Luton-Villa; we should go for it.

I’ve seen certain views that suggest that the last thing we want is cup runs.
I quite simply think that’s a terrible opinion and my attitude is that you should play every single game with a view to winning. The whole idea of the game is to score more goals than the opposition and if you lose that aim, you might as well not bother; it’s as simple as that.

Yes, I can see the argument that you lose some with the aim of winning the bigger prize, but that’s not what it’s about at all, for me.

So it’s really disappointing to have read that we might actually make 11 changes for this game!
That’s crazy, as we have players who can’t be fully up to speed this early in the season, surely?

I believe we need to play what RDM considers our best side and get them out there, winning. Which is what we should do, if you look at it on average.
Luton, at the end of the day, play in League 2 (4th division in old money) and even though they’ve had a good start after a 3-0 win against Plymouth, we should have plenty in hand to beat them.
Of course, we’ve lost the odd league cup game recently against supposedly inferior opposition, which just shows how you can seriously slip up at times, but we need to start demonstrating that we can take out what on average are lesser teams, if we’re to show signs that we’re moving forward.

The likes of Man U and Arsenal etc can ignore/take the proverbial out of this competition if they want, but I hold them in a lower regard because of it.
At the end of the day, it’s still silverware.

Play our best side and look to saving/resting players after they’ve actually done something, in my opinion.

We’ll stuff Luton, if we have the right mindset, with the right side.
But the second string will probably struggle.

I really hope RDM takes this seriously.

    1. We didn’t need this game to confirm how shit the players are. Typical money grabbing chairman hoping they would play well so he wouldn’t have to spend more money. Anyone with half a brain could tell RDM and Dr X these players are nowhere near good enough. Why are we flogging a dead horse

      1. New owner, new staff, new league – Xia and RDM needed to see it first before pulling the trigger. Now no one can blame them for culling the squad. Most players were given a second chance and most came up short. I look forward to a busy few weeks.

  1. New dilusional owner ,new season new manager same old sshhhite embarrasing the fans week in week out fight like lions my arse.

  2. The moment I saw Micah Richards in the starting 11, I begrudgingly put a bet on Luton. That says it all.
The man is the defensive version of Gabby, the moment he lost his yard of pace, he became utterly pointless and useless at any level as he has no footballing brain (or indeed any brain at all)

  3. hard to believe 6 years ago today mon walked out ,just after finishing 6 th for 3rd season running lost cup final thank the fat ref, to what we are watching
    mutton for cullear
    okore for collins
    richards for dunne
    bacuna for young
    wastwood for milner
    rudi for carew
    gabby for flabby

  4. Best quote of the night on tralksport…
Brian Little standing there arms folded staring into the abyss, the abyss that is Aston Villa.

    1. little has seen them and know they are crap so get his arms unfolded and get new players in

  5. Dr Tony just tweeted “some players not worth being given chance” – now get rid of them and buy in new players who know what it is like to win a game and truly care for the shirt they put onto thier back.

  6. I’m concerned Di Matteo is too soft and is pandering to the players again… the same issue we had under Garde.
Having said that playing Richards at CB and as captain in my opinion should be an automatic sackable offence. He should have been the first out the door with Lescott. It shouldn’t have mattered how much we needed to pay them off, Dr Tony should have just done what was necessary to remove the poison from the squad. That is worth more value than any one signing iMO

    1. To be fair Garde was sold a broken promise and never had the support of the board or owner. The winter transfer window is proof and the players took advantage of it.

    2. Di matteo was a push over at Chelsea the players run the team he was there as a spare part. I said ages ago we should of gone for Pearson another cock up

  7. Ahahahahaha ahahahahaha ahahahahaha ahahahahaha

Still confident? Perhaps we still need time to gel!!!

Until 90% of these clowns get their marching orders we are going to continue to rot.

I’m under the impression some players had tonight to prove they were good enough and failed. Fingers crossed we can say goodbye to them very soon.

  8. I really believe Dr Tony will ensure the end of Villa careers for a number of players. I hope this includes:

    Goalkeepers:
    Bunn

    Defenders:
    Hutton
    Cisskho
    Bennett (might already be gone)
    Lesscott
    Ricahards

    Midfield:
    Westwood
Gardner (very disappointed with his two efforts this year)
    Veretout
    Bacuna

    Forwards:
    Gabby
Ayew – sulks and too hot headed
    Kozak
    Gestede

    Reily can also do one!
Amavi needs to learn to defend
Okore – if a club offer decent amount sell

Looks like we are short of team. Come on Dr Tony I am impressed by bid for Diawara. It looks like the check book is required of we will flounder this season.

    1. No chance we get rid of all of them. Out of those we should be keeping Bacuna, Westwood and Ayew. Bacuna actually looked good the first game and Westwood’s still decent enough for now. Ayew no matter how hot headed and “sulky”, is still our best player. When you have no help, you’d complain too. Clearly the squad needs to change but this would never happen in 1 window.

      1. You must be kidding? Absolute piffle.

Bacuna was so disrespectful to Aston Villa last season that even if he suddenly became a good player overnight, he should still be shown the door, which incidentally isn’t a dilemma because he is complete and utter garbage. Get some pride man, why would you want to keep a player that thinks so little of the club?

We seem to be watching different matches every time because Bacuna was poor on Saturday, in fact, the last good game he had for us was against Leicester in the cup a couple of years ago, his ego does not match his talent.

        1. What did Bacuna do? Other then answer the question if he’d like to move back home. Which he said yes, he’d like to move to Ajax or PSV. And we did watch a different game. I saw the one on Sunday. Had a mediocre first half that he made up for in the second. I have pride mate. Probably too much if you ask some on here. I just don’t make decisions on how I think of players personally.

      2. Oh ###off will you, you really do chat some absolute bubbles.
How Jestwood is even a professional football player is beyond me. Bacuna is well, SHITE and Ayew ain’t m such better, played for twenty minutes last night then went AWOL for the rest of the evening and is exactly the type of dig time Charlie we don’t need.

        1. Nice 12 year old rage quit when you lose at your favorite game that you suck at comment.

Bacuna isn’t shite. He’s actually a decent player. Westwood was awful Sunday but we aren’t getting a new midfield and aren’t getting rid of everyone. So why should we look to get rid of him then.

Ayee is the furthest thing from shite. A team around him and he’ll be golden.

    2. Okore is an accident waiting to happen imo
Get rid and replace, after tonight it has shown we need so many more in than first thought.
I just hope RDM see this and agrees!! Can’t believe how we lost again tonight 6 fucking months now without a win.. The Luton player said after the game all there manager said to them was they need to get a goal and villa will basically crumble and oh hang on a minute…. They was right!!!!!!!!

      1. IV said that for ages. Look at any game last season and for first 15-20 mins or so we don’t look bad. Then opposition score out of the blue and whole team crumbles

      2. Problem with getting rid of him is depth that we don’t have if we get rid of Lescott too. Center back is a spot we never can keep players fit. Sadly he hasn’t gotten over that long term injury he had.

  9. If RDM don’t start getting results I can see him gone pretty soon Dr x won’t put up with it a high turnaround of managers I forsee.

  10. very disappointing performance, last night game shows where we are. its not where we would like or hoped. villa in my opinion have progressed nowhere. this management team seemed to achieved nothing.damning assessment and its very worrying.luton are a solid team, but nothing special and no disrespect meant. they deserved the win for totally dominating the game, after the first 30mins. they wrestled the control and they looked the better side for the rest of the game.

life is too short to care or talk about the wrongs, so many things went wrong. if i was the manager. i would start with basics. defending richards second half and okore all game as central defenders. central defenders need to be able to read the game. both can not manage this simple but basic requirement, this means both chase the game, they leave their post chasing players and ball pressing the game and leaving a massive hole for the opposition to exploit. if that was all lol they can’t pass ball tackle or clear the ball. beats me how okore manages to dress himself

villa were the better team first 30 minutes, but lost control this is alarming. this means we haven’t progressed at all. we are a team of individuals 11 egos out for themselves. RDM has won things player and manager, he has to realize the problem. i am not even touching the other problems we have.

ayew, gestede richard, okore i think these players are not villa players. they offer nothing for the team basics. they are maverick wannabes, i would have sold them the first offer. we are not a premiership team and need 11 players working hard for the team. we can’t afford ego players playing for themselves.

scary future and optimism for the season has gone, if we lose elphick for the season through injury, we will be relegated again.

  11. I’m amazed how just one result can change someones optimism well that’s happened to me alarm bells have now began to ring.next 2 games for me if we get nothing I’ll be straight on RDMs back & want a change.we just simply aren’t good enough

  12. I played full back in a crap league.
    But the basics:
    1 mark your man
    2 show him wide
3 do not (at all costs) let him cross
4 if you go forward make sure a midfielder covers your position
5 if the play is on the opposite flank drift across so the centre backs can cover the other full back.
6 More often than not you are facing the ball so win your headers.
7 safety first – if in doubt kick it out.

YOU ARE A DEFENDER – DEFEND

    THE BASICS ???????

Hutton and Amavi do not do any of these which puts pressure on everyone else.
I know we want Amavi to come good and he does look good going forward but just look at the goals we have conceded with him in the team.

    1. I don’t think we have a choice but to go back to basics and get some new recruits in….now
      Before its to late!!!

      1. He would be perfect there to. We all know what his strengths & weaknesses are so that would work well, good shout oohah

  13. What a shower of sh1t, the second half was the best example of what is wrong with football – They could not give a toss as their wages are still paid, no desire to win, no passion.. Ugh they make me want to be violently sick.

On The positive side though, our owner was there to realise what a bunch of absolute crap he has purchased, so he may now wake up and smell the coffee, rather than thinking promotion is guaranteed….. As I think his priority on that performance is NOT being relegated !
