Villa should not budge unless Spurs pay us 30m and take Hutton back as part of any deal for what we paid for him

Oohah- Levy is deluded anyway – has convinced himself Spurs is a big club. With right investment the Villa is much bigger. CB more a rabbit in the headlights rather than a bighead and as has been said is being used by his agent.

I totally agree with Dortmunds stance and think this is exactly what’s going on at AVFC.Lerner has set the ball park figure for Benteke so high nobody thinks hes worth it.Which means no buyers.Spurs have shown interest but no offer. All the who har and the transfer request is a possible ploy to get Villa to do a Genk and lower his price tag but to no avail.I think Benteke has shown disloyalty to AVFC by even asking for a transfer at this early stage of his contract and should stand by the club that gave him his shot.AVFC are to big for Benteke so I hope he learns his lesson little fish big pond…UTV

Spurs may be in a better place than us right now but I do believe over the next couple of years we will considraby close the gap. Spurs are NOT a bigger club than us. All the stats over history point to Villa being a bigger club. Even since the premier league has been formed we have finished 2nd to their 4th and above them more often than not. Lets be clear Benteke is moving for Money and the majority of it to his agent. Rest assured Spurs fans if he is using Villa as a stepping stone it will be you next year as you are certainly not one of the top clubs in Europe. Just look at the badge on your shirts I see no star for being European Champions all i see is a big Cock.

Benteke would appear to be another Anelka and his career will probably follow a similar path of unfulfilled potential. He always thinks the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. Contrast his behaviour with that of Darren Bent. DB has been harshly treated in my opinion and somewhat humiliated simply because of his wages. Yet he has never disrespected the club, manager, or fans,in the media. I wish DB all the best at Newcastle. As for Benteke, RL should stick to his guns. If we get £20m + for him it will have been a good short term investment. CB doesn’t deserve to be at Villa. Jog on.

Chelsea going for Rooney. Man City buying Negredo. Arsenal positioning for Suarez. Spurs can’t offload Adebayor and/or meet our demands. At this point, CB’s so-called transfer is looking pretty dim. All the club needs to do is continue taking a hardline on the situation and everyone may get their wish. In the best case scenario, no one meets our demands and CB is brought back into the team. The club, instead of waiting for his eventual departure in January or June of next season, takes the initiative by buying his replacement now, ie Gomis, etc… The club progresses and the team weens itself off depending on Benteke for goals. Then in January or June of next year when a club is willing to pay 30m for Benteke we will already have an establish replacement and hit the ground running. Helenius is very promising, but we’ll need another brute up front if Benteke leaves.

Couple differences. Lewandowski would reject any move other than Bayern, as he did with Madrid. Benteke wouldn’t reject any other club but Spurs, even though that’s what the media believes.

Lewandowski wanted to go last summer, so that’s 2 summers now, however he stayed and was phenomenal again, Benteke on the other hand went on strike last summer and joined Villa.

These 2 players are completely different. Lewandowski’s not going to go on strike, leave to Poland to play Golf, he’s been promised he can move to Bayern and he’s going to again play for Dortmund unhappy but to the best of his abilities for 1 more season. Was Benteke going to do that at Genk? Hell no. Will he do it at Villa? Yes, for 1 reason. World Cup. If the World Cup wasn’t next summer he’d be doing exactly the same thing he did at Genk, and actually come out instead of the media continuously making these things up.

Another difference, team. Benteke played his heart out for a team fighting relegation, and are on the verge of probably a mid-table season. Lewandowski’s going to suffer playing in the CL and for the Bundesliga title while having to wait.

Biggest difference as pointed out though is they’re two different players and two different personalities. 2 summers now Benteke’s caused trouble. Lewandowski to get a move to Dortmund, waited a whole extra season as Lech just to move, rejecting clubs like Napoli in the process. When he has his mind set on something, he’s proven twice now he’s willing to wait and not cause problems.

I agree with everything you said, but have one question that I offer to others as well….what makes anyone believe we are headed for the midtable? Now, I am admittedly a pessimist, but we have done very little to improve our standing in this transfer window and it would seem others around us are making bigger investments than ours. I would love to believe we have nowhere to go but up, but I fear we could be battling relegation again this year, without Benteke.

      Hoping I’m wrong. UTV

We’ve only shown we’re going to replace Bent though, Benteke staying or not, we could even go for 2. I’d agree with you if that wasn’t the case. We’ve shown we’re not done in the Transfer Market.

My thoughts exactly Kentucky but I get slated for it. I think the only improvement wev made is signing Okore I really think he has what it takes to go all the way. In the downside it may take him a good half season to settle in and may be a player for the season after. The only hope we have of finishing higher up the league is to hold onto benteke and buy a couple of quality players like Southampton have done. It begs another question how can they afford a 12m player and we can’t! Something is not right if we can’t compete with the Swansea and saints. No one expects us to compete with Chelsea etc but I don’t think it’s unreasonable that we can’t compete with Southampton.

On one hand Oohaah you say we will be in for a fight for relegation but on the other you want us to emulate the stance of a team who reached the final of the champions league and have won two of the last three titles and will be offering the player the same carrot again..

You can’t make this stuff up… UNBELIEVABLE JEFF..

Look at Liverpool they’ve dug their heels in today over Suarez and bottom line is whether we are champions or not Lerner has the means to do whatever he sees fit with benteke and that’s a fact. On another note its rumored that utd are to offer 60m for bale so that means spurs can easily afford the 25m for cb now. If I was Lerner I’d now tell spuds I want 30m simply as his record in goals scored and assists is similar to bales.

Why don’t villa come out and tell spurs that there’s a deadline and if it’s not met then he won’t be leaving. Let the public no the exact date and if it’s not met then he simply doesn’t go. Let’s not whistle to there tune and wait to see what they do before we move forward.

Villa need to take their mark from Levy. Bale not for sale, we want to keep him, £85M if you want to get talking. Ditto Benteke. Similar goals to games ratio last season ( and CB the year before – so not the one season wonder we keep getting told he is), similar age.

Also, I have mentioned Gary Hooper to a few people but nobody seems keen – including prem managers – he could go to QPR … From what I have seen he is a natural goalscorer – great ratio of goals / games. I know its Scotland – but he has shown he has a good first touch, great awareness, positional sense and can play up front on his own, with a partner or wide. £5m seems a bargain – and worth a go – much more so than the list of foreign names I have never heard of til this window and never seen play. Go get him PL – Celtic connections.

Villa are playing a Dortmund! It’s been clear since day one our stance with this transfer. In fact a lot of what we’re doing is a slight variation on the Dortmund model. Dortmund, a huge German club with bags of history had to be unfortunately relegated before bouncing back. We were saved that fate last year but may struggle again this year but probably not as badly as last.
Benteke is a different player to Lewandowski, simply because Lewandowski has class about him and shows respect to the clubs who have invested time in his development. We don’t have that with Benteke.

I thought you got inside info when you commented that Bale had been better advised than Benteke. I personally think Bale is a million times more professional than Benteke. Was curious as to know how you justify your comment that he’d been better advised that’s all. Anybody can give advice but ultimately it’s down to the individual to act upon it, the fact Bale hasn’t spat his dummy out proves he’s more professional than Benteke. I for one never want to see Benteke in a Villa shirt again.

No that’s just my opinion I assume he has been better advised by the way he is acted. Thou if utd come calling with 60m then he will prob be off. Benteke and his agent have acted appallingly but I would like to see him at villa next season simply because he has to play well because if the World Cup and we will benefit. If he has a good wc we will still get at least 25m for him especially if he signs one yr extension which he prob would do or he won’t get wage rise.
