Pre-season in full swing & a look at the latest transfer rumours.

Well, I think we’ve played about 3-4 pre season games so far, and me being my usual self wanting a break from watching football in the summer I haven’t watched a single minute of it. I haven’t even thought about the Super Cup Final, but that’s probably because I’m not going – money talks, unfortunately.

A look at the results so far – a stonking win against Walsall (yes, I’ll throw in the super original “five star performance” that always used to describe a 5-goal win), a 2-1 loss to Porto, which I believe was largely their first team against mostly Villa youth, and a 2-4 loss to Real Sociedad, which apparently was men against boys.

I am the first to say that pre-season results mean nothing, we’ve seen it all before. I mean, if the first five games of the Premiership mean nothing, then pre-season definitely means nothing. I don’t see why people can’t accurately comment on our performance without people accusing them of overreacting though, I saw a guy on FB get slandered for doing so after the Sociedad game – if we played rubbish, then that’s not overreacting, it’s just telling the likes of me who never bothered to tune in what the game was like.

Despite not watching so far, I’ve heard great thinks about this Madjo, as we as Hemmings. One player who I was pleased to see in the starting 11 was Joao Gomes, who I think is a superb signing. Let’s hope our youth can go through the flourishing phase it went through when we were producing players who teams instantly wanted to sign for £30m, like Chukweumeka. Mind you, I’ve heard nothing about him since he left us.

Transfer rumours time. The big name we’ve all heard being Nicolas Jackson. My thoughts are, if Emery is happy then I am happy. But to be honest, the likes of Jackson is something we cry out for anyway, a physical striker. It was brilliant to have Tammy back, but he’s not a top level striker whereas Jackson is younger and still has years of potential. I hope we sign him actually.

I’ve also heard the name Pervis Estupinian. Whether that deal is still on or not, I think he’s definitely an upgrade on what we have now. To be honest, I’d like to see us turn Maatsen into a winger.

Since my last article, which aren’t regular at the moment – as I said I do like to take a break from football in the summer, but I do thoroughly enjoy reading all your comments so am trying to publish regular articles to keep the Villa chat going – we have signed Alejandro Garnacho. Again, if Emery is happy then so am I, but the Villa fans doubting him already ought to make themselves known if he produces for us, because why on earth would anyone slander a player before he’s even played for their club? It makes zero sense.

A surprisingly active window given the signals that we were given last month regarding PSR, but then again it would be terrible for us Villa fans to be too happy after winning the Europa League – you know they have to throw something in to kill our mood. Mind you, I think anything would be better than the current state of Newcastle. Howe gone, Bruno potentially on his way out. I think the Saudis have simply given up and will be looking to jump ship ASAP.
