As Benteke returns to training this week, the squad probably won’t be too pleased with the Belgians transfer request. Sylla will be asked to re-settle Benteke at Aston Villa, and maybe even pursued the Belgian to stay at the club for another season. Benteke and Sylla have built a good relationship and actually spend a lot of time together away from the club and they both speak French to each other.
Benteke will also not feature in the friendly against Wycombe, not because of his transfer request. But because he is far behind in terms of match fitness. But if an offer doesn’t come soon, Benteke will probably continue to play for Aston Villa including the friendlies.
Apart in the training ground it will be interesting to see how the fans would react to Benteke’s appearance. When Barry played in a friendly after handing in a transfer request he was booed during the game. Benteke’s hero tag has been destroyed and relations between the fans aren’t good.
