“Soft” Embargo lifted and Super agent Mendes to provide his services; Surely players coming in?

So it appears Aston Villa were under some kind of “soft” embargo, after the clubs recent meeting with the EFL.

I’m guessing that meant that we couldn’t sign anyone without certain assurances or guarantees.
It’s quite rightly pointed out that if you miss a transfer payment, your’re automatically embargoed and I’d say these issues have now been sorted out, because the official line from the EFL is;

“The EFL can further confirm that the Club is not subject to a registration embargo.”

This is great news and surely means that we should see players coming in.
It’s a shame it’s so late in the day, but it seems we’re going to employ Jorge Mendes to gain access to his pool of talented young players.

I’m not sure what to think about that, as it seems a bit hypocritical of the club, given that we recently complained about Wolves using the super-agent.
But there’s no doubt Wolves got some great players via Mendes and I guess it’s a case of “if you can’t beat them, join them”.

We’ve probably teamed up with Mendes because of his access to decent players at short notice and it’s a case of needs must.
But it’ll be interesting to see what the players cost.

I see we confirmed Moreira’s signing with a tweet that referenced “Love island”.
and we’ve been slated for it being embarrassing.
I have an old workmate who often refers to “Jack and Danny”, but I won’t
    explain what he means.

I find the “Love Island” concept embarrassing, but millions watch it.

    So, keep it up Villa.
If it helps keep our profile up, it can’t be bad, imo.

The Grealish to Spurs links won’t go away until we hear the words from Bruce or owners that he is not for sale. With one week till deadline day and considering he has featured in our pre season games, something needs to be said now from the club so Levy knows his tight fisted approach has blown up in his face. £20m or £30m won’t be worth much now when it costs us any hope of promotion. If we are nowhere near top six in January then fair enough let him go, but to let him go now will be more costly than any transfer fee. He is head and shoulders above any other player in our squad. If we can get in a good centre back I think we will be pushing hard for automatic promotion.

According to the Sun Chelsea are after Jack as well. As it’s the Sun it’s probably rubbish but what if Jack wants to go?

I think there’s a calculation to be made here – do we keep a player who doesn’t want to stay and, if stopped from going, may well not play as well afterwards? Let’s face it we’ve seen it happen loads of times and I’m not even sure it’s always a conscious thing for the player.

If Jack really wants to go to Chelsea or Spurs (and who could blame him) then personally I’d take the money and run.

We need hungry players this season.

PS On the other hand if Jack wants to stay then they should tell the other clubs to go and do one right now.

So it looks like we have been left with a very negative manager who is selling our most creative player.

I still don’t understand the reason for playing Grealish so often in pre season if they are likely to sell him. If he goes before Monday our season will falter at the very beginning. We don’t have anyone else in a central position who can create like he does, so we would have to rely on wing play. Seeing as Bruce is playing 5-3-2 then we will be found out easily. My worry is without Grealish that Bruce will start with Steer De Laet or Elmo Taylor Hutton Chester Elphick or Jedinak Whelan or Bjarnasson Hourihane Lansbury Green or Adomah & Kodja which will probably have a lot of possession but no creativity going forward. Lots of hoof ball! Basically our new owners need to tell Grealish and any club enquiring that he is not for sale. I’m getting agitated now along with every other fan until this window shuts.
