I think pretty much everyone knows Oohaah’s stance when it comes to the Villa hierarchy.
He consistently wants them all out and has done for a long time.
My stance has been somewhat different, in that the reactionary or I suppose fickle part of me has at various times called for Lerner and or Lambert to go. That’s a natural thing to me as it’s an easy way to express your extreme disappointment when we lose yet another game.
I’ve been pretty consistent in saying that Faulkner ought to go, but that has nothing to do with footballing reasons, as to me he’s just a bean counter who knows nothing about the game and probably worse, most likely doesn’t even care. It’s just a superbly paid job for him.
But I’ve never been consistent about the owner or the manager and have refused to actively engage in a persistent campaign calling for their heads. The reasons are mainly that I listen to the arguments and find myself questioning if I might be wrong. There’s also the concern that I might be out of touch with what the majority think, which is not normally a problem for me, but we like to think this site represents what the fans think and not Oohaah’s or my opinion.
I think I’m definitely right in not calling for Lerner to go, mainly because I don’t think it’s going to happen until he makes his own mind up and any protest on our part would be utterly pointless, in that he won’t go until he gets the vast majority of his money back and no-one will pay that price for the Villa.
I won’t even talk about the latest takeover rumour, save to say that in my opinion, it’s a total load of rubbish.
Lambert though, is a different kettle of fish.
He’s much more vulnerable to a campaign.
My doubts about him going though are the much discussed point about who will replace him.
We all know Lerner will just hire another donkey who is willing to do his bidding of cutting costs and trying to work with pennies.
But how long can you keep using Lambert’s replacement as an excuse for keeping him?
For me it now boils down to three games; Palace away, Swansea away and Hull at home. The other games against Man City and Spurs don’t really matter to me. We have to get at least three points in one of those games against teams around us and if we don’t that will be the point for me where I finally turn and will be convinced that Lambert quite simply has to go.
Mind you, having read around the net, it might seem I’m too late.
I read in the Mirror this morning that (I think it was Oliver Holt) Lambert shouldn’t get a new contract. Matt Kendrick has tonight come out and said the same and Ian Taylor addressed the same issue a couple of days back.
Nosing around the internet, it seems this is pretty much the consensus now and many are going further in saying that Lambert should be sacked.
I’ll keep giving him chances, even though I don’t think he’s the answer for the club. I mean, no-one wants the manager to fail do they?
But he really is in the last chance saloon.
