Following the defeat to Leicester City a petition named ‘Remove Paul Lambert‘ has been introduced, so far bearing 1,110 signatures. Villa fans are becoming increasingly fed up with the lack of goals and the style of play. Unfortunately it appears unlikely that Randy Lerner is putting any kind of the pressure on Paul Lambert, all the heat appears to be coming from Villa supporters. Shouts of ‘We want Lambert out’ and ‘We want our Villa back’ were heard during the game against Leicester City on Saturday.
Aston Villa haven’t scored in 12 hours of game time, and have now only managed 11 goals in 20 games. Villa are on target on scoring less goals then Derby County in 2007/8 season (20 goals). Villa fans have also only witnessed two league wins in 17 further increasing fans discontent in Paul Lambert’s reign.
Paul Lambert’s response to the recent pressure:
“The fans pay a lot of money to come and watch,” he said. “I don’t want Aston Villato keep doing what they are doing. It’s a great club with a great fan base. We just have to take it, we have to come through it. There are only two ways you can go: you either sink or you swim. But the more important thing is the game, that’s more important than people’s feelings towards myself. We’ve just got to work hard and we need a bit more creativity in the final third.”
As much as I’d like a change of manager, I highly doubt it’s going to happen. I just don’t see Lerner sacking a manager who had just received a new four-year deal in September. Having said that, the least Lerner could do is provide funds for Lambert and allow him to sign two attacking minded players in Sinclair and Gils. Because for now, I think it’s the only way forward and possibly the only way to give some morale to the team.
I wouldn”t give lambert another penny
if managed better we have the players.
my team for next week with the players prob available

Just signed myself
Cheers Patrick same here.
Those who want to sign, the link is hyperlinked under the “Remove Paul Lambert”
Adam please explain ? What do you mean.
On the article, click on the opening sentence where it states ‘Remove Lambert’
I’ve signed it. Yesterday was the last straw, we did nothing of improvements from the game before.
I am convinced we have the players just not the right managerial approach or stratagy,
Tom Fox will listen to the fans, but he will also want to keep stability within the club, and as he is in control of the financials will not want to loose the millions if relegation is about to happen.
Why doesn’t Lerner spend some of this so called transfer kitty to sack Lambert,I think that would be money we’ll spent.
Well fucking spell checker.
My Old Man Said they “heard” rumours Villa are looking to get a director of football in. Who would do all contracts and signings of players, leaving Lambert who seems safe as of now more time on the training pitch. Seems Lambert has full control over the football side of things at Villa and Fox is trying to change that. Be good to see Lambert out of control of everything football at Villa and does show how inept he is not just on the pitch, but off it as well.
We don’t need a director of football we need that pray out , NOW!
PRAT out now.
Can’t we keep the extra goal posts used in pre match warm ups maybe with a pair to aim at surely they would hit 1 of the nets.wouldn’t they?????
Petition signed
Have you all gone to bed???????
Bill you called it right (we’d get turned over) but I was got it right there’d be only 1 goal in it.
Are BWS you did 0-1 0-0 1-0 couldn’t lose.
honestly lads, I am glad there is this much vocal dissent making its way to villa park, If it doesn’t result in Lambert sacking which would make a lot of villa dans happy ( at least in the short term until they realise the next manager is the same calibre possibly worse, but with the same resources available to him) SoI still can’t see an alternative to Lambert with our current structure, chairman, spend, we will just end up like west brom etc chopping and changing to no great effect, It might give us a boost in the short term, the new manager feel. The director of football idea greatly appeals to me.
I think of Southampton and how well it worked, then of course there is the example of newcastle where it didn’t, but as long a we are trying something different.
hopefully the backlash from fans results in something positive for Villa
And the present state of affairs is just peachy? At least the Baggies have a chairman that gives a shite and ahs the b****x to change direction if he feels its not working! Unlike our stay away, living on daddies money waste of space owner who is turning us to nothing other than aston41pionters … As long as the SKY check drops through the door in August well it’s f**k The fans!
*has*
Colonius81 ,you all keep saying what’s the alternative, the alternative is plain, anything is better than what we have, for starters change of direction, 2nd different approach to what fans pay for, a club to be proud of , should I go on,? do you think we have the right guy at the club? No he should have not taken the club on being ask to work on a shoe string. He has no fucking idea of football what so ever, and no excuse to be Aston Villa manager.I for one would ideally kick the twat up the arse for what he has done, his coaching staff are as much to blame. Cheap dregs want to be coaching people.
please do go on!
So the alternative to Lambert is .. a change of direction, a different approach, establish pride again in the club ..Can you elaborate on how that would be achieved? .. that is all very desirable and what I would want to see too! .. …how exactly do you got about getting all those to be honest nice but really vague ideas ? don’t say fire lambert and let the chips fall where they may, because thats just frustration and fan passion its not a real world solution. Who do you think would come in to replace him? what approach would they have? where do you think Villa would end up under that coach/ team, how much more do you think this squad can achieve. Don’t get me wrong Lambert is in a brutal run and the teams performances are dire It needs to improve but I can’t see how firing Lambert and taking a punt ( with the same chairman that hired Lambert and that underfunded or funded the wrong purchases under Lambert which ever way you want to call it) will achieve that any sooner than sticking with Lambert.
I am tired of this bollox relegation fight status year on year too. but I just haven’t been convinced by the fire Lambert first then see what happens approach being the answer.
Have we not tried that before .. what if the next manager is worse? ( bear in mind what great coach up and coming coach would want to take the Villa job?)
If Lerner is as loyal to Lambert as he to the next guy .. are you ready for Lambert 2.0 but with the clock reset?
I don’t know .. give me a name for his replacement and I would think about signing that petition.
So what do you suggest put our head in the sands and hope it goes away? Its plain to most and even with you agony of 4 year’s is not what us Villa fans want, but I do say he’s got to go and now for me, I can see that that’s not your way but he took a job that was dead from day one, even you can see with some of his team selection made us think what the hells doing. Colonius 81 West brom moved on so did Palace, sorry have to go vets just rang lost my dog.
Agree with you COLONIUS81. Most on here are saying sack Lambert but not one person has come up with a realistic name who is available. People don’t look at the bigger picture.
Just off topic anyone watch saints beat Utd. What a fantastic defendive, professional perornance by a tesm that sold all its best plsyers v a £200m plus tesm. I know we cant compete with city etc but surely thats a blueprint for all clubs outside the top 4 of how to manage a team properly. Surely for us to be the new saints is within our remit. Utd had nearly £300m of players and didn’t get one shot on target Ffs
i watched that game to cheer me up 🙂 you forgot to mention they had 60 plus % off the ball without as you said no shots on target
Ha ha true. It just goes ti show that with £300m worth of talent they csn still strugke agsibst an orgsnised team that cost a fraction of that. Tbf we did better v saints than they did lol
The Utd performance was very like Villa. Lot’s of possession with very little threat. They have class players where we don’t as well. For them, despite their problems, it’s more of a rarity. For us it’s the norm. We have the wrong manager. With the right manager we would be a good deal better even with the existing team/squad. However, how many “right” managers has Lerner appointed? Maybe with Fox instead of Faulkner we might. i have little faith though and certainly suspect that the “right” manager wouldn’t be interested without the promise of backing in the transfer market.
True DS. Would love a team like saints to crack top 4 sick of the dky gavourites every year mskes me sick
Oohah I know what your saying , fk utd not interested , its what problems we have, we all know they started from scratch ! so did did we, you have and was the first to pick on Lambert and quite rightly, I’m so pissed off that fuck all is being done, and about a man that’s got hold of my football team, he has made us a laughing stock of the league, so can we find a way we can fight back,ie get at Lerner, he bought a house by me then after he played, Im the man fucked off back to the states knowingly he was going to drive Villa into the ground, that’s what yanks do.
Agree Bill
Too right Oohah. [BTW I’ve just signed the petition, thanks to all who got it up and running.] You can say what you like about the depths to which Villa have fallen off the pitch, but you would have a hard job to convince anybody that Villa have a smaller fan-base than Saints, we have a bigger stadium and catchment area. Between Seasons our owner wanted to sell the whole club and failed. The Saints owner insisted they sell all their big-value players and succeeded. So you can make the case that both teams started this season with a lot to prove. What is the difference? Kouman v Lambert.
Sign up please.
Exactly OOL they are a blue print for teams like us in the future. With a decent foreign coach with dome nous you dont need to sornd that much money. Whether they will sustain it is doubtful as they will get injuries and nedia already tslking their players up to a sky 4 team. Disgusting imo
SIGNED….
Have we signed Carlos gil ? Twitter seems to suggest so.
seems so figures around 3mill, but i will keep calm until i see him in our colors and see if hes any good, i aven’t heard of him before, has anybody seen anything of him and what hes like if so
He’ll need 6 months to settle in by which time we’ll be in the Championship.
He’s got no chance – in Spain you get 10mins before someone comes to tackle you whereas here, your lucky if you get 10secs.
They should use that money to get rid of that “manager” instead.
one can only hope he settles quicker, seems like hes a ex team mate of sanchez so hopefully having a mate will speed up the progress,
anyone seen him play ??????????? andrew gloats to know the most, i haven’t heard anything much, i never seen him so i can only hope thats HOPE >>>>> in case iam misinterpreted, hope hes decent, like sanchez is but more forward thinking
Is his name Carles Gil…from same club as Sanchez.
Yes he does dont get him mixed up with Carlos gil who plays for Corinthians
Here’s a cracking article, that sums up my feelings perfectly;
http://www.espnfc.co.uk/club/aston-villa/362/blog/post/2239172/lambert-must-go-villa-are-a-laughingstock
That geezer read my post.Badger.
its already been said a billion times, fire lambert .. then .. nothing no answers no suggestions .. just the cop out.. ” it couldn’t be worse” it can be or can be the exact same ..
You are right Colonius but the point you are ignoring is that Villa are not really improving under Lambert. We should be in a better position than we are now, even allowing for Lerner’s cost cutting. A better manager/tactician would be able to get the team playing better football. That is the minimum fans want. I agree that change doesn’t guarantee success, and the underlying cutting back on investment with a no longer committed owner would not change. I am like most other fans in that I don’t have the answer. It doesn’t mean I and others can’t ask the question though.
Things need to change, and I can’t see any reason to trust Lambert to deliver that. As it stands, it just looks like Lerner is happy to sit back until a buyer finally comes along, while the fans have to suffer watching rubbish week in week out with no real prospect of things improving.
The interesting debate is, “who should replace Lambert, and would he take the job?”
i think Colonius81 holds on to the points, can lerner finally land a manger at his 3rd or 4th attempts. or if he could identify the right …. candidate, could he persuade him to come to villa? bare in mind … no money…low wage budgets…lots of decent managers turned villa down before lambert…what where their reasons ????
change does need to happen because this club has a stench of relegation about it, current manager has no answers to regain the crowd confidence, if he ever had it to start with.
any1 believes the players aren’t to blame is also dreaming. we have too many average players, guzan has come out and said, players should be held responsible and i totally agree with that, too many are in a comfort zone. funny how we never get offers for any of them, benteke aside the rest of um need to look in the mirror and realize fans are paying their wages, so they should at least break into a sweat. seems the owner and players have been hiding behind the manager
have we signed anybody else YET 🙂
p.s if we could kidnap cloughie junior or beg mclaron for forgiveness i would be into that. any thoughts of who and would they be up 4 it
No one could do any worse ffs. Look at some of the names Newcastle are linked with surely they must be better than that clown. It’s like saying il stick with my girlfriend that I dint love because il never get anyone better. Complete rubbish
thats just not true Ooh ahh, we can do worse or as is more likely the exact same. but with the cost of another manager golden handshake to further reduce our meagre transfer funds.
And lets face it if we are worse off as you believe than where we were before lambert came, and so we received many refusals from managers at that point, What chance have we now of recruiting the manager we want/need?
I am also following the newcastle manager race, and I hear ya, some of the names ( remi grade!) sound exciting and you would have to wonder why they would go to newcastle over us, what have they got? and to be honest a better transfer policy, better recruitment, bigger stadium and in the last few years better league position (which wouldn’t be hard) their chairman is a joke and taints the club from top to bottom but if you were a younger european coach hoping to get to the premier league .. on paper at least Newcastle are probably more enticing. for shame .. (no offence to NUfc fans, they are great fans and have endured a lot. I just mean that in terms how much of a dick their chairman is and yet ours could be an even bigger reason to prevent a decent manager coming to Villa)
I’d rather give lamberk a pay off and bring someone else in tbh
I really think it’s all going to go off Saturday enoughs enough now.
Interesting national vote on BBC web site on clubs to be relegated this term. Villa third favourites behind Leicester and QPR (both of which have beaten us already). Those two odds on, Villa 10.3%, fourth favourite Burlnley a whole % point behind. Says it all really……. Oh and I think Lerner’s left it to late to change managers – we should have gone for Pullis. There is no point bringing in another ‘up and coming’ young manager with no prem experience at this stage in the season – we’ll have to do that next year when we are in the Championship.
i think as it stands villa are with QPR and hull tigers my 3 to drop, things like no money to change things , too late as you said, even if they did decide to spend big and change manager. also the atmosphere around us and home form , no invention with current players, unable and good enough to play patient possession game.
heard on radio talk shit a spanish expert say the new amigo we signed needs time and isn’t by far the finished article
The club has been disappointed with this season’s results, performances and the general message these have sent to our fans. The board wishes to assure supporters that we are conscious in every sense that Villa expects and deserves more and we will strive to deliver this.
Villa chairman Randy Lerner said: “We need to be clear and candid with ourselves and with supporters about what we have lacked in recent years.
“Compelling play and results that instil a sense of confidence that Villa is on the right track have been plainly absent.
“The most immediate action that we can take is to look carefully at our options in terms of bringing in a new manager who sees the club’s potential and embraces our collective expectations.”
Sorry to get your hopes up – that’s what RL said in 2012 before bringing in Lambert. However when he fires him, he won’t need a new speech, will he?
Good bit of research OLL.
Like a lot going on at Villa – three years of meaningless words – most of it unintelligible!
