Man. City Vs Aston Villa – Preview

The pressure is off of one of these sides, and it’s Aston Villa! We will be playing in the Premier League next season so we can play this game with zero fear and I want to see our team go for it! Villa played well in last weekends 3-1 win over Hull City, Weimann and Bowery were the two stand out players. There is a bit of pressure on City to get a result, all they need is 4 points to secure the title. This should be a good game, especially with Man. City looking for revenge after Aston Villa beat City earlier in the season 3-2.

James Milner could play against his former team tonight. Milner played for Aston Villa on two occasions, he was first sent out on loan to Villa for the 2005-2006 season making 27 appearances scoring 1 goal. In 2008 he transferred permanently for a club record fee of Β£12 million. Milner made 73 appearances scoring 11 goals over the course of two seasons. Milner moved to Man. City in 2010 for a deal of around Β£28.5 million, including a player exchange Stephen Ireland whose value was Β£8 million.

Team News:
Sergio Aguero is out with an injury and will miss the game against Aston Villa. Jesus Navas has recovered from an ankle injury and is set to feature while Yaya Toure has recovered to full match fitness.

Gabriel Agbonlahor is a major doubt after limping off with a knee injury against Hull. Joe Bennett is still out with an ankle injury.

Match Facts:
Manchester City have won 10 of their last 11 home games against Aston Villa in the Barclays Premier League (L1).
Aston Villa have taken just two points from their last seven Barclays Premier League away games (D2 L5).
Man City need four goals to score 100 in a league season for the first time since 2001-02 (scored 108 in a 46-game second tier campaign).
Villa need three points from their last two Premier League games of 2013-14 to match the total they recorded last season (41).
Samir NasriΒ has scored or assisted a goal in six of his last nine PL apps for Man City.
Yaya Toure has scored or assisted 26 goals in 33 Premier League appearances this season – he had a hand in 12 goals in each of his previous three PL seasons.
Man City’s total of 57 home goals in the Premier League is 18 more than the Villans have in total (39).

Predicted Lineups:

Hart
Zabaleta-Kompany-Demichelis-Clichy
Milner-Fernandinho-Toure-Nasri
Silva
Dzeko

Weimann
Bowery-Albrighton
Westwood-Delph
Bertrand-Clark-Baker-Vlaar-Lowton
Guzan

Match Prediction:
Man. City 3-1 Aston Villa

It wouldn’t be a dumb idea to bet on a draw, Aston Villa have nothing to lose, so they could just go for it. Man City have an entire title to lose in the space of two games. Pressure will be on, but I still expect City to score a couple of goals. Dzeko has been playing really well and a fit Yaya Toure is almost impossible to stop. Aston Villa have seriously struggled to score goals, Weimann did well but I think he’ll be closely marked. Still, this is the Premier League and anything can happen.

  1. I’ve said before it’s that time of the season for shock results so maybe tonight,or it could go pearshaped.I’m going 1-2 VILLA or 7-1 CITY, the pressures on them. UTV

Just fancy us tonight giddy can see is getting a result. We won’t get hammered like everyone thinks. City don’t really hammer anyone these days

    Bum Bum

Villa win oddly enough…dunno what score.

    1. nath avatar

      now who’s been drinking lmao

  3. They will batter us tonight and i hope they do if we were to sneak a result it would again paper over the cracks. Even after beating Hull i heard people saying we arnt that bad Bowrey is a good player etc etc etc all this is rubbish we need a complete overhall a 5 or 6 goal spanking would help show up what needs to be done in the summer.

    1. CB….are you amanic depressive by any chance?…..you make oohah sound happy πŸ™‚
Or are you another one who wanted us relegated?

      1. I wanted us to stay up but everyone to be in no doubt at how bad we are and how much things need to change

        1. Fair enough mate. Nobody would argue that point. Just got to make sure it happens now. Cant have another shit season like the last four!

    2. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
      OohAhPaulMcGrath

When we beat them last time it papered over the cracks beat them again and lambert is here for another season at least πŸ™

      1. If we beat them again surely it means that they are a decent side lacking in consistency. Better coaching from Sid and 4 quality signings will see us progress…..thats down to Randy (or new owners) to loosen the purse strings!

  4. nath avatar

i am looking forwards to this game, pressure is off, nobody is really giving us a chance in hell of winning or even getting a draw. but who cares what they say, pool fans want a performance, like we showed up there, they know first hand, we can play. everyone will be watching this game. time for us 2 spoil the party. these players need 2 perform for themselves and us fans, i do av a sneaky gut feeling, we will pull off a real shocker,

    villa killers 2,3 victory
    VTID

    1. You really want lambert and that awfull squad of ours to get compliments off the country for how they spoiled the party. We need them to be a laughing stock tonight so everyone can be in no doubt as to how awfull we are

      1. nath avatar

i support aston villa, i want us to win every time they play, if winning games affect other teams sobeit, lambert lambert lmabert ~some fans need 2 get a life and forget lambert, if we are sold lambert will be sacked end of the subject. if villa beat city and spurs and we get taken over, lambert will still be sacked, its a match day and iam sick of this lambert obsessions

        1. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
          OohAhPaulMcGrath

People think lambert should be given another chance after hull. Bear city and spuds and lamberk apologists will be out in full force. No thanks

      2. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
        OohAhPaulMcGrath

So true the media think lamberks doing a good job as it is lol

        1. nath avatar

i believe lambert stays only as long as lerner is owner, look at facts lambert reached the goals lerner set. reduce the debt of 200mill now around 2/3 less than before lambert arrived. reduce running costs ie wages this summer all of the big earners will av gone. most important one keeping villa in the top flight. these goals were important 2 selling the club. i believe they will sell villa and lerner will be desperate 2 sell and lambert will go

    2. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
      OohAhPaulMcGrath

Iv a sneaky feeling we will get a result tonight can’t see us losing as city are a bag of nerves. I think like you say 3.2 to us or 2.2 draw.

  5. Well said Nath…bollox to the other 19 premier league teams. I want to win EVERY game with just one exception….if we had to lose to relegate the scum then I would want to!

    1. Langford, ???? now why should you hate that much, its football not a war. I love he Villa. But don’t hate Birmingham, just sorry we don’t play the fuckers. I’ve seen the games in the past most on here will never see that. Crying shame for them.

We beat hull city at home & everybody all of a sudden thinks were a decent side with a good manager , don’t make me laugh we are still shit with a shit manager and will ship at least four goals tonight and hopefully tonight will seal lamberts fate ………… Or will there be more exuses by the lambert symphersisers , it’s man city , he’s had to work on a shoe string , Bennett and Sylla will come good etc etc !

    1. nath avatar

why is villa team shit markham

nobody disagrees with u, but could u expand on shit, maybe explain were we went wrong, when we went wrong, offer a solution to stop bein shit

      1. Sorry Nath I agree with him, As for how to put it right sticks out a mile, in fact Nath hopefully all will be put right in the closed season, New owner (hopefully)and new manager that understands football and English language, if you have not had enough over the last 3 years I bloody have.

        1. nath avatar

didn’t QPR last year have new owners and spent millions ok thats last year wot about this year fulham av new owners didn’t they wait did cardiff also av new owners ~ all that glitters is not gold new owners and spending money didn’t help just three i can be bother 2 mention

Fulham let go of the Michael Jackson statue…. They were clueless. πŸ˜‰

          2. Hold on nath Fulham were relegated because they sold the Michael Jackson statue well that’s according to Al fayed if you red it today. πŸ™‚

            Markham

Nathan shit is a team that has scraped survival for the 3rd season on the trot on 38 points , a pathetic home record with probably the worst squad I have known in my 25 years of supporting the club , oh and let’s not forget our billionaire owner who clearly doesn’t give a fuck , we are Aston Villa one of the biggest clubs in the country , wake up Nathan !!! We deserve better Lerner out Lambert out . #new era

      2. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
        OohAhPaulMcGrath

Very easy how many of our players would start in any other prem team top or bottom. Even the few quality players we have are injured long term ffs. Team is a shambles

    2. Yeah…we are so shit that we never got relegated despite 4 longterm injuries and spending less than the 3 relegated clubs who panicked, sacked their managers and went down…..yes we are shit, but NOT as shit as others. BTW, every team is shit compared to other teams i.e….Man Utd compared to Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal, Spurs etc. Barcelona are shit compared to Real Madrid, Athletico Madrid etc……..are you starting to understand or do I need to expand?

      1. With this manager and this squad it is only a matter of time before we drop. I agree we are shit and doubt there will be three worse teams than ours next season unless something changes, I also doubt we will win at Arsenal or beat Chelsea and Man City next season so take those points away and we will be down by christmas next season with this clown in charge

      2. Langford have you been on the pop? You’ve changed your stance of late, ffs, that’s our fucking luck and not down to a shit manager, we was the most luckiest team in the premier league by having other shit teams going out, Lambert has to go with the owner. Langford don’t forget how we was beaten by lower clubs from two divisions below.

        1. Bill….we cant affect the past. This great club ALWAYS hits back when the chips are down. Dont you recall the Div 3 days? Halifax, Carlisle, Chesterfield etc…..compared to that we are doing well.

          1. I’m the most positive person on here Langford, believe me, my problem is time I don’t have that anymore, so they have got to get on with it and quick.

          2. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
            OohAhPaulMcGrath

The division 3 team had more heart, passion and skill than the shit we have now. In fact they would still probably beat them

      3. Andrew avatar
        Andrew

Crystal Palace, West Bromich and Swansea all changed managers and stayed up. It’s never a given, but it happens a lot.

Bowery starts tonight and if we struggle there’s tonev on the bench. 3.0 to villa

      4. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
        OohAhPaulMcGrath

You don’t arf talk dross Langford. Teams like saints, Everton and spurs arnt bad. Even fulham have had 13 years where we are. The reason wev not gone down is pure luck ie fluking wins v city, saints. Plus the 4 or 5 teams below us are just that bit worse. Eventually we will go down. And let’s not forget our side isn’t that cheap Benteke 7m, Kozak 7m helenius 6m okore 5m vlaar 7m Delph 8m Bertrand a top 4 player allegedly. Don’t forget lambert has spent Β£20 m a season the same as mcclown and mclown was better than this shite. Β£20m is still more than saints etc

  7. nath avatar

can we talk about the game this was preview of the game tonight, so frustrating repeating opinions and ppl getting upset that u may av a different one.

  8. Andrew avatar
    Andrew

Grealish reportedly going to make the bench tonight. Would be great to see him get time. Can only think Cowans idea.

    1. Andrew..agred mate. Would love to see him get at least 30 mins or so!

    2. nath avatar

THANXS andrew good news big thing i av heard of this kid πŸ™‚

  9. Time to stop slagging the club off at every opportunity. Lets see where we are in August. If the finances are still shit then I will be first to complain. I will enjoy my summer knowing that things can and MUST get better. So lay off for now, thats all I am asking!
Enjoy the game (STRESS FREE)…….. Its a long time since I’ve been able to do that! πŸ™‚

    1. nath avatar

very wise indeed ~ i don’t get some ppl. we are safe ~ yes things need 2 change and yes they will, but enjoy life and stop fretting, 2nite we are playing, we are all the same, in our our villa colors.

      1. Well on my smart TV I will be watching the game and the colour the English colour and not the yanks color, I’m saying 3-1 City. Utv.

    2. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
      OohAhPaulMcGrath

Didn’t you say this lets see where they are in aug bollox last year Langford. I don’t think u need a crystal ball to work that one out

      1. But your a Lerner apologist……thats why we are where we are. I suspect that you will be happy for Randolph to spend a pittance again so that you can moan your way fromAugust to May. Me…..positive that changes MUST and WILL happen. Roll on August when Randolph will be banished from VP for ever….good riddance!
Fuck off Lerner, the Villa is OURS

      Where’s Albrighton

      1. Andrew avatar
        Andrew

Not a clue. Dunno if he’s injured or what.

      2. It would be like him to drop him just to piss us off,

      3. Albrightons got to be injured???isn’t he??????????

        1. Andrew avatar
          Andrew

Karim El Ahmadi also returns in midfield, with Marc Albrighton missing out.

All the official Villa facebook page said. Can’t find anything else.

  11. Badger123 avatar
    Badger123

I really can’t call this one, as anything between a sneaky 1-0 to us to a 9-0 spanking is possible, imo.
I’m not sure I agree that the pressure being off us will make much difference, as we’ve lacked vibrancy and urgency for months.

I think it’s more about how relaxed Citeh are and which bloody Villa turn up, myself.

I just look at Citeh’s midfield and feel a bit worried, but we were lucky against them before, so you never know.
And then I think of our defence πŸ™

If I have to stick my neck out, I’ll go for 1-3.

As for wanting the team to get beat, I can’t subscribe to that in any way.
But we are definitely poor and need major change.
I doubt today’s result will make any difference in that respect.

  12. Andrew avatar
    Andrew

I don’t think we have a chance. It’s clear a counter attacking team, but it’s Weimann and Bowery up front. We have no choice but to hope Weimann finishes every shot he has, which will be like 2.

  13. Badger123 avatar
    Badger123

    No Albrighton?????
Fucks sake, he’d better be injured, but I’ll bet he’s not.

Give me a decent game to watch and I’ll be reasonably happy.

If we can’t even manage that when the pressure’s off, it’ll be more ammo against Lambert.

And stop fucking around going backwards to Guzan!

    1. City pressing hard, almost got one in, looked offside to me.we’re not creating yet, gaps now and again in middle of park. Still early days, shit they almost scored city.

  14. Andrew avatar
    Andrew

So much for giving it a go. Our supposed wingbacks are consistently as far back as the 3 CB’s.

  15. Badger123 avatar
    Badger123

    Is it a 3-5-2?
    My arse is it.

If we keep letting these come at us, we’ll be murdered.
Have some bollox Lambert and let’s get murdered going for it.

    Utter shit, up to now.

    1. Straight 5 across the back, no chance of us attacking.

      1. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
        OohAhPaulMcGrath

Wouldn’t surprise me if we won 1.0. If we take the lead I can’t see city getting bk into it tbh

  16. Andrew avatar
    Andrew

Wow, a good move. Like, quite good. Not a great cross and Bowery wasn’t scoring. But finally, a good move.

  17. Brilliant move from Villa, almost got through, Bowery just miss kicked at the death.Sunderland 2 up

  18. Its strange i have said earlier i hoped villa lost so not to paper over the cracks. But i am getting a weird pleasure out of watching us frustrate them if this finishes 0-0 it would be quite funny

    1. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
      OohAhPaulMcGrath

Me too. Can see this being a 0.0 can’t see city scoring if they stay out till tomorrow morning. They are missing aguero big time

      1. You were saying ooha????

  19. Vllaar your brilliant saved the moment , 40 minutes still nil nil.

  20. Andrew avatar
    Andrew

Lol… It’s fascinating how they only care about going against Bertrand. Clark’s been a beast, but they don’t even care about Lowton.

  21. Badger123 avatar
    Badger123

Bloody hell, we actually have a plan that I can understand.
No way is this down to Lambert, imo.

    1. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
      OohAhPaulMcGrath

Course it is same plan we had at vp. Looks like 0.0 can’t see city scoring in a million years. They are shite without negredo

      1. Andrew avatar
        Andrew

Yeah but we’re doing it so much better than usual. It might be Lambert’s plan but Cowans and Given are giving these players some kind of motivation.

Dzeko’s been given the go ahead for a while now ahead of Negredo and taken it. They’re far from shite without him.

        1. Andrew avatar
          Andrew

They 100% miss Aguero. Dzeko plays into our hands as he doesn’t have the speed nor Aguero’s technical ability to keep hold, and move with it, twist and turn the defenders.

    2. This vendetta against Lambert is getting a bit boring now, not to mention childish. This game would have been tailor made for Gabby. Hope young Jack comes on second half!
      TPTP

      1. Not to sure if that was down to the substitute as he didn’t track back did Baccuna. Got to say good defending up till then.

This is the reason lambert should go. Losing 1 nil with noyhing to play for yet playing with a flat back 6. Its disgraceful

So…..When we beat Hull and played well it was “all down to Cowan’s”

Now we are losing to the league leaders….. “Its all Lambert and hes got to go”

You lot are seriously messed up.

    1. Helenius…you have hit the nail on the head there mate…..everything is Lamberts fault. Kids in playgrounds springs to mind.

      1. Jimbo avatar

Are you watching a different team, lambert and his team, his signings, his tactics and his dour personality have broken no positive records since he took over. All negatives, it’s not worth watching, it’s as boring as he is. Set up to loose this game it was just when, if the shackles are off why not play Robinson from the start, he looked lively when he came on, first thing he does is bring on bacuna, what a nob jockey!

        1. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
          OohAhPaulMcGrath

He just went for damage limitation tonight and still lost 4.0 says it all. Wot the fuck was vlaar doing for first goal djecko standing right next to him and only city player in box and still couldn’t spot him. Back to how he was last season total shite

    2. Were you at the Hull game we did not play well we were average at best
