James Chester signed; confirmed from the horses mouth

james-chester

It’s in the bag and confirmed by Tony Pulis.

Well, I don’t know what to think here.
He seems a decent player, but I’m concerned that he hasn’t had many games under Tony Pulis and when he has started, it’s been at full back.

Pulis is a strange manager though and never goes with what players/fans think.
At the end of the day, he’s made Albion a profit and that’s important.

I just hope this is one we’ve been looking at for a while and not just a kneejerk reaction, which I seriously suspect Dr Xia might be prone to.

I love a good conspiracy and you have to wonder if RDM put that shower out on Wednesday evening just to show the Doc the reality of the situation?

…which might eplain how ‘passive’ he looked as the team fell apart?

Explains a lot and perhaps he also agreed with Oohaah that a Cup run would have stretched a fragile squad a bit too far.

It makes sense, but a lot of teams treat the Egg Cup as a competition for the stiffs. Nevertheless showing the owner what a shower they are disposed of any dreams he had of finding a gold nugget in the reserves.

According to the Sun we’re after Bamford and Gunnarson –

    https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/1602344/aston-villa-transfer-news-patrick-bamford-and-aron-gunnarsson-targeted-after-james-chester-signs-from-west-brom/

Not sure about Bamford personally but Gunnarson might be just the type of tenacious player we need for the Championship.

OLL summed Bamford up, too lightweight for the EPL but savvy enough for the Championship, he Championship player of the season 2014/15. Has for the conspiracy bit you do have to wonder if RDM was saying to the Doc “you expect promotion with this lot?”

No, he’s the Red-bearded Icelander who can throw the ball further than Grealish can kick it.

Chester is a great signing…but for the love of God, we have to bring in a right back before the deadline, the thought of Hutton, or worse Richards, is killing me!!

absolutely dreading the game today with rotherham. how sad am i. the mighty rotherham and luton games i should relish is cower behind the sofar. dreading the result and a week or torment. even my lucky pants and game day rituals have no affect lately. its like the football god have abandoned us for some unknown crime. please let today be a end of the nightmare omen

Good signing, Chester and Elphik at the heart of the defense gives a good, solid look to that position.

Next job should be to replace Di Matteo. The sooner the better.

    Di Matteo out.

Can only judge Di Matteo once all the signings are in because no manager can compensate for the type of defending Richards and Okore put on show against Luton

do you think sacking the manager will work. only i recall we have been through quite a few managers recently. i haven’t seen us improve yet. i think 1 league game and 1 cup game is just alittle rash to consider sacking a manager. looking at the signings he has made. the squad has improved massively. i think us fans need to wear the tin hats, get behind the team and club, pray this time we have chosen the right manager

That’s because we replace managers with like v like. We never upgrade. All our managers have been poor choices including RDM. Anyone with half a brain knows Pearson was the man

just heard lee hendrie on talkshite

he said sumat which i have been frustrated with. playing gestede upfront but not playing wingers to supply him. he said its pointless giving him the ball outside box. he needs the crosses inside the box. but RDM isn’t playing to his strengths.

we are a shambles, got to start forming a way to play. which gets the opposition under pressure. the passing the ball one side to the other working a opening. isn’t the style for gestede, you need a murhpy or ayew somebody that can move.

if gestede is in the team, i want us to use him and cross the ball. blackburn got 20 plus goals a season from him doing that.

Gestede shouldn’t be in the team though, he’s crap and destroys attack after attack.
He’s had one season in his entire career where he’s scored goals (the one at Blackburn) other than that his record is woeful for a striker. Another for the scrap pile

We should win today, Rotherham are a poor side overall who will almost certainly finish in the bottom 5.
The biggest problem would be if we fell behind as we all know how fragile the confidence and mentality is, hence it is absolutely imperative we start on the front foot and look for an early goal to settle the nerves/ unease.

i agree rotherham will be bottom 3. iam worried the crowd will be quick, to climb on their fragile backs. if we don’t get a goal straightaway, or like you said rotherham score shit will hit the fan. this game could be the kickstart we need and really should be,

can anybody tell me if chester signed in time to play this game
