So what do Lambert’s latest comments mean?

It seems Paul Lambert held a press conference yesterday. I don’t know why, as I’ve always assumed the weekly update usually happens on Fridays?

Anyway, the upshot of it was that no-one’s leaving. Or are they?

Here’s the Sports Mole take on what Lambert said, where they suggest that Ron Vlaar and Fabian Delph aren’t for sale. Notice, no mention of Gabby;

“I don’t think anyone will go without me saying so. Put it that way,” he told reporters.

“I think the lads are happy here and want to get going again. Things will happen with those lads in the next little bit. It will take course through the season.”

The Evening Mail quotes the same words, but doesn’t give the same “hands off” impression; more suggesting that we’ll look at their contracts.
And that article mentions Gabby.

How does that work then?
I thought we had an embargo on contracts, unless it’s the kids?
What things will happen with those lads in the next little bit? What will take course through the season?

I’m totally confused, as is per usual with Lambert’s comments.
So what happens if Randy Lerner says “sell”?
Will Lambert really say “no”?
I doubt it very much.

I think we’re being fed a line here.
I don’t believe for one minute that we’d be looking to sign these players up on new contracts as things stand, with Lerner desperately wanting out.
So if we get a good offer, I’m guessing they’re gone, simple and the money will go straight in Lerner’s pocket.
Unless there is a sale definitely in the pipeline, where Lerner and Lambert already have an inkling of how a serious prospective buyer might be thinking??

No, I’m going to stick with my usual “Lambert talks a load of proverbial”, attitude.

Badger123, its no surprise to most Villa fans thats meaningless comments come from Lambert, firstly this is PR for Villa merchandise to move as you know shirts are on Sale this month plus new second in command has already been speaking to the meadia, Vlaar regardless what Oohah thinks will not go unless stupid money is mentioned and you’ve already pointed out it would weaken Aston Villa on the field, giving contracts out to our young players would in my mind tell other clubs if you want, you pay, its now obvious Villa has to work on a shoe string of players they have and Keane has to make player’s like Abonglahor do 90 minutes and not play when he thinks. That’s my take on what’s going on, have we got buyers yet? I don’t think so, it will not change at Villa till Learners out.

I’m still not convinced we are up for sake officially yes but unofficially no. Think it was another ruse by Lerner to carry on making money and appease fans at the same time. He will still be here next season IMO

He lost the fans towards the end of the season and you don’t get that back.
As much of an arrogant moron that Keane is, I enjoyed listening to him speak the other day.
          Lamberk is a walking cliche.
I despise the man with a passion.

last season he bought himself a bit more time because of beating arsenal and city. I said then those wins just paper over the cracks which they did. If lamberk gets of to good start the worry is the fans will get behind him again then he gets another season. The point is yes we could go to arsenal and win but we all know lamberk cant sustain it. No good beating city or chelsea then losing to everyone else pointless.

roy keano has done nothing in managing side of the game ~ i aint gonna bother 2 post his brillant c/v, anyways he might be wot the players need, but as a assistant only. now i read a ex players questioning this, saying he can’t see him playing second fiddle 2 anyone, well yorke a rumour going around hes actually assistant 2 mon for rep of ireland

first and foremost lerner need 2 sell before we see a new manager. if keano does becomes the new manager god help us

keane already assistant to mon so this appointment suits him. he can work his foot into a door if villa improve this year, either at villa or any other team. but fail and villa are shit and its lamberts fault

The longer it goes on with no buyer – the more I am inclined to agree with OOHAH’ s hypothesis that we are not really up for sale. I don’t think 150M is too hard to find amongst the sort of people who have the desire to buy an EPL team. All bias aside I think Villa would be the best side in the EPL to buy at that asking price.

I wonder though if behind the scenes the necessary planning authorities have been sounded out about moving the ground to near NEC, Brum International and the airport. This would have the important side effect of allowing a new name for a new stadium. As I have said before the biggest drawback to an outsider looking to buy an EPL club is the Banglashdeshi community almost surrounding Villa Park.

Everton and Newcastle have been up for sale for far longer and in my opinion are far better investments, and neither have been sold to date, and do you know why?

Because the real cost of investing in and running a football club in the Premier League is so huge that there are few buyers out there with the funds available to do it.

I don’t understand why some clowns on here think it’s so simple to sell a football club.

We are DEF up for sale… but as per usual RL has gone about in a way that only a donkey would..

Putting something up for sale does not mean it will be brought within a moment.. esp a Prem league going for around 200M..

The whole issue is that complete retard of an owner made a big hoo ha with TWO statements when he didn’t have to say anything..

Yes he wants to sell but there is absolutely no need to totally and utterly drain all funduing towards fees and wages.. In a season we have made 76M.. he could have easily given 20M plus wages for us to carry on..

Its a running business.. unles you have soemthing conrete lined up then you carry on as normal.. within ur means.. and the above figure(s) would have been fine..

Hell.. Lescott.. Holtby.. Victor Moses ( on loan ) etc would have suited us and not much expenditure..

Oh come off it Bill that is complete rubbish. So Britain was being nice to all of Europe when we had the euros all we wanted was their fans to come over preferably to London and rip them of as much as we can and send them home skint. British footballers like bale didn’t go to real for the money of course, beckham never went to USA either for money. Bill that’s tge biggest rubbish iv ever heard from you tbh
