I remember Owen’s agent created a report of his skills, why can’t their agents do the same?
Stephen Ireland – Ermm well he’s a demon on the shisha pipe and ermm, ermm.
Alan Hutton- Well his Mom loves him.

    Therein lies the problem.

Lets face it all the aforementioned players are hardly a good catch, except for Bent.
I never once thought we would sell Ireland and still don’t. He’ll be in the reserves next season waiting for his contract to run down, nobody will touch him, after all he has done zilch for years now.
Bannan and Hutton will go eventually for peanuts, though anything to get them out the door and off the wage bill.
N’Zog is a tricky one, I think we’ll be stuck with him too, wages too high and I can’t see anyone bidding more than a couple of million at best.
Delfouneso is the next Stefan/Luke Moore, though this time we’ll struggle to find anyone stupid enough to take him off our hands.

the players listed above i agree with being surplus ~ bannan n’zog and stevens i don’t feel they are such a drain like the others ~ i respect that they may not figure in lamberts plans but its the likes of ireland hutton and bent we should be really pushing 2 the door, they would free up much more wages and they contribute far less

Won’t the squad players who don’tget to play in first team fixtures play in the reserves. If so, we don’t want any of the bomb squad anywhere near them. That’swhy we must get rid asap. Bad influence.

And another thing. Taking a loss to get rid is another example of Lerner backing Lambert, it is “reverse” investment, if you get my drift. UTV. Onwards and Upwards.

theres no way i would take a pay cut cos some1 didn’t like me 🙂 only way these players leave will be if they get a paid off by villa or they are offered another club willing 2 match their current wages.

i doubt either will happen fast so these will be around until contracts end ( ireland and hutton 4sure) nzog, bannan and bent want 2 play so may leave willingly

Nath.. but surely if your a multi millionaire already.. wouldn’t you want to be playing first team football at the peak of ur age..

It isn’t like there on £1000 a week and a pay cut to £650 will affect there bank balances..

After making millions if you can still earn 30K plus a week then you need your head checking if your not eager to move…

I still think Nzogbia can play a role at Villa, but the others futures seem elsewhere. Bannan is the biggest disappointment for me, so much potential but just lost his way this year.

I just dont understand what these players agents are doing!! Surely, they should be searching high and wide for a new club for their client. They make more money when these deals happen.

Given their high wages and possible rejection to be loaned out of lesser clubs, is it just cheaper for Villa to mutually terminate the contracts of players like Ireland and Hutton? I ask because I don’t know.

Not quite that simple to mutually terminate a contract…….both parties must agree. Clue is in the title!

There’s one player you forgot to mention on that list, Shay Given.

Would you not think that other football clubs are thinking on the same lines as Villa, the wages playing major part in not wanting a player that’s not performing, then a player thinking sod it I’ll sit on the bench and get paid, I’ve got two years , 18 months, what ever, Managers we’ve had over the years have dropped us this problem, I say take what you can and fuck them off. The must be in any contract of a footballer if a club wants out out he goes. IMO.

I think you are on to something there football seems to be wising up to your average Joe type of player demanding top dollar, ok your Van Persie’s, Bale’s and Aguero’s might be able to command massive wages, they do the business week in week out but I think the writings on the wall for Steven Ireland and the likes.

Can we not do a 6 for 1 deal lol. I would be chuffed of we got rid of 2 or 3 . I don’t see all 6 being sold. Bannan is a fool to turn his nose up to Blackburn. Still a great club and always stand a chance of promotion. Wage will be good and can get regular footy

If we don’t offload the ‘bomb squad’ this window we should just release them IMO, minus Bent who will still have a value.

Cutting our losses maybe wise. Ireland for example will literally be immovable. And on his wages we’ll lose a lot more in the long run than some fee we might gain in the future, his value will only decrease.

To be honest I don’t know if it’s that simple but we did it with Dunne and the others already.

Dunne was out of contract………if we release them we’ll have to pay up contracts in full. Won’t happen

      1-0 Delph

I’ll take your word for it McGrath is King, I would have thought in contracts there might be some clause where as performance comes into question, just a thought on my part. 🙂

Watching the match on AVTV. Bloody hell we look good. I know its Walsall, but still we are playing some fast moving, forward passing football. And Gabby looks red hot. Luna, Delph and especially KEA look great. And the defence haven’t let a goal in yet, mind you they’ve only had one serious threat which they mopped up ok, error by Jed Steer, but he atoned for the error. 7 changes coming in 2nd half, but Gabby, Benteke and Weiman are supposed to be going the full ninety.

Delph, Westwood and Sylla in the middle for me. KEA is looking much better but I think Sylla is going to get even better.

    Nice goal from Grealish too.

Grealish makes it 4! Nice…lets hope we see plenty of him and Carruthers this season. At last we seem to have real competition for places all over the field.
