Lerner Speaks At Last-But Not What We Want To Hear!

Well according to the evening mail Lerner has come out fighting in support of Lambert, Cowan’s and Given http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-randy-lerner-hails-6997764?

Only when things get this bad with so much discontent from supporters can Lerner be bothered as he is worried about potential falling ST sales and a torrent of deserved abuse towards Lambert and himself on Saturday.

The bottom line of this statement is Lambert is here to stay as Lerner says that Lambert and Falkner have seen ‘total loyalty and commitment to Aston Villa’. He also states that Cowan’s is a Villa man through and through and has stepped up.

In other words he is saying that we are all stupid enough to accept this cabinet reshuffle simply because we all love Cowan’s.
Im sorry Randy this so-called half way house action will fail miserably it is too little too late! The vast majority of fans want lambert out now regardless and they also want you to go too.

You have basically kept the same status quo and there is nothing in your statement about where the club is going or if there staying up is still your ambition.

Lerner out, Lambert out.

Average weekly wage £39k; 7th highest in the PL. Hardly the peanuts we are told that Randy is forcing Lambert to operate with. Reality is that we are still paying for years of poor judgement and decision making in terms of players signed since the start of the O’Neill era.
A handful of major successes, but far to many overpriced transfer fees, inflated wages, little sell on value and not deployed properly on the pitch – countless players not played, played out of position, drifted then left the club for nothing. Manager, owner and financial advisors all to blame.
Nobody could expect to carry on like that unless we wanted to be a Leeds – but the fans have every right to expect better from a squad costing £50M a year in wages.

“Manager, owner and financial advisors all to blame” – spot on: let’s face it, over the last seven or eight years Lerner and his people have made Deadly look like the ultimate football pro!

        Spot on!

But your previous comment about less than inspirational managers implies you think we could go for a top man straight away. Not so. This isn’t Snakes & Ladders with a ladder from the basement to third place. There is no way the present Villa with its cost-cutting owner, disaffected fans and mainly basement EPL playing staff would attract a manager capable of taking the club up to Champions league status. So we need to start with a manager who can steer the club clear of relegation, and hopefully produce a few nuggets of value from our juniors or his transfer dealings. Then we can replace him with a visionary tactician, the sort of man who can attract a mega star to buy into the idea of an improving club with an already sound playing staff. If we then get a UEFA cup place the push for the Champions league is on. Birmingham is capable of sustaining such a team.

A complete twat with a bottomless pot could buy his way to near the top, like Man C, Chelsea or PSG. Unfortunately there does not appear to be one on Villa’s horizon. Though if ManC can find one – given where they started – anything is possible.

Absolute disgrace from Lerner. Lamberk is an utter joke and will cling to the job (and his payout). Basically we are screwed until there is a takeover.
My advice is don’t waste your hard earned money and valuable time watching this farce until Lerner and Lamberk are history. The club is in ruins. Don’t care whether we stay up or go down any more, just want the morons running the club OUT.

One thing I know is that Matt Kendrick was very scathing of Lambert and Lerner on Birmingham mail website today. Usually he doesn’t want to upset them. To me that is a sign he thinks he doesn have to worry about upsetting them. I.e Lerner may be on his way out and mayb even Lerner!

That’s a realistic assessment OLL. What the fans might ideally want – motivated, hugely wealthy owner who loves the club and will invest huge sums to get us Champs League etc is just not going to happen.

Again, I do not believe a takeover us imminent. It’s just wishful thinking.

So, if that turns out to be correct Lerner will remain the owner whether fans are in favour or not. Is he going to invest hugely to improve playing matters? New manager, back room staff, revamped squad? Maybe £50-80m? Err….no.

He will probably stick with Lambert and give him a reasonable sum to try and improve things. Not what everybody wants but that’s what I think will happen.

Pressure him into selling? Unless someone makes a decent offer why on earth would he? He doesn’t turn up to games so doesn’t suffer any abuse unless he looks at the internet. I guess with all that wealth he can find other entertainments.

I get the frustration but don’t waste your breath demanding things that you can’t get and are unlikely to happen. Or maybe just do it if it helps vent the obvious anger.

By all means don’t buy tickets or merchandise. I don’t. I need something positive to get me back onside. I can’t see it at the moment but it will come.

Lerner Out! Lambert Out! Faulkner Out!

Fans continuing to support these idiots are supporting a club that has abandoned all ambition. May as well turn Villa Park into a museum, a place of great history but deadly silent.

I thought sport was about competing and being the best you can be, even if you can’t always win. How many more years of utter incompetence are you willing to put with? Stop listening to the club’s insulting PR!

While I never wanted Lambert and want him to go still, despite recent claims by people claiming Lambert didn’t do most of the training, he wanted them suspended, the players the first training session after they were suspended Lambert was cheered onto the training ground, it amazes me people are actually trying to claim what others are supporting. “Oh you’re supporting mediocrity, oh you’re supporting shit, oh you’re a sheep, oh blah blah blah”. I guess having a differing opinion and supporting someone means they support them for the reasons you claim they support the team for.

Source one has stated that it’s “imminent”.
Source two has stated that it’s “signed, sealed & awaiting delivery”

These sources have been reliable in the past and, as such, I’ve no reason to doubt them.

That’s been up for a week so how long is imminent? And to be honest is a little it’s short on substance.

Jesus Christ reading some of the comments on here we really do have some fans suffering from delusions of grandeur with regards to AVFC and our present plight.
The same old same old pro Lambert/Lerner arguments as the club goes into meltdown, it’s like watching an old librarian totally wrapped up in his own little world busily putting his books in order, oblivious to the alarm bells, smoke fire and chaos as the library burns down around him.
Mention Tony Pullis and that’s it, toys, dolls, dummies and bottles come flying out of prams, complete and utter footballing snobbery!
Well breaking new peps working on budget you name me a better one? You won’t get much better, the guy deserves manager of the season for what he’s achieved at Palace and the legacy he left at Stoke is much under estimated.
Would I have Pullis down at VP? In heartbeat given our present financial restraints and given his track record, at least VP would be a fortress again.
As OLL says get the stability and move on from there.
Sorry but you can’t agree with Lerner’s austerity measures and then expect to watch Barcelona type football, you just can’t have it all.

Bill anyone’s better than Lambert given his track record up to date, but your right Pullis has pulled a miracle off with Palace, and Lambert with all records broken now at Villa by his management so called skills and friends and relatives, and by the grace of god might stay up. What a cock up at my club.

Lambert had worked minor miracles with Colchester and Norwich before he came here.

    Just saying.

But not in the EPL Vaze.
We aint some back water yokel club from the East Coast or some tiny insignificant Essex outfit we are AVFC and he (Lambert) imo is way way out of his depth at Villa, the clubs just too big for him.
I honestly believe that even without the financial restraints imposed by RL I believe he’d have struggled.

Agreed, and only time will tell.

Not sure I’d want Pulis though, I covered the Stoke area for a while through work and there are still supporters there that were chuffed he went despite all that he did for them.

We are in a pickle though, no doubt.

Spurs was supposed to be an end of season jolly, i just hope we’re not sweating on other results for the afternoon.

Right or Wrong? What do YOU think?
