Saints 6 Villa 1

Not so long ago I said we would get just enough points to stay up and stay up we have courtesy of Spuds.

That’s the good news….

Today’s performance was a complete and utter shambles and shows that recent results have simply papered over the cracks. The same defensive errors that have plagued us for years were there for everyone to see. The whole back four (bar Bacuna) should hang their heads in shame. Hutton can be excused slightly as he was playing out of position. But whats worse is the defence made the same mistakes over and over again! The midfield weren’t much better with none of them offering anything defensively or going forward. Cleverley was back to the non existent, useless player he has been for most of the season.

As for Sherwood he must take a large share of the blame. Why for example did he play a high defensive line with two slow centre backs? Why was our only attacking option lumping or crossing it up to Benteke? Why was Benteke the only player in their box? Where where the forward runs of Grealish and Cleverley to support him.

I have said on many occasion that I do not think Sherwood is the right man for the job today he proved that and was completely clueless as to change things around quickly enough to stop us getting hammered. Fwiw I like Sherwood and hope I’m proved wrong. As for our so-called defenders especially Vlaar the quicker we ship them out the better.

Wrong yet again! We didnt stay up ‘courtesy of Spurs’…..we stayed up because we have more points than the 3 relegated teams…..please get your facts right!

I know I’m right, what do you mean ‘in theory’?..the points table doesnt lie :). Anyway, dont really care if it was 10-1, we are safe!

That’ll teach me for not looking before I posted, Bill.
Still, never mind, two different outlooks that can both be commented on, as you suggest 🙂

News shocker, Ooh-ahh posts over the top negative reaction to villa loss citing how he predicted it all along – villa team, manager and season written off …
Post includes obligatory lack of support and contradiction but just controversial enough to gain comments and site traffic

Watched the game yesterday from sunny Bulgaria, which was an utter shambles, very embarrassing, the players should be ashamed of themselves. The managers comments after the game summed it up when he said the whole playing and coaching staff plus management let the club down. It would be a nice gesture if all staff and players donated their weeks wages each to ACORNS because they certainly did not earn it. I hope this gets some air time and the pressure is put on them as it is a small snip-it from their vast wealth.
At least we stay in the PL….thanks to the rest of the results.
