Very true assessment on last seasons transfers, it is a shame to see, especially when the likes of Lowton seemed so promising. I looked forward to watching him play week in, week out.

Lowton big shame he didn’t kick on but still young and a reasonable squad player. I think Bacuna has real ability but needs to play right midfield and not RB – again a useful squad player. Helenius may still prove to be a decent buy as we haven’t been able to judge given his illness. I think Lambert has bought pretty well where he has spent in excess of £5m on a player; the others were young players bought very cheaply and we’ve discussed the reasons for that ‘ad nauseum’. Sensible policy to send some out on loan for experience and to keep track of their progress (or lack of it!)

      Perfect 100% quality then!!!

Mind you Okore and Kozac at less than £5m each isn’t bad business 🙂

Benteke, Okore and Cole all played for U21’s this afternoon. Benteke played 63 minutes and scored penalty; Cole also scored U21’s winning 3-0. Odds on all three being on the bench Saturday?

That really is good news. Nice to see Grealish getting a good run during the game as well!

how long is kojac off returning??, villa to lose both benteke and kojac this was rotten bad luck as both are the target men. without um villa lose 80% of the attacking threats, relying on speed of gabby and weimann

also cole 🙂 returning i am probably on my own ere, but i believe he will play his part this season. iam not saying 90 minutes week in week out but cameo’s ere and there he has quality and once fit he will make a difference. also grealish will come stronger and stronger and get more game time soon

happy days vtid just av 2 get past city weekend which will be another toughie

Nath; totally agree. How many teams would cope with losing both their number 9 leaders of the front line to long term injuries. UTV

    I really wonder about Okore.
He looked off PL pace in the pre-season, I believe.
But you would think that Lambert would be doing everything he could to get him involved.
Which suggests to me, that as Brick says, he’s shite.
Then again, given what went on with Lowton, I wonder if he’s just had a bit of a moan?

Ya it’s too early to tell yet with okore for me. I think we. An all agree that he has the potential or possibility of being a very good prem league defender a pacey one too – which are harder to come by … But a few games last season and just a pre season after his first long term injury isn’t enough to form a solid idea about him yet. Let’s not forget that chelsea wanted him and they generally don’t go for the mediocre potential – he did well to say no as he would be in some Dutch clubs physio room now with probably a short term contract winding down. Instead he is at villa bein prepped for first team action with the club interested in his short and Long term development in mind – instead of on loan at FC backwater

I used to really like Jose, but on his return to the Premier League, he’s turned into a right dislikeable wanker. Complete tosser.

Do hope Keane and Lambert are watching Roma v City. While we’re not near as good as Roma, nor do we have anyone even close to Totti, attacking their left side where there’s no one covering Clichy at all (Demichellis is slow, Silva doesn’t defend) and clogging the midfield where again (Toure doesn’t defend, Fernandinho has all the work to do) has to be the way to go.

Obviously Lambert made some poor purchases last year but you have to feel for him with Okore and Kozak. Neither of them had the chance to really prove themselves and now both have tor recover from a long term injury.

I’m not sure Kozak will ever be that great because he is so slow, but you never know. hope Okore turns into a real player though, esp with Vlaar and Senderos as mentors.

this city game wets my appetite, all my mates support um so wots are chances, well like andrew already said they can be got at, do we av the tools i think we do. but another factor is city are hurting and a wounded team is the worst sort of team 2 face.

its unfair statement saying kojac won’t make it cos hes slow. speed isn’t everything his role in the team is not of speed hes the benteke type holds the ball up, bringing players, a threat from crosses corners free kicks a target man works because of speed around him,

of okores i saw him pre season and he was totally of pace i don’t mean SPEED i mine he was of the game speed, hes gonna need time 2 fully recover and time 2 adjust he has or seems 2 av all the attributes so hes worth waiting on
