Man U – Villa; Could we possibly beat them?

Well, that was a comprehensive win over Newcastle, wasn’t it?
And regardless of what some of their deluded and obsessive web-site fans think, my opinion is that if we’re going to be relegated, they’re going to be below us.
I simply thought they were awful because of the way they’re being played by Steve Bruce.

I never did get round to going on a certain site and handing back some of the abuse the Newcastle fans handed out to our club and it’s probably just as well really, as it’s not my style. I prefer our results to do the talking and we got that by some distance.

Moving on, I know it’s Man U away and our record against them is frankly criminal, but they’re not the force they were, are they?
Hence I think they’re now very beatable.
It seems Dean Smith agrees and he’s talked about how we’ve been competitive against the likes of Liverpool, even though we haven’t got the results.
It’s also interesting to see that Newcastle managed a draw against Man City today, which sort of proves that this year’s Premier league is very even, or even poor.

So anyone can beat anyone it seems and when I mentioned to a (Derby) workmate that we face Man U away, he said “I reckon you might actually do them” before I did.
Which just goes to show. Maybe we’re not as bad as we think we are at times.
That said, it’s not been often that I’ve thought we’re bad. It’s just getting the results, isn’t it?

Anyway, squad news and on our part, I think we’re ok the usual apart.

Man Utd have Pogba and McTominay as possibles.
Which is interesting in itself.
Not long back, I’d have been able to rattle off Man U’s first team, no problem.
Nowadays, I haven’t even heard of McTominay.
That’s how far they’ve fallen and they really aren’t a force anymore.

They’re still a big club with massive support though.
Yet, they’re only three points in front of us.

I don’t think Dean Smith will bottle it for this one and will want to take it to Man U as best we can.

I’m going for a draw. 2-2.

But, as much as history and them being at home says we’ll probably lose, so it really wouldn’t surprise me if we win.

Villa now dropping deeper and the ball can only go into the goal it is nearest all the time. Liverpool ring any bells Deano? Time for subs and/or instructions.

Look on the bright side, if Ronaldo was still at ManU, they’d be 6-1 up by now…

i feel deflated and disappointed so that will tell you we really deserved more than the point. i feel first half we were in total control until we started to get complacent and that lead to a mistake and their equaliser,. second half was more even or end to end. i thought they were gonna robbed us the mings equaliser. i think we are the ones to be dispointed with a point, utd will be happy deep down that they didn’t get beaten as their performance deserved.

      I’m here Bill!

I am happy with a point as our away record is not strong in the Premiership. As long as we have 20 points after 19 matches I will be happy.

That’s 4 points this week. One point from our next two fixtures will be good. Three would be a bonus win not expecting. I can’t even think of what six points would mean.

Long May Jack Grealish keep delivering. Goals was what was missing from his game and now he’s adding them to his arsenal.

Sid, its a crying shame that Grealish is not recognised by Southgate, still its our luck to have him with us, sod Southgate he will get shot down in the next rounds.

I thought the stars were aligning for us to paste ManU today. Both sides had their halfs, both made mistakes. Mings made up for his, so all is square for me. And the goal line clearance actually puts him in the plus column. Would I have taken 2-2 before kick off? Probably, yeah.

Here’s to the next game kids!!!

No reason we can’t take 2 points from the next two. Then there’s some very winnable stuff over the Christmas program. Last two games have stabilised us after the losing streak. Happy with the point today!

I want to make the point that even though most would say it’s up front that we need to strengthen, the facts would suggest that it’s the defence that is the reason we’re not in the top 10 at least. Not enough clean sheets makes it harder to get 3 points. So we’re making it hard for ourselves. Simple. If Terry and co can sort it and we get a sharp striker in Jan, we’ll be looking in damn good shape and very competitive at this level. Improvements to be made…

Just got back from a great lunch in a super restaurant right on the beach on the West Coast – bl**dy hot though 🙂 Kids kept me and the missus updated on the score though through WhatsAp.

Sounds like we well deserved the draw and, maybe, should have nicked all three points.

Notwithstanding, a draw’s a good result and Badger gets bonus points for predicting the score correctly. As I said previously, picking up draws in difficult games will be the difference between success and failure this season.,
