Just as it seemed that Jordan Amavi’s injury wasn’t as bad as it first appeared, so the OS have confirmed that the talented left back will be out for the rest of the season.

The hope was that he might have just twisted a ligament, but the update confirms that he has ruptured the Anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

This is a major blow to the club, as we are limited to who is available to replace him and it would seem Kieran Richardson is the obvious choice, a player who wouldn’t be many fans choice.

You would think that a proper replacement will be top of the list in the January window, which might impact on improvements in other areas, but that’s for the future.

In the meantime, I’m sure you’ll join me in wishing the lad a speedy recovery.

French? Unlikely. Kurzawa is by far the best french LB but he’s at Monaco, and would only leave for a big step up, Digne’s having a hard time at Roma but he’d still probably not come. Benjamin Mendy of Marseille is young and talented, dunno if he’s on the market or not.

As for other LB’s possible. I’d say Antunes of Dynamo Kiev, Boesnich of Leverkusen, Hector of Koln, Castro of Celta Vigo. One of those would be quality.

Someone mentioned to me about Ashley Cole, I personally wouldn’t take him but I guess he’d be an option.

Cole ? Good enough a few years ago, sure; but today i’d reckon he’s about as much use as Lescott.

That was my thought, but a few Villa fans and a close Liverpool friend claimed we should look at him on like a 6 month contract just to replace Amavi. I thought it was stupid mainly because we need a 2nd LB anyways, so why not actually get one who can start now, and fight Amavi for that starting spot next season?

I wouldn’t knock Cole as let’s face he was in an unstable team. It’s worth a go just to get us through them few months. If Garde get them knowing what’s what and believing in themselves it might work.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3324140/Tim-Sherwood-set-shock-Spain-former-Aston-Villa-boss-looks-rebuild-career-away-Premier-League.html

Wish him the best as he kept us up but they must be desperate!

Sherwood could sell ice to the Eskimos so getting the position would be a formality, trouble is it’ll be all down hill there on.he really is deluded when it comes to his abilities so nought surprises me with him.
