It’s only a quick one, but apparently after what was reported last week, where Fenerbache have supposedly made enquiries about loaning Jonathan Kodjia for next season, so it seems the player’s representative has now actually met the club to discuss a move.
If you can still stomach reading this absolute load of tosh story, it’s backed up by the “fact” that Kodjia’s agent is saying that Kodjia has a clause in his contract that says he can go on loan because we didn’t achieve promotion.
This is all a load of rubbish.
There’s no way the Villa would have allowed such a clause, unless they were so confident that we would achieve promotion at the first attempt, that they thought it was a totally laughable clause that would not have a chance of being invoked.
Oh, erm, hang on……
And that for me, is about the only reason there MIGHT be an inkling of truth in it.
But no, I totally fail to believe that that’s remotely possible.
You don’t sign a player for that sort of money and then allow such a crazy clause.
I believe this story is a total joke, but if it does turn out to be true, it would further claims that we’re willing to sign players at almost any cost.
And heads would need to roll.
In the meantime, I continue to treat early days speculation with the usual utter contempt, while totally accepting that some of us love it.
It’s only fair that I give the link, as much as I hate this sort of crap;

I suppose you have to laugh 🙁
Badger, i read that in the first 5 minutes of them reporting it, what a load of rubbish, all the media papers must be on drugs, as you was saying a few days ago Birmingham mail , star, are all in cloud cuckoo land.
It is very old but worth a re-run.
“You cannot hope to bribe or twist,
Thank God, the British Journalist.
But see what the man will do
– unbribed, There is no reason to.”
All B***ox. A release clause only covers a full sale, a loan is always entirely at the discretion of the owning club who are responsible for the player’s salary and insurance cover. The borrower pays the owner an agreed fee. No player has a right to be loaned, but they do have a right to refuse a loan.
Indeed, Bill. Pure clickbait, imo, yet some love it.
OLL, I’ve not heard that before, but how true!
Your take on the contract side of things sounds about right, thanks for the clarity.
HITC – need I say more!
Having said that what is Kodjia’s agent up to as they are usually the source of these stories – is he trying to engineer a move for Kodjia so he can line his pocket? I despise agents in football.
Don’t start me Hitch.
I’d suspect this is about drumming up possible interest, as you suggest.
And it winds me right up, as it seems agents are more powerful than managers at times.
Which is never right and stinks of kickbacks, imo.
To answer your earlier question, yes, Wolves are Chinese owned.
Agents: see what’s happened at Wolves in the last 48 hours – blatant conflict of interest but FA/EUFA/FIFA have apparently nothing to say about these parasites getting stuck even further into the rotting carcass of professional football…
Agents are wankers & this story is a load of bollox, can’t the media come up with something concrete?
?? no it’s the jackanory time of the season.
Xia responded too the question about this supposed transfer with “Really feeling tired to clear all those rumors especially still recovering from surgery.”
Think that more or less sums it up that it’s complete BS. If Fenerbahce wanted to make a large bid, then Xia might consider it. Probably double what Villa paid for him. But a loan? Laughable.
What’s going on?, we dragging our feet again, looks like it to me, Norwich gets our man 10 goal in 45 games while we just get BS promises, start showing us you aim to build a team Bruce because players going nothing coming makes a worried fan.
Mate not sure if I’d want a team of former Barnsley players, still early days.
talk of sam johnstone going on loan to watford.
so its starting to look like we need to find another keeper .
Yes agree, Damned Utd good film, some of them things that went on I knew, Revie did play a dirty game, he made players that passed a ball block a player going for a ball, he had hatchet men that took your legs, yes liked it.
Bill, I’d never put you wrong.
Glad you liked it.
As for signings, let’s see how it pans out.
So a player being signed by a former giant moving from a “Mickey Mouse” side gets to put a stupid clause into the contract in case he ends up in the same league he was in before…..JOKE…
off topic…Aston Villa chief executive Keith Wyness suspended for social media misconduct

Read that earlier Villaaway, seems like Villa are a team everyone loves to,hate when it comes to the FA, they want to get their house in order by stepping out of a bubble, how many of them are in retirement age I wonder?.I do think some refs are either blind, or deaf.along with the FA board.
Fucking joke you can’t say BOO to the FA ( Fucking Amateurs), can’t they keep up with modern times the refereeing in this country at times is a total joke. I agree bill they really need a sort out.
The FA have to pursue this righteous cause against all insundry to try and hide the incompetence and crass hypocrisy they practice on a daily basis.
For those that know their bible – ‘first cast the plank from thine own eye before removing the moat (spec) from thine brother’s eye’ – never a truer word when applied to the FA.
And while I’m having a rant the BBC reporting of the incident is neither balanced nor fair – but then we are talking about the BBC who are supposed to be impartial – right!
Badger mate I’ve found you a better job? all them hours you put in and unsocable times you can now enjoy the good times again, here it is, Club Journalist
We are looking to recruit a passionate and proactive club journalist to join our Media and Content team based at Villa Park.
The club journalist will work across a range of channels and locations to provide engaging, unique and relevant content to a variety of audiences and stakeholders, including, but not limited to, Content & Media team, Marketing, Communications, Matchday Programme, Foundation, AVLFC etc.

The role will involve planning and writing content as well as producing broadcast interviews and packages for social channels, AVTV and the club’s core website offering get in mate.
That’s a nice thought Bill, but I doubt it’d be me.
I wouldn’t be able to stand having to write about the really mundane stuff that I and I doubt anyone else, are interested in.
Plus I like to think I say what I believe and I’m sure that wouldn’t go down too well with the club at times.
But yes, the less physical side of it would appeal 🙂
i am going not slightly mad but totally mad. no football is killing me. feels like a long time because, even during the season I didn’t see us much. with no links bad links no media coverage. HELP
I read bill say everybody hates us. this isn’t true . fans of other teams like villa in my experiences. mostly cities fans who are mates love their villa park trips, I think the media have turned on villa thou. maybe its me being paranoid, but they~ officials bbc sky all seem to be knocking us lately. like we care anyways.
I cant bring to mind examples, its just over the last few years. presenters or co commentators. say things which is not impartial. my city mates also say villa away fans are a delight when they visit loud and vocal. but that co commentator, said sumat about the noise. clueless nobhead. villa fans have been treated bad by these ppl and by owners and players. if any set of fans have the right to moan its us
Nath , maybe not everyone, the other clubs like us because of crowds give you that, but dead right on the media score, even the punters have a knock in the comments, I’ve watched most games and the Villa name crops up, even in every major events.shame really Nath because I’m thinking that maybe when we tried to chop wages things turned against us.it’s my thought only.
They do it because it’s easy to knock us at the moment and they haven’t got the gumption or intelligence to write something thoughtful and constructive.
That’s a thought Hitch, maddening though to know if we had have had the right owners, managers and players, what might and could have been , i wonder if we will be back in the good times Hitch?only because FA have hit us twice this year with bans on players, now this with Wyness, its like refs and other officials are hitting us every time,
Not to mention that the issue with Wyness was over another blatant penalty in our favour missed by the ref.
Anyway I’ve already posted my views of the FA.
See Dr T has tweeted that media speculation on Villa transfers (in and out) are 0% correct – says it all really – fake news as usual.
Oh yes, I forgot about that.
Which sort of proves my point and why I can’t be arsed with it.
It also makes it more interesting though, as I suspect any of the lower league cheapo type signings will only be punts and hence bit parts in the bigger game.
Bruce said he wants quality and I believe him.
And I think we’ll get it.
I don’t believe anyone really “has it in” for the Villa.
I suspect it’s just a case of it being easy to justify knocking a “fallen giant”, as the fact is we’ve been a disaster of a club for years now.
Certainly it’s not my experience from fans of other clubs.
I always carry a Villa backpack to work and it has the badge clearly displayed on the back.
It has been mentioned once or twice over all the time I’ve been working in Liverpool (which is a couple of years now, over the last four).
Even then, when the joking dies down, it’s usually “what the bloody hell’s happened?” type question.
As for the FA/Wyness thing, well the FA has to be seen as politically correct, doesn’t it?
Which I find hillarious, as we all know very little in the game is PC.
That said, there is something in the comments about the media.
It still riles me that they favoured Ipswich over us in ’81.
Probably more of an underdog thing though, tbh.
They favoured Ipswich until the ducks quacked on the pond in Yarm. Bobby Robson never lived down that excuse and never set foot in VP again without the crowd quacking up!
Aston Villa transfer target Sam Johnstone will fall victim to a goalkeeping re-shuffle at boyhood club Manchester United this summer – even if David De Gea leaves for Real Madrid.
Johnstone is set to be shipped out by Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho, who has been buoyed by the news that No.2 Sergio Romero and Joel Pereira plan to stick around at Old Trafford in the event of a big name arrival to replace the Spaniard.
Mourinho as asked for 5 million and that means Villa will have to sell Gill, and Veretout to get the money.
Bill, would he come to Villa with other Prem clubs said to be interested – not sure he would. However, if he was prepared to join us then I think Dr T would make the cash available even if we hadn’t yet sold anyone.
Now linked with Glen Wheelan at Stoke?
If we wanted him we wouldn’t have to sell anyone as you said. Think Bruce only wants him on loan though. Or he’s looking out for another goal keeper.
At 33 and scored 8 goals in 332 games might get him for £4.50 , sure is going for the big names then.
LOL – apparently they see him as being able to take on the Jedi’s role when he isn’t playing but also to play alongside him releasing Lansbury to play higher up the field – but hey what do I know!
So he wants 2 defensive midfielders on at once? Wow… That would be Bruce. Negative and clueless.
Not all defensive mids score goals. That’s never been their job. And he’s always been a defensive midfielder.
Johnstone could go to Leicester, who could pay the wages, but would he be first choice?
Sunderland? I’d suggest they’re not really a much better bet than us and it might be a case of better the devil you know in staying with us.
I’d agree, we’ll raise the money if Bruce does genuinely want him to stay.
As for Whelan, I smell more BS, although he might be able to play a part as back-up.
But he won’t fit the wage bill or the timeline.
We really can’t be signing expensive old players now.
As for that link to the Norwegian player, wow.
Signed for two English clubs and never got a start?
I’d be calling for Bruce’s head.
Anyway, remember Xia’s tweet.
It’s all BS up to now.
In fairness to Forren, he only joined Brighton in March. Was never really gonna be more than back up that late in the season. We were linked before he went to Brighton so it seems an easy link now.
