Sunderland 3 – 1 Villa; that’s exactly why we’re going down

There’s an old saying that says you make your own luck.
And the simple fact is we have none whatsoever.

Today summed up everything that says we’re going down and if anyone still believes it’s not true, well I’m afraid I can only say you’re deluded.

We were the better side for the first half hour until Sunderland scored from a long distance shot that got deflected leaving Guzan no chance.

Then we bought Traore on, who scared the crap out of their defenders and did well to set up Gil for the equaliser.
And then what happened?
Off he goes with yet another injury.

And then Defoe gets a chance where he only has one place to shoot (the near post) and Guzan doesn’t have it covered.
Shocking goalkeeping from a goalie whose confidence is shot.

Next up was a Sunderland corner, where it seemed we had 4 defenders near the corner flag trying to defend and no-one where it mattered, after some comical defending, resulting in Guzan again passing to one of our players only for him not to know it was coming and the opposition scored again.

I could go on about how the performance wasn’t too bad against another equally shocking side.
But what’s the point?

It ultimately boils down to the fact that if we can’t get a win against Sunderland, where do we see a single win coming from?

Wycombe up next in the cup isn’t it?
You just know they’ll want it more and I’m dreading it.

I have to hold my hands up here and say that if I was Lerner, I’d be looking very closely at what sort of players the manager wants to get in.
If any targets are aimed at Premier league survival, I’d say forget it.

This team needs dismantling, as too many of our squad just aren’t good enough for the Villa.

That said, I saw the look on Garde’s face a few times and it was pretty emotionless.
I suspect he knows what we are.
And it’s frankly rubbish.

May can’t come soon enough.
