So what do Lambert’s latest comments mean?

It seems Paul Lambert held a press conference yesterday. I don’t know why, as I’ve always assumed the weekly update usually happens on Fridays?

Anyway, the upshot of it was that no-one’s leaving. Or are they?

Here’s the Sports Mole take on what Lambert said, where they suggest that Ron Vlaar and Fabian Delph aren’t for sale. Notice, no mention of Gabby;

“I don’t think anyone will go without me saying so. Put it that way,” he told reporters.

“I think the lads are happy here and want to get going again. Things will happen with those lads in the next little bit. It will take course through the season.”

The Evening Mail quotes the same words, but doesn’t give the same “hands off” impression; more suggesting that we’ll look at their contracts.
And that article mentions Gabby.

How does that work then?
I thought we had an embargo on contracts, unless it’s the kids?
What things will happen with those lads in the next little bit? What will take course through the season?

I’m totally confused, as is per usual with Lambert’s comments.
So what happens if Randy Lerner says “sell”?
Will Lambert really say “no”?
I doubt it very much.

I think we’re being fed a line here.
I don’t believe for one minute that we’d be looking to sign these players up on new contracts as things stand, with Lerner desperately wanting out.
So if we get a good offer, I’m guessing they’re gone, simple and the money will go straight in Lerner’s pocket.
Unless there is a sale definitely in the pipeline, where Lerner and Lambert already have an inkling of how a serious prospective buyer might be thinking??

No, I’m going to stick with my usual “Lambert talks a load of proverbial”, attitude.
