So Leicester have bulleted come to a mutual agreement with Brendan Rodgers, that basically sees him gone.
If he was still there, I’d have predicted a pretty straightforward win for us.
I still lean that way,but I’ve read a comment on here that suggests that the players might not have been happy with him and could bounce now that he’s gone.
I have to say, I never saw that in the way they played. I just saw a manger that had basically run out of steam. It was something I’d noticed about him at Liverpool and Celtic, but I don’t recall there being any inference that he’d lost the dressing room?
Whatever, I rate him as a manager and think he’ll do okay at his next club.
Squad news is that Boubacar Kamara may be available after looking doubtful when he came off against Chelsea. His being hooked would seem to have been mostly precautionary.
Matty Cash, Jed Steer and Philippe Coutinho are all still out.
Leicester City defenders Dennis Praet and Jonny Evans could both return after missing the defeat at Crystal Palace due to injury.
Youri Tielemans, James Justin and Ryan Bertrand are still out.
I can’t say I’ve seen much of Leicester lately, although I did watch them a few times earlier in the season.
They don’t strike me as a team that achieve much and while I don’t like to get above myself having got (I think?) 3 predictions on the trot correct, I’m going for another away win, which would be pretty impressive.
I’d like to think we could get a few goals to improve our minus 2 status, but suspect I’m really pushing my luck there.
I’ll go for a 2-1 win, because we’re on a roll.
I have to throw in the usual “you watch me get it totally wrong, because it’s what the Villa do” comment, but somehow, I don’t think it will apply tomorrow.
A reasonably confident 2-1 win then, although I’d reluctantly take a draw, as much as it might annoy me.
Onwards and upwards with “Unai the great”, is what I say 🙂

The only worry is whether Young can deal with Barnes. Maddison too had Kamara with his shorts back to front at VP so hopefully lessons will have be learned.
Defensively they are poor and I think Watkins can extend his consecutive away goals.
3 points could move us up a couple of places and I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t win. If we score first and their fans get twitchy then I fancy another 0-2!
See, that’s the strange thing, isn’t it?
They have some great players, yet don’t achieve much.
Maybe that dislike of the manager thing is true?
In which case, things might be tougher than I’m expecting.
Leicester didn’t strengthen in the summer and are vulnerable defensively but they are dangerous going forward as we saw at VP.
Had we not handed them an equaliser on a plate then I do think the outcome would have been different.
One would think Emery (and the players) learnt much from that defeat and be tactically aware this time around.
Then, of course, Leicester have just sacked their most potent weapon against Villa and Emery – Rodgers unbeaten in (something like) 14 games against us and having not lost to Emery in Europe 🙂
After beating Chelsea a loss would be to throw away the advantage gained but I’ve no doubt Leicester will see this as one to win in their relegation fight.
‘Villa haven’t won any of their last five midweek Premier League games, since a 3-0 triumph at Leeds United in March 2022’. Time to smash that stat too?
We’ll be ready for Leicester this time. If the Cherries can beat Brighton, and Chelsea and Liverpool draw (although i think a Pool win is on the cards), if we win we go 6th!!!!! How utterly mental is that?
Maddison is always a handful so maybe an early ‘reducer’ is needed!!!! Without and yellow cards obviously. 11hrs4
45minutes until KO!!! Whooo!!!
They haven’t looked like winning them either Bum Bum. It is as if the players wrote off midweeks, especially away. The shambles at Fulham still haunts me. Sawiris may still be in England so he may show up tonight and he won’t expect to see a floodlit fiasco.
Vardy starts tonight. I’ve got a feeling we’re going to be disappointed come 10pm. Not necessarily because of Vardy, although he’s not scored for a while so he’s due one, but because of the law of averages. The form guide suggests they’re due a green tick and we’re due a red cross. Not to mention that I expect Villa to beat Forest at home, so three wins in a week is a but too much to ask. They’re attack can be a real handful. I’ve just read Chelsea had 27 shots on Saturday; you can’t keep doing that and expect to keep clean sheets. Sorry to be negative!
Sorry about the typos! Couldn’t be arsed to proofread!
Yep, the shots against was nuts.
As for proof reading, tell me about it lol.
Martinez, A.Young, Konsa, Mings, Alex Moreno, Bailey, McGinn, Douglas Luiz, J.Ramsey, Watkins, Buendia.
Subs: Sinisalo, Olsen, Revan, Chambers, Carlos, Digne, Dendoncker, Traore, Duran.
Of those 27 for Chelsea only 8 were on target don’t forget…
Damn. Long way to go…
Would be jumping through hoops if we win but I’m going 2-1 defeat as when we get a bit of hope we always blow it would luv to ear my hat
I’m not making any predictions for tonight. I’m just going with the flow although everyone has us down to lose, if only for the above mentioned law of averages…
Olllllliiieeeeeeee!!!!!!!
Yes Barns got the speed on Young need to sort that out second half. We must move that ball Quicker from defence, I’m seeing us getting caught to many times .
I was worried about Barnes v Young and unfortunately it’s happened.
Can anyone tell me why Bailey is playing? Poor Ashley won’t get any help from him. Put Chambers on and switch McGinn over would make sense.
I’ve long been saying the same. I think he’s terrible. He loses possession and trips over himself constantly; regularly doesn’t look for the pass. He’s like a poor man’s Raheem Sterling.
Totally agree, Texas. I thought he was supposed to have electrifying pace – I can’t recall ever seeing it. Maybe it was so fast, I missed it…
I can’t really remember Bailey making many defensive contributions.
A slight shuffle of the pack at half time????
Has he made any attacking contributions?
Bailey is getting slaughtered on Twitter. I don’t think even Unai will be able to coach any teamwork or effort into him. It’s probably the Jamaican laid back thing!
Maybe put Carlos on for Young who must be knackered after Saturday, and frankly anyone on for Bailey!
Can Moreno switch flanks and put Digne on? Carlos way too rusty for this game!
Harvey Barnes an ideal upgrade on Bailey this summer? 10 goals already this season in a poor team is impressive for a winger. It’ll take Bailey about 8 seasons to score 10 goals!
Yeeeaaasssss
It’s funny, we don’t really have anyone to bring on do we? We need to add strength in depth in the summer. A couple of injuries and we’d be buggered.
Yeh, really missing Cash now, and he was playing so well.
Got to comment on Souttar’s barnet…
Looks like a short back and sides his mom’s done for him 🤣😂
Have to say, I’ll be delighted with a draw tonight and a win on Saturday. 7 points in a week is a great effort! Long way to go though…
Hilarious Chelsea handball!!!
Down to 10 – let’s get some subs on and f*** em up!
Probably be difficult to break down, 10 men behind the ball.
Get in
Mate, I’ve been wrong about a lot of things but I’ve always said Bert is class! As for Unai, any takers on ‘The Unai Emery Stand’? 😉
I thought he looked off the pace since coming back but what a finish.
I love you really Ron 😁
Aww shuks 😂
24th October
Saint Emery’s Day.
Very frustrating as my firestick has decided to give up the ghost – can’t make it connect.
When your luck’s in 😁
Hitch, if you are watching on Firestick using the Aston Villa channel and it goes to blue X, try the channel for the other team. My Firestick Villa feed went to X but the Leicester channel still worked.
Hitch, I hope ‘firestick’ isn’t a euphemism for something else! 😂
Hitch turn it off and your tinternet, turn back on reconnect.
Yes!!!!!!!
7th lads, who’d have thought it ?😁
That Ollie red was a releif!!!! Ollie back on the pitch. No penalty.
Er – can someone explain to a poor ‘blind’ Villa supporter what happened – thank you.
They scored but in doing so clattered Watkins out the way
Disallowed VAR
We actually got the tub of the green with VAR. Ollie good defence and not sent off
Wow!
Wow!
Wow!
7th!!!!!! I’ll take that! 6 wins in 8!!!
Bagder called it! What a win, again! WOW. The likes of Spurs, United and Newcastle may soon be shitting themselves…
Ollie was deemed to have fouled a Leicester player and then sent off. Penalty awarded. VAR checked and it was Ollie who was fouled. No penalty. Ollie back on the pitch!!!!!
Thanks Bum Bum – phew!
Great win – onwards and upwards.
Tomorrow I have to try and sort out my firestick. BT tried (and failed) to install fibre this week and my internet was down for a couple of hours. Hoping that’s what’s caused the problem but not sure why!
Another Firestick fault which appears after 2 hours on requires you to pull the power feed out of the Firestick leave it 30 seconds and reconnect. The Firestick seems to build up static.
Tried that OLL but thanks for the heads up – also restarted the fire stick.
I hope it’s a problem with the app so will have a go at that tomorrow.
That wasn’t good for my heart rate. If only the season had started with Emery in charge. Even the VAR decisions are starting to go our way 🙂
Brighton at home on the last day is starting to look like a monster of a match!
