There has been a little bit of transfer rumours and speculation regarding Aston Villa in tabloids throughout the week. Starting with a surprising article by the Metro claiming that Aston Villa are set to sign Wolves winger Bakary Sako. It’s said that Aston Villa have been chasing the winger for some time and is set to beat West Brom for Sako who would join on a free transfer. The Mali international is keen to join up with Sherwood and has already netted 14 goals in the Championship for Wolves.
This rumour is a little surprising because Aston Villa already have Grealish who is a left-midfielder and a key part of Sherwood’s plans. Plus, Sinclair is also likely to sign for Villa at the end of the season. Surely it’s going to be one or the other. Wolves and Sako are also in talks over a new contract, so any validity of this rumour will be soon confirmed depending whether or not Sako signs a new deal with Wolves.
Micah Richards is linked with Aston Villa, not the first time Richards has been linked with a move with Villa and surely not the last time either. Richards contract with Man. City expires over the summer and is currently on loan at Fiorentina. He has struggled to get into their starting 11 and has made around 9 appearances for the Italian club. However, despite this former Man. City boss Mancini was keen on signing Richards on loan in January and will most likely make another move in the summer. In England the likes of Villa, Southampton, Everton and West Ham are all monitoring his situation. Apparently Sherwood would be keen on adding the Englishmen to his defence.
Richards is only 26, quite astonishing really, seems as though he has been playing forever. But I wonder why Sherwood would look to sign another right-back if Villa already have Lowton, Bacuna and Hutton. Perhaps he doesn’t rate any of our right-backs? Could we see Lowton leave Villa? These are all difficult questions to answer, but since Villa have been linked with Richards on several occasions, I’d be surprised if this move finally happened.
Some news and speculation from Spain see’s Cordoba striker Florin Andone linked with Aston Villa. Apparently, Aston Villa held talks with Cordoba over a possible move for the 22-year old striker. Cordoba are set to be relegated from La Liga and will face financial trouble. This will allow Aston Villa to sign the young striker for a fee of roughly £2.5 million, a bargain price considering the fact that Cordoba value Andone at £6 million. Andone has scored 6 goals in 17 games for the struggling side but has been called up for the Romanian international team and looks like a decent player.
I do think that Sherwood will bring in a striker in the summer. I do believe that Weimann will be sold in the summer, because he hasn’t really developed and just doesn’t add as much to the team as Agbonlahor and Benteke. Could Andone be the player to replace Weimann?
