Loads of news; where to start?

It’s been a busy day on the news front.

What do I know from the little I’ve had chance to read?

Bent’s a gonner and won’t be offered a new contract (contrary to reports that said he would).
How much did him getting cosy to a certain player’s missus affect that decision, I wonder?
I still think he’d have been an option if we really wanted one, but no doubt the required wages are way out of our league, for what would frankly be a back-up striker.

Enda Stevens is also a gonner and about time. He was never going to be good enough and I was amazed that someone commented that there might still be a chance for him. Medicocrity at it’s highest, in my opinion.
That said, Good luck and I hope he gets a decent contract elsewhere.

Vlaar has been offered a contract.
I’ve previously asserted that it was offered a good while back, on the same money that he is currently on (early £20s K a week, which came from a very trusted source) and he’s keeping his options open, which is fair enough.
Take it or leave it Ron.
Personally it wouldn’t bother me if he left it and so much for Man Utd and Southampton being in for him.

A boat load of the academy kids are gone too, the only one I’ve heard of being Graham Burke.
It would seem someone has come in, had a good look at what we have and decided it’s a load of rubbish. Or at least not as good as is made out.
Just like some of us have been saying for a while.
I’d be interested to know who has actually made that decision though and hope it’s not just cost-cutting.

We might have a new buyer in the next few weeks and it’s not the consortium previously mentioned.
Yawn.
Just get out Randy and sell the club to someone who will invest, before the window shuts, is my call.

Why do I get the feeling that the speculation of a sale is just that: speculation?
What price the result is “we tried to sell, but couldn’t do the deal” or some other BS?
Which means we’re still in limbo, with an owner who won’t put any money in, the usual £15 million apart?

I reckon that’s enough to be debating for now.

The fact that Lerner has allegedly given exclusivity to a bidder is interesting and perhaps an indication that things are progressing further than previously. Let’s hope it gets done soon while we have time to do something of note in the transfer window of there is to be investment.

I just posted this on the last thread but Vlaar had apparently said that he can play at a higher level and wants to maximise his career – please just do one Ron.

The clear out of the dead wood needs to continue – Weimann, Agbonlahor etc….. The players that have been consistently hanging around our relegation battles.

The club is supposedly in talks with a right back and centre back, also.

And so it begins again. It’s like the Ellis / Lerner change of ownership all over again. Can someone wake the sleeping giant that is Aston Villa ? Bloody hope so.

Just hope Fox is kept on board for some continuity. I do believe he was key to us staying up. I believe he wanted rid of Lambert sooner than when he eventually did bite the bullet.

I really hope we sign Trippier. We never had a chance with Ings, as on a free transfer, we just cant compete. Trippier at 3.5m (if that is true) would be a bargain.

Im glad we didnt consider giving Bent a new contract, and if the Weimann to Derby rumours are true, i think that might be good for everyone. Shame he never really kicked on, but i think he might do well there…and we need the money!

Just a thought. IF someone has been granted exclusivity, then an offer has been made and accepted, subject to a calculation of the exact number and proper due diligence. The interesting bit for me is that it will probably mean that Benteke can’t be sold. There will be restrictions on the sale of any asset over a certain value, as this materially changes the deal. That means that he either won’t be sold before the deal goes through, or if he does it will be because the buyer OK’s it.
