Shennanigans re Hoolahan

The Mirror have reported that Norwich City have formally written to the club complaining about the way Paul Lambert has been courting Wes Hoolahan.
In return, the club have replied confirming the receipt of the letter/e-mail and duly noted the contents of it.

It’s pretty obvious that Hoolahan has been tapped up in some way, which is nothing unusual, as we all know it happens throughout the game, but I do wish the Norwich board would grow up and get over the way Lambert left, as it’s starting to get boring.

That said, do Norwich have a point?
I’m not convinced they do really, as as far as I know, Lambert has only said something along the lines of “he’s a player I know well and have worked with successfully, but he’s Norwich’s player and we’ll have to see.”
Unless I’ve missed something, all pretty innocuous and run of the mill stuff.

If anything, it’s Hoolahan Norwich ought to be having a go at.
After all, he’s the one who put in a transfer request and after having it refused, went on to say that he wants to come to Villa, as he’s fed up of not playing.

I personally don’t care if he comes or not, as his signing has nothing to do with the “project” and is basically an admission that the plan of buying cheap, low quality players has failed miserably, to my mind.
I mean, many of us asked for experience, but we wanted quality too.
And while Hoolahan might well be decent for us, he’s not really what I had in mind.
Still, he’s cheap, isn’t he?
Except he probably won’t be as cheap as we’d expect, as Norwich will want their pound of flesh before they agree a deal.

Just get it done and out of the way, so we can go back to dreaming about £10 million class players that we’re about to get in, I reckon…….
Who am I trying to kid?

Ive said before that hoolahan wants to leave & norwich are standing in his way.he has handed in a transfer request a couple of weeks ago which was refused by the club.yet they stated no request has been handed in.personally i don’t believe a word norwich are spouting the usual bollox most clubs feed the media.

im not asking for much but messi and ronaldo for a couple of £100m would be a start. Why? because the amount of merchandise and publicity for the club would be huge. We would attract the biggest sponsers to the club and our profile would be raised to a different level. Other players would then give their left bollox to join us. We would keep players like benteke, we would be virtually guaraneed CL with those 2 and then we could flog them get most of our money back and build from a position of strength. Simples

Lambert is just shoring up where we need it on the cheap with a bit of experience he knows from working with them will do the job in hand. For six months. Please just six months (unless either Hoolahan or Holt turn out to actually be good).

We can’t do no more loan moves from teams in this country only abroad unless you have a deal to buy the player after loan is finished. I think !

Think that’s right Aston. I believe it’s only 2 domestic loans at any one time. Any others will need to come from abroad. Apparently that’s unlimited. Someone made the point about Dongou being ineligible due to nationality and status as an international. I really don’t know if that applies to a loan as he is effectively then just working in the UK for a specific short term. Could all be bollock anyway!

norwich are just pissed. they don’t av a point ~ a player they own wants 2 leave big deal ~ they keep him and refuse 2 sell, then thats there business, but sour grapes they need 2 poach a player from a smaller team than them and shut up.

p.s i thought weimann played the role behind the striker very well against pool. the lads struggled this season but i have faith he will come good , i think the lad has a excellent positioning play 2 his game, he knows the areas 2 attack and when 2 get there, plus iam never wrong lmao

Weimann has been playing wide nearly all season. He is best in and around Benteke.

Wiemann is number 10, I had hopes he’d be playing there this season but it seems the manager has preferred him on the right.

Wiemann has not done it for me this season, he had a lot of chances wasted this season.

No where near the same player as last year, another player in his position for competition would probably help him up his game

Hoolahan is a good player and is 10 times more creative than any of our midfielders but there are other players out there that are way better and younger but of coarse the reason we are after him…he is cheap and that’s all that matters to our manager and lerner and i am sick of it, defoer is available and stated he would like to play for villa supposedly would cost around the 5 mill mark but no that’s too much for a club like villa! Bollox we need to sign players like this to improve the team not 5 bench warmers ffs

I think Defour might be too much of a risk in this window, he has not played in the Prem before and we need prem experience players to see out the rest of this season. Defour would be a great addition long term but it would take him a while to settle in and the way we as fans are atm it would prove to be imo a bad move in this window

i am also a hoolahan fan, around 2 mill with creative edge and experience 2 boot its a win win 4 instant return 4 us ~ plus i agree he caused us loads a problems last year and i av seen enough 2 confidently say he will definitely add 2 the squad in many ways instantly ~ i do think weimann might av found his mojo u watch him go ~ being played wide 4 most of the season is hard on him ~ he took up some good positions against pool arriving late which is also a pain 4 defenders

Come on nath nobody is asking for players that cost 20 mill, i tink hoolahan would be a decent player for villa finally a hint of creativity but why shouldn’t we be hoping to sign players in the 5-10 mill range? We are aston villa ffs not a team playing in the championship gettin players on loans and free or not paying over 1 mill for a player! All i want is a player that actually improves the 1st team not more squad players which is how i see hoolahan after the end of this season or will he still be the best number 10 we will have next season or in 2 seasons time? I would fuckin hope not because that would surely dispel this building for the future bullshit! Sign some quality players Lambert, prove your a good manager that can work with quality players not just players over the hill or lookin to make a name for themselves, he will never be considered a good manager until he can prove that.

relax support the team and lets see / wot happens b4 we cry ~ i am back 2 feeling good about villa i nearly cried after the palace loss, but u watch us canter 2 the finish line with a top 10 finish

Would agree that there must be far better and younger AM out there somewhere for under or around 5m
Hoolahan is not the answer long term at 31.

at the same time if he is cheap .. sign him on a 2 and half year deal low wages and he may make a big impact for the rest of this season.
i think perhaps Lambert money or no money dislikes the January window full stop.
I think he wants a new face to freshen it up but probably hates the idea of spending even the paltry amounts he usually does in the summer.

I am not a big fan of loans but in January in an area where we need it .. i don’t see the problem.
the summer is a better time to do business.

But if he is a long term signing for Villa then yes it doesn’t bode well for us. We won’t really know that till the summer though.
