You capture my feelings exactly. It is a rarity that a team just gives up and stops trying. Last year QPR were a nailed on relegation outfit from the opening day but they still summoned some fight, even though their defence was hopeless. So I too have given up caring about this particular Villa team, I honestly hope to see few of them in a Villa shirt next season.

I just wonder if Villa might have changed the badge to Warwickshire’s. Bare and Ragged Staff seems an apt description.

Not quite off topic I listed in order of ability (IMPO) the goalkeepers of the Prem before the season started

    De Gea
    Schmeichel
    Cech
    Hart
    Courtois
    LLoris
    Forster
    Adrian
    Butland
    Robles
    Foster
    Mignolet
    Gomes
    Fabianski
    Mamone
    Krul
    Hennessey
    Boruc
    Ruddy
    Guzan

Robles and Mamone were a bit of a guess, and though one can expect the stand-in to be worse I did not know how much worse than Butland and Krul they would be. The prediction is that next season Bournemouth, Palace and whoever survives the drop had better get a new keeper or they will be in trouble. At the other end I think Courtois has proved himself worse and Lloris better than they were last year. Otherwise they played as expected.

The Old Villa board told us about a five year plan ! Pity they didn’t tell us at the outset that the plan was to bring the club to its knees and humiliate the fans be assembling the worst team in premier league history. One thing that ALL fans from every club from top to bottom should have is optimism. For teams at the top the optimism is that this might be year to win league, mid table teams thinking that they may win a cup or get European football. Teams at the bottom have optimism that their team might just scape over the line. This optimism exists in the premier league for 19 Teams out of 20. Our optimism died when we bought no one in January and the board accepted relegation. We just have to get that optimism back for next season and that will all depend on the actions of the new board over the next 2 months. Over to you then. Fuck the players. Even if this team managed a win at old Trafford with Gabby scoring a hat trick it would not change my option of them. They are broken players and most need shipped out.

Henry Winter of the Times asks –

‘Who on earth are #avfc fans going to vote for as their Player of the Year? Unless they stage a protest vote and go for a third-choice gk etc’

    Who gets your vote?

Amavi gets my vote closely followed by ayew the rest would get a vote of no confidence.

Yes would go along with either Amavi or Ayew, at least they tried a bit.

This question makes you think though…

…makes you think what a load of crap we’ve got!

Just read a suggestion on the BBC Sport site from one Villa fan –

      Marc Albrighton

Think he might get my vote too 🙂

The end of season party/player of the year award(s) should be postponed as a mark of respect for the fans who have attended this season. Instead all first team players should publicly apologize to the fans who have attended games this season.

Then the total cost of the event should be matched by each individual player and the total sum raised given to Acorns.

Never in a million years does this team deserve an end of season awards ceremony. That would be a massive insult to the supporters.

The writing was on the wall way back in November. It’s been a shitfest for Villa fans.
Comical to see Keown say us Villa fans are a tough audience. We don’t expect much, just a bit of effort, respect and a modicum of talent. This is coming from the man who’s fans wave ‘Wenger out’ banners after all he’s done for them…a bit rich methinks.

Please spare a thought for them poor sods that are being told they don’t have a Job, all this from a yank sitting on his arse in yankie land. If they have a payer of the year (player) then the first person through the gates gets it, we don’t have any player given that , why? Its in the season that Villa was destroyed by a fool of a Yank and I would think nobody wants to remember that.

From the Brum Mail. U21’s r the one bright spot in the darkness of VP. I really hope we keep Adama and Grealish for next season. The pair starting regularly with Gestede in the centre could wreak all sorts of havoc – and it means we only have to find another 8 players! (OK if we keep Ayew and Amavi that reduces it to 6 – maybe it’s not quite so bad!) – on second thoughts that’s a whole new mid field and defence 🙂

What a mess. What a sorry pathetic mess.
If i don’t perform my job and duties well then I am taken into a disaplinary etc etc we all know how it goes with warnings and final written warnings.
These guys have been dragging there heels around since before sherwood left.
Why are they not pulled into offices and given there warnings?
Do players really hold all the cards these days? Is it in thier contract they cannot ever be sacked or suspended pay?
These guys sign a contract at villa, they first turn up saying how delighted they are and how they are ready to give everything for us and then what? Lose a couple of games and start throughing their hands in the air.
It’s not just us it’s Most clubs.
Managers have failed us, they failed to do their job and galvanise players, install passion and pride for playing in claret and blue.
These so called premier league players should be flying the villa flag and be fuelled with adrenalin every single time they step onto the pitch Infront of their thousands of loving fans.
We should be like F&&&Ing family.
I hope Micah Richards waves his hands up and down on the traing ground asking where the passion is…….
They could of had it all at villa but they chose to sulk and give up.
Pathetic bunch of players and worst of all they are a pathetic group of MEN!!!
Good day to the lot of you!

Cowards of the first order ,nobody gives up like they did, I hope their reward is finger pointing all their playing days as being Shiite in the game. Load of shite.

Call me daft but are these new board members getting paid a wage? If so then why are we flooding the board with new recruits and yet find ourselves making up to 100 people redundant.

Surely what these board members earn, based on the figure that Fox earned last year (1.5 million) is more than what 100 staff would earn! I mean tea ladies, club shop staff, food sellers, programme sellers and even stewards wouldn’t be on much more than the minimum wage, would they?

Given that a majority of these staff are probably only employed on a part time basis it doesn’t make sense, to me anyway, how the club can justify paying an increased number of new board members a wage, that is no doubt considerably higher than what the minimum wage is, whilst making redundancies elsewhere.

I’m sure there is a simple explanation.

Stubs, here’s one for you, due to the cutbacks they are giving out yellow coats to the first 50 who come, and 50 stewards are to receive dismissal notice, Lerner estimates a saving of £5,000 a season. Problem is will 50 go to a game.?

BTW Steve Sidwell just scored the winner for Brighton.

Some here saying that they didn’t want Hughton but I dare say he won’t want us as he might be Premier League next season anyway at this rate.

Stubbs – to be fair the current board are not responsible for the mess we are in and have to deal with what they find. Whether we like it or not someone has to take responsibility for running the club and be paid – the last board were overpaid and failed and as a result ordinary people suffer. Fox and Almstadt have gone and I hope that Riley and the CCO (whose name I can’t spell) soon follow.

I’m not defending the injustice of people losing their jobs through incompetence, merely stating the facts. I know how they feel as I lost my job (at least partly) because those above me didn’t do theirs.

I do agree though that it’s the players that will largely ‘get away with it’ which is surely unjust.

Ultimately however, Lerner has to take the major portion of the blame for a combination of poor judgement and bad investment decisions.
