As many Villa fans recently, I am not very happy with what is going on at the club. But perhaps what has made me angrier is the many contradictions that Sherwood has said in the past during his press conferences. In this article I will just address these contradictions.
“Ayew is a confidence player who benefits from game time” – Sherwood
Ayew had a great game against Birmingham City, despite having some form he was benched the following game and since came off the bench against Stoke.
“Aston Villa won’t fight relegation again under me” – Sherwood
This is the one that angered me the most. I can’t believe I actually believed Sherwood, the team he built seemed good in the summer, but that is so far from the truth. We are again in a relegation battle, and that quote just sees me lose confidence in Sherwood as a manager and a person.
“You can’t persevere with a team that hasn’t won yet” – Sherwood
Again, we beat Birmingham City yet the starting 11 was changed. Clark had a great game, alongside Ayew, but neither have really featured recently. Go back to the basics and play defenders that can play in the back 4.
“The players are working really hard.” – Sherwood
I really don’t believe that the players are as fit as they have in previous seasons. Sanchez seems to be out of breath in the final 20 minutes, and we’re simply not pressuring opposition defenders enough. We’re not having a go at teams, and that might have to be due to a lack of match fitness.
“We need to stay in the division and if we do we will be stronger next year.” – Sherwood
Villa aren’t much better, and dare I say it. Villa were better under Lambert in the first two months. I think that the overall team has been strengthened, and whilst we may have lost a brilliant goal scorer. We have so much more creativity in the midfield now that we should be able to create chances left, right and centre.
“It’s too early for relegation battles.” – Sherwood
Even if we beat Chelsea we’d still be in the bottom 3. A point gap is starting to open up and this is not where I expect Villa to be at this point of the season. Generally, Villa had an easy fixture list these past few months and we’ve only won one game. The next 4 games look very difficult and I’m not sure where we can pick up points. But we are in a relegation battle, and it’s time for the coaching staff and players to step up.
Big mistake by Sherwood to take his disagreement over transfer policy public – does nothing for morale within or outside the club. As I said previously if he took the job without fully understanding his role then he’s a fool. As fir a new manager – fear not we have jolly Ray Wilkins waiting in the wings.
If (sorry when) we go down, don’t be surprised to see us free fall two divisions – it happened to us before and it’s happened to other former great clubs – Wednesday and Wolves to name just two. There is a malaise within Villa Park – ‘something is rotten in the state of Denmark’
Leeds & forest should also be added scary.

At the moment I have lost all faith in Aston Villa . Rotten to the core if Sherwood leaked information to the press about transfers he is covering his ass ,if it all goes pear shape and its heading that way. He will walk if we get nothing out of the next couple of games. Then again he might get the boot shortly if there is in-house fighting wth the with the people in charge .

I think martial for Utd was a money ball signing they’ve done their home work and know they will sell him to their parent club Real Madrid for £80m in a couple of seasons
I must admit Sherwood never came over to me as being a yes sir no sir person in saying that when he first came he came over as being a good confident manager say no more.
If the comments do really come from Sherwood it’s another illustration of talk first think later. If rumours of who he was pushing for have any substance then he wanted to add Prem experience into the squad as well as the foreign imports. That probably would have helped. It all looks a bit depressing but maybe the team will surprise us with a couple of results over the next few games.
So far we haven’t really been turned over and are just losing by the odd goal. That could obviously change across the next 6 games and we could take a pasting. If that happens the alarm bells will be ringing and Sherwood (and the club) will be in big trouble.

Things do need to change, but I still feel we’re panicking a bit too much, fwiw.
I think that will change next week can see Cheksea giving us a right pasting. The only reason we have only lost by one goal is we havnt played anyone decent yet except Utd. Wait till we play Arsenal and man city etc that will be fun. The Liverpool result papered over the cracks they were much better than a 3.2 win against us.
Oohah a few months ago I’d have took you to task over what your saying, but your right, all this time things at Villa was hidden from us fans in the way it would go, I wish they themselves would just admit they got it wrong, but they won’t will they, how many years had us fans suffered complete crap from managers down to players, a fantastic ground being driven to ridicule of being bottom of the league, and you can get the likes of Bournemouth doing better than our second city, all this is over bad managers and coaching staff, I know you will say and owner, but he has been led down the garden path in football knowledge. Wouldn’t you say.?
The whole thing is dire Bill the club has completely lost its way and there are so many things wrong it’s untrue. No one person is to blame Lerner was naive but surely you can’t use that excuse anymore as he’s been here for years now. If the club was a house I’d say knock it down and rebuild it from the bottom up. I think we are going to have suffer years in football purgatory until we rise again in afraid. Even when we won the European cup 10 years before that we were in the third division. I think we need to go backwards to go forwards.
So just because we havnt been caned that makes it ok then. A defeat us a defeat and let’s face we could easily of list by more in some games we just got lucky

Be nice to see a manager of ours held accountable for their actions, and not taking a year to do something. Does seem unlikely though.
