News around Villa Park has been very quiet. And that’s not really a surprise, the club is for sale and Lerner probably doesn’t want to invest too much money into the team. Some owners have been linked, but more often than not, their representatives quickly reject the rumour.
Nonetheless, Jack Colback has emerged as a free target for Aston Villa. Colback is 24 years of age and can play anywhere in midfield and also slot into defence if needed. He’s a very versatile player that has performed well for Sunderland. He’s also a very experienced midfielder despite his age. He’s made over 115 appearances for Sunderland.
However, Aston Villa aren’t the only club tracking him. The media are linking him to West Ham as well, and they are willing to offer him a £50,000 a week contract. That’s something that Villa will simply not do. But if Lambert manages to convince him to join the club he would definitely strengthen our team as he’s been a very impressive player for Sunderland over the past few years.
With the club up for sale, lots of financial activity has been postponed. Including giving Vlaar, Delph and Agbonlahor new contracts. As good of a signing Colback would be for Villa, Lambert would have to convince Lerner to provide the funds for this move. Something that appears very unlikely as of right now.

Haha don’t make me laugh jack collback a good signing….his that good of a singing that Sunderland haven’t offered him a new contract his that good of a player that his a free agent and there only villa and west ham chasing him. If this is the kinda signing I’ve gotta look forward too this season am gonna go watch my local amateur team more pride and probe better football

Well, you asked for this when you force the chairman out with absolutely no potential buyers in sight(there still isn’t any). At least we were kind of comfortable financially and could maybe start spending. But, no. Now we’re stuck with a big for sale sign on villa park under to condition you spend all if your money on what the fans tell you and you can’t make any profit. Nobody in the world wants us. The club is on life support with no treatment available. It will be dead soon. We will mourn. But we only have ourselves to blame.
He’s not that bad in all fairness. I know he left Sunderland on a free, but that hardly means anything.

Villa boss Paul Lambert saw Scotland’s Under-21s humbled by the Dutch last week and may be closer to adding Billy Stark to his staff.
Lambert was spotted at St Mirren Park in Paisley for the European Under-21 Championship qualifier in which the Netherlands, inspired by hat-trick hero Quincy Promes, all but ended the Scots’ chances of making next summer’s finals.
That could help Lambert tempt Scotland Under-21 boss Stark to join his Villa Park backroom team in time for the start of next season as he looks to fill the void left by the departures of Ian Culverhouse and Gary Karsa.
Stark, who like Lambert also used to play in midfield for Celtic, moved into management as Tommy Burns’ assistant at the Glasgow giants in 1994.
He then went on to manage Greenock Morton, St Johnstone and Queen’s Park before joining the SFA in January 2008.
Lambert will also have seen an impressive display from 22-year-old Twente wideman Promes, who tiptoed around the Scots’ defence to net the opener before two more clinical finishes put the visitors 3-0 up.
Other players who could have been of interest to Villa include Manchester City centre-back Karim Rekik, who looks set to be loaned out again next season, and Chelsea duo Nathan Ake and Marco van Ginkel.
However there is claims that the No. 2 to Lambert could be an incredible one.
