It could be worse. We might have Tan.

It’s not totally Villa related, but it is in a way, if you see what I mean.

So Tan (I’m really not going to research his first name, such is the contempt I regard him with) has said to Malky Mackay “resign or be sacked” on the back of accusations that the latter spent miles above his budget in the summer window.
So how does that work?

Is it really the case that the manager has his hands on the cheque book and the chairman has nothing to do with it?
This is similar to what some people suggested wrt Martin O’Neil, but I very much doubt it’s the case.
Surely Billionaires don’t throw their money about like that?
Do they?

Anyway, the main reason for posting this, is more a message that Mackay has my support in this argument.

Tan has changed the clubs colours, he’s written to Mackay, slating his buys, his results and even the tactics. He’s sacked his number 2, totally undermining the manager and appointed some kid who was on a training scheme to take over.
And he expects the manager to resign?
What an absolute scumbag, in my opinion.

So this is just a bit of support, even though you’ll never read it Malky.
Make him sack you and pay you off.
Even if you resign, it’ll no doubt be seen as constructive dismissal.

Most importantly though, what’s all this doing to morale for the players?

I’ll re-iterate. What a total scumbag Tan is.

Should we really be wishing for Lerner out so strongly?
Perhaps things could be a lot worse?

I have always thought there were worse than lerner, and that he seemed to take a different course or try to rectify approaches after his mistakes.
Where as i don’t think he is the best ever chairman .. it alwasy seemed that we could do a lot worse espeicially when teh gillet hicks, carson yueng scandals were going on.

at the same time, i believe the Lerner out brigade fully realise the risk of getting a new chairman. we could be a lot worse off or we can aspire to get a sheik/oligarch in.

I think the Lerner out camp would like to risk that. where the Lerner stay or those that are indifferent to the ownership debate are not comfortable with that risk.

Tan is crazy but since he took over Cardiff have improved, since Lerner has taken over AVFC we have at best stood still.
Cardiff will achieve something before we do, because even though Tan might be a bit of a nutter,he has one characteristic Lerner lacks- ambition.

I highly doubt this. Tan is far too irrational to be considered ambitious. Plus his whole argument for hating MacKay is that he felt cheated for paying more in add-ons and now repulsed at the thought of spending more. Half of the comments against Lerner this week is how he hasn’t spent enough, so how is Tan ambitious by these same standards? If anything just have a look at Tan’s appointment for Cardiff’s new chief scout. It’s pretty obvious without MacKay Cardiff are going no where but down – he’s the only one keeping the fans, players, club united.

Really couldn’t disagree more Belcs. Just a pretty despotic abuse of power is how I see it. It suggests to me that Tan has no real interest in Cardiff or its history. He couldn’t be more different than Lerner in my view.

Lerner and Tan are as bad as each other. Granted Tan is embarrassing at times and way OTT, but on the other hand Lerner is unambitious and uninterested. Just think back to the never ending abuse Randy got at the Browns, so much so they rejoiced when he sold up. Tan isn’t popular but don’t make him out to be worse than Randy.
I remember people giving the Southampton chairman abuse for sacking Adkins, and how well did that work out. Strong chairman make bold decisions, unless your Lerner, then you just hide away and don’t speak to the fans.

I cant see how we can compare the two owners Villa and Cardiff are totally different, the clubs are ran sdifferently the owners are from completely different backgrounds. People are who they are and if they dont deleiver then they will be disliked or moaned about on forums/social media it goes with the territory as does praise. neither side of an argument can stop the other. this Tan seems to be neurotic.

Another argument to use is Southampton everyone was shocked when they sacked Adkins and then incomes the replacement.

Putting all that to one side our football is dross at the moment so if we lose those like myself who shell out a fortune for season tickets and travelling to and from the games are going to moan about it. A lot of people who sit around me are getting annoyed with performances and the total lack of learning from mistakes, we get torn apart on the left handside of the pitch game in game out, our midfield is lacking, something needs to be done about it this January because if it is not regardless of being accused of being fickle or not a real fan the boos will be ringing out loud and clear throughout Villa park as will the calling of the chairman, the ceo and the managers head.

January will be interesting, I genuinely think 1 quality playmaker for £10-12 mil would see us improve tenfold. It would be better to spend that on one quality player now rather than 4 or 5 average potentially good players. We have a bit of squad depth now so lets get some here and now quality in.

spot on adam, we’re not asking for the world, not asking or expecting us to sign Juan Mata but a significant purchase for the mid would improve the team no end.
as for tan, the man is a disgrace and its people like him that make me fear for football in the future. he has no respect for anyone or anything clearly.
as for learner I believe he has set out on this project with lambert, the ‘young and hungry’ route or as its also known ‘cheap n cheerful’ 😉 but I think the two of them need to concede that we need to invest in a bit of quality and experience to balance the squad out.
