Lets start with the good news, Christian Benteke is ahead of schedule and will beginning training during the International Break! He torn his Achilles and is well ahead of schedule, he has already started some light jogging and light ball work. He will start joining his team-mates within a week. Kozak on the other hand still has a few more weeks to go.
“Christian is ahead of Libor at the minute in his rehab.
“He will be, with a bit of luck, doing little bits with us after the break. Then we will see how he is.
“He’s doing really well. Libor is a bit behind him but doing very well himself.
“If Christian can start training with us that would be a major thing.
“Then we will have to see how he is for games-wise and see how he feels himself.
“But in terms of physical condition, he’s looking fantastic. He’s desperate to get back. – Lambert
Interestingly, N’Zogbia suffered a similar injury as Benteke, yet it took N’Zogbia a full season to recover! But it’s important that we get at least one big striker back, we have been desperate for goals and Benteke might soon start delivering sometime in September.
Now onto Saturday’s game against Hull City. Ron Vlaar and Cissokho will both face late fitness tests. Vlaar has a slight knee injury and Cissokho had to come off with an ankle injury against Newcastle last week. The duo missed out the League Cup game against Leyton Orient. Meanwhile Jores Okore will not be risked this weekend as he continues to suffer with a knee injury. Should Vlaar and Cissokho miss out, Baker will most likely face Hull alongside Senderos with Richardson filling in the left-back position, this would allow Sanchez to come into the midfield.
Hopefully he’ll get injured over the Christmas period otherwise we’ll def lose him in January if he is fit. Won’t we oohah?
IF Viaar and Cissokho are out we are in trouble. I don’t rate Richardson and am not even going to talk about Baker. Fingers crossed the two boys are fit we need Benteke back ASAP . As for our so called strick force, Gabby must be on the bench against Hull he offers nothing to the team. COME ON THE VILLA
Apparantly, according to the Daily Mail, Cleverley has met with Roy Keane who is trying to persuade him to move to Villa on a promise of regular football and a rebuilding of his career. Reading between the lines it would seem that (at present) only Villa have made a formal offer – the others (Hull, Everton and Valencia) are ‘monitoring the situation’ – whatever that means.
It’s also being reported that Cleverley would like a season long loan move which would then enable him to move on a free and negotiate a higher wage deal ‘unaffected by a transfer fee’. I think that alone would put the kybosh on any possible move to the low pay unit in B6!!
Thanks for the additional information, if it’s a loan. I still think this will be a little like the Dempsey situation, nothing will really materialise. But at the same time this could be a cover bid for some other players, like Dempsey and Benteke and Bowery
Look at how Dempsey did we had a lucky escape there hopefully will with cleverly as well
Anyone else think we should be spending this money that has suddenly appeared on a play maker?!?
Also for those people who were interested in him. Blanco is gong to WBA for 2M
Can’t believe that we didn’t bid for him. He is a decent player and is worth way more than £2 million.
Would’ve been a decent cheap play maker
Hmm I’d rather take Holtby for 6 mil if I’m honest! Cheaper, better and what we need! Wake up Lambert.
Also fuck Gabby off and call up Robinson, he has some raw talent and I’m sure would be a better option.
Adam fully agreed on both points, bring in holtby fuck gabby off.’
Giddy Gabby is a player that don’t want to do to much but just enough to satisfy Lambert, he don’t get involved if he can help it, he been doing it for years, I spoke to his best mate about 4-5 years ago and told him what I thought of his attitude and to relay what I said, and it was about that time he was doing the very same thing. He needs a kick up the back side or get out.
Bill; I really think Gabby’s biggest problem is an inability to read the game so, at times, he gets completely lost and ends up running (OK probably not running 🙂 ) around like a headless chicken. He’s best at chasing down balls in the channels using his speed and not a lot more so why PL insists on playing him as the central striker rather than Wiemann I have no idea!
Hitchens he should of been an athlete mate, not sure when you stick a round thing in front of him he looks a bit lost.
Can’t argue with that mate
spot on, look at his record under mon his scoring increased season upon season because he knew how and where to play the lad – down the middle. Remember how he used to terrorise viditch? Only since manager after manager as insisted on playing him out of position as he gone backwards.
Bill obviously his mate didn’t pass it on to gabby as I think over the years he’s got worse mate.
Ps even Ladbrokes news is of the same thoughts concerning holtby.
He tore us apart at villa park playing in the att mid role, no brainer for me, obviously we don’t know the wage demands etc but can’t be too much different to what Cleverly’s would be!
Mate every midfielder tears us apart at VP
Being good against Villa is not the yardstick for being a good player in recent seasons.
Spot on even me and badger would look good against that bunch of useless fuckwits. I remember we signed hadji years ago because he did well against us ffs
Agreed on Holtby and saw the piece in Ladbrokes. I suspect he’s set on returning to Germany with Hamburg his likely destination.
