Bit of a late post this but I needed to write something because I’m so pissed off and so, so dissapointed as a Villa fan at the moment!
I suggested recently that our current squad is the worst I’ve seen in my lifetime, I’m 29 years old and have witnessed our two most recent silverware triumphs, both via league cup victories over Manure and Leeds, both great victories and good Villa teams.
I’ve seen great managers (even if I thought they were great at a young age) who got me excited to watch games, like Big Ron, O’Leary, Gregory and even O’Neill, I remember these days well, we weren’t the best but we were good and easily worthy of our Premier League spot and more often than not a good solid top half finish and pleasing to watch.
What’s happened to us? I mean really! It’s not far short of a disaster.
We did alright for a while there under O’Neill but it’s all turned sour…Houllier could have been great if he hadn’t become ill. The Houllier appointment does at least prove that Lerner/Faulkner are capable of a good footballing decision, at the very least.
Skip forward and I have a son who still hasn’t witnessed a Villa win since his birth and I’m thinking to myself how do we move forward? I want Lambert to go, that’s certain, but is now a good time? Who would we get in?
To get to the point of the post, I also recently suggested that we currently have excellent squad fillers now and are only a “superstar” away in each position of being a really good side. I still believe this. Superstar is a little ambitious considering the club we support but a top player let’s say.
The likes of Guzan, Vlaar, Lowton, Sylla, Zoggy, Gabby, Andy, Benteke (all when on form I should add) are good players, I think?!
I’m sure that Helenius could be huge for us but he isn’t getting picked. The rest of the squad, however, is pretty damn poor and lacks the quality and ‘cutting edge’ you need in this league. That Polish fella and Bannan in the middle for Palace yesterday completely outplayed our lot and made them look amateur. That, in itself was horrible to witness. Bannan being played, by Pulis, in front of a proper DM shows that he can ‘pull the strings’, play to his strengths and be a good player. Something Lambert wasn’t able to figure out. Bannan was man of the match yesterday.
So we’re approaching January fast, and if we don’t get backing from Lerner we’ll go down, I’m sure of it. We rode our luck last year and what really gets to me is that you would have thought that Lambert/Lerner/Faulkner would have learned from the shortfalls of last season and invested, bought in good quality players, experienced players, like Barry. But no, they didn’t.
We need a solid left back, in fact we desperately need a left side. I’m so embarassed to say it but I’d even bring Hutton back in. We HAVE TO BUY A DM: absolutely have too.
We need an AM. We need Bent back in the team. I don’t even know his loan conditions. We’re falling apart and it’s that bad I think we need to go backwards for a quick fix.
“We’ll pick ourselves up and go again” against Swansea on Saturday and if we dont lose it’ll be a miracle. Even if we win I still want Lambert to go. It’s squeaky bum time once more and this time around I don’t think we have enough about us to “go again” and survive.
I hope I’m wrong.

We are shit and Boxing day proved to me there is no team worse than us in the league. Lambert and Culverhouse are shocking tacticians so angry with the whole club atm clueless from top to bottom. Took my son boxing day taking him again today poor kid.

By staying away it gives Lerner an excuse to spend less cannot see how it would do any good, also if i am at the match i can voice my concerns. I have an ST so it makes no difference if i go or stay away anyway.
I do not trust that mumbling idiot to spend another penny as he just buys shit , if he is not sacked after we loose today then we really are screwed .

0-4 to the Swans, but lets rejoice as January is coming. Another Jordan Bowery type signing coming, can’t wait.
I think it will be 2-1 Villa and Lambert will be saved for another 18 months to go and buy some “bright and hungry” YTS players in January… More importantly it will be a definite, “you can’t fault the lads” sprinkled with a little “we pick ourselves up and go again” post match….Dont forget your free stickers though as Randolph thinks they will keep us all happy for another season.
Thats why in many ways a win is the worst thing, we need him out. Any kind of result buys lamberk time and the more time he spends at AVFC the more destruction he will cause. Therefore, I hope we lose heavily, the number 1 objective now is to get lamberk as far away from AVFC as possible
I can’t agree more Belcs, but have a feeling he will save his slimy skin today, ready for a load of inexperienced dross purchases in January and lets face it Faulkner has been saving his own slimy skin for 6 years and Randolph hasn’t noticed what a complete waste of space he is !
MarkDrapernumber8, straight from the heart that mate, yes its frustrating to say the least, I’m a lot older than you by 40+ years seen the good days and now the unbelievable days, we are at the mercy of people that have no thought but only for themselves, Lerner should not have moved into our lives if it was only to be able to say , I own a British football team to boast to other yanks, I feel for my love of Villa, I can only hit back by walking away, sad is it not.?

Sir Oohah hope you are reading this mate.The worm as turned at last but never thought loyal fans would want us to lose mind you if it;s going to get rid of LAMBERK and his LEMMINGS then i am all for us loosing 8-9 or even10-0 just to see the back of him.The only other thing i will say is and this hurts me to the core come on you useless no hope dopes lose and big style LAMBERK OUT.
TJ….Lambert wont be sacked no matter what the score is. And he wont be sacked because he is doing exactly what Lerner wants. That is to keep us up on a shoestring so Randy can pocket the sky money. Lambert is perfect in that role and we dont count anymore.

Whatever the result today the fans need to make it known they want lamberk and especially culver house out. A win today just papers over the cracks and will prolong the agony of lamberk staying
