Well, that was a comprehensive win over Newcastle, wasn’t it?
And regardless of what some of their deluded and obsessive web-site fans think, my opinion is that if we’re going to be relegated, they’re going to be below us.
I simply thought they were awful because of the way they’re being played by Steve Bruce.
I never did get round to going on a certain site and handing back some of the abuse the Newcastle fans handed out to our club and it’s probably just as well really, as it’s not my style. I prefer our results to do the talking and we got that by some distance.
Moving on, I know it’s Man U away and our record against them is frankly criminal, but they’re not the force they were, are they?
Hence I think they’re now very beatable.
It seems Dean Smith agrees and he’s talked about how we’ve been competitive against the likes of Liverpool, even though we haven’t got the results.
It’s also interesting to see that Newcastle managed a draw against Man City today, which sort of proves that this year’s Premier league is very even, or even poor.
So anyone can beat anyone it seems and when I mentioned to a (Derby) workmate that we face Man U away, he said “I reckon you might actually do them” before I did.
Which just goes to show. Maybe we’re not as bad as we think we are at times.
That said, it’s not been often that I’ve thought we’re bad. It’s just getting the results, isn’t it?
Anyway, squad news and on our part, I think we’re ok the usual apart.
Man Utd have Pogba and McTominay as possibles.
Which is interesting in itself.
Not long back, I’d have been able to rattle off Man U’s first team, no problem.
Nowadays, I haven’t even heard of McTominay.
That’s how far they’ve fallen and they really aren’t a force anymore.
They’re still a big club with massive support though.
Yet, they’re only three points in front of us.
I don’t think Dean Smith will bottle it for this one and will want to take it to Man U as best we can.
I’m going for a draw. 2-2.
But, as much as history and them being at home says we’ll probably lose, so it really wouldn’t surprise me if we win.
2-2 I’ll take Badger , seeing games today we can match.
anybody see the Newcastle second equaliser, it was very similar to wolves goal against us. poor defending by city and us, both anticipated the crossed ball and allowed the main dead ball expert free at the edge of the box to strike in at goal unopposed.
i cant wait for the game tomorrow, i really believe, if we show up as we have mostly this season apart from the wolves game. that we can turn over utd in their backyard. i seen them a few times and they are not the utd off old and very beatable. our midfield and defence is better than theirs. we could go their and dominate the ball. utd do have some speedy front men and that is their danger.
we will never have a better chance to put one over utd for all the hurt they caused us, with all their smash and grab comebacks over the years. 3 1 to villa
My heart says we will win today but my head says we will just add to the awful stats against united. We seem to have lost against them before a ball is kicked. Come on Deano setup positive and get players running in to the box. If we sit back like city and let them pass it around and pick the right pass we will lose. Could be a massive 3 points today as i dont think Norwich will lose to arsenal.
i think smith is a positive manager. it would have hurt him, to set up negatively against city and pool. but i believe it was the correct decision in them two games.against utd i don’t think we should pay them too much respect, that affect our offensive game. i think smith will play this game with 3 points on offer, that has to be applauded by us, we know most games he will try to win unlike past managers we had.
Nice to see I’m not alone Nath.
Although I’d definitely take Bill’s 2-2 too.
That’d be a point gained for us and two lost for them.
Sorry guys, posted my terrible Villa v Manure / PL away games and games against top 6 on the last thread (missed this one on account of too much rum – again).
On the basis of possibility then we’re due a result – having only won 1 of the last 41 PL games against them (L30) – and that was away 10 years ago! That’s not just criminal it’s downright embarrassing.
Maybe it’ll be different this time but I’m not holding my breathe.
Analysis of the PL table shows that the difference between 6th and 17th is about games that you don’t lose meaning that draws are going to be vitally important come the end of the season.
I’ll take your 2-2 Badger
Copied across Hitch, so we can see how bad the stats are;
Here’s some pretty sobering statistics –
Villa have only won once in the last 41 meetings with Manure (home and away) and that was a 1-0 win away 10 years ago (L30 D10)
Villa have only won one away game in their last 24 PL games (and that against Norwich) (L20 D3)
Villa haven’t won a single game against the established top six in 17 games only one of which was drawn! (L16)
JG is the most fouled player in the PL (45 times) which is an average of 4 per match!
Some things never change.
I thought I’d bet the house on a double – Villa to win and JG not to draw a single foul 🙂
Ah well maybe not!
Take a draw tomorrow but I’m not holding my breathe.
So long as we don’t bottle it, as we did at the Etihad. Smith talked about why he dropped Hourihane against Citeh, citing the fact that he did not expect Villa to have much possession. On that basis I think we were beaten before we stepped out. Surely this United don’t justify that fear factor. We will not win sitting back, but we don’t have to take the game to them. We do need to play end to end and Hourihane is key because shooting straight from distance may be the decisive skill.
We shouldn’t fear Man Ure at the moment. They are vulnerable and apart from their front three, Maguire and De Gea, they are distinctly average. Our midfield is better than theirs IMO. If we can boss that department and dominate possession then frustration might creep in. Man Ure are mostly dangerous on the counter attack whereas under Ferguson they crushed most teams, especially at Old Trafford. I’m hoping Smith keeps the same team. No reason to change things!
Usually away at Old Trafford I feel like we’ve lost before kickoff. This time however circumstances are different and this time I think we have a good chance of victory. 1-2 to us! As long as Kevin Friend or VAR don’t screw us over.
if its kevin friend were done for before a ball is kicked
If we win, we’ll be 3 points off the top 5. The PL is becoming more like the Championship imo…
They’re rubbish. Expecting an easy 3-0 win.
Villa have won 1 game and lost 5 away from home this season. The sole win was against Norwich.
They are the worst away side in the league so far.
Having said that probably will be a difficult game.
5-0
just a few utd fan comments.
lucky arsenal 1 1 at norwich. they missed a pen and had to retake cause norwich goalie saved it and was just a inch off his line when pen was struck. villa game is live on beinghdtv2 on firestick after the arsenal game
delete the above post if its against the site rules / i just trying to help those who might be looking for a link
Don’t worry Nath I’ve got it on a chanal that’s legal , ₩₩₩S. ₩3₩₩HD. ₩
UP THE VILLA.
Fuck me what a goal from super Jack..
Southgate wants a kick up the arse not trying Jack. absolutely brilliat goal .
Ain’t nobody on here? Might as watch the game..
Where is it on?????
Got R5L on…
Not able to watch it so reading reports. Fans blaming Mings for their equaliser.
Mings’ place in the starting 11 should be under threat. Another error results in a goal. Not good enough at the moment.
i can not believe how we are not two or three up now. their goal came from our mistake 🙁 1 1 totally flatters them
Gonna be an interesting second half, that’s for sure!
How are we not winning that half?
Totally bossed it, Man are not confident, losing the ball and challenges.
We’re much the better team, but I still fear for our luck.
Trez was offside for his goal, but it was well before he actually netted.
Oh well.
And yes, Mings fault for their goal, messing about again and not clearing it first time. It really annoys me about him and while I do rate him, he can be a bloody liabilty at times.
Onwards and upwards. If that half is duplicated, we’ll win this.
If Mings is struggling, then now is the time for quality management as his attitude, commitment and ability are without question. All players go through bad periods, it’s just how the Manager deals with it without destroying the player. He may just need a smidge of time out. He hardly looks like the type of player who takes his place for granted.
Now, Villa, sort this dirty, shit ManU side out!!!!
but its now a goal 2 2 god bless you VAR
