I’m pretty much there too in the sense that we have been there or there abouts the last 4/5 seasons and ultimately if you keep flirting with relegation eventualy you drop just like Wigan . As much as it will hurt me I will take a small bit of satisfaction in knowing that mr Lerner is going to feel a bit of what us loyal fans have felt over the previous 5 seasons when it hits that greedy yank bastard in the pocket and let’s be honest at the end of the day that’s all he cares about .

As I said yesterday I haven’t given up yet personally I couldn’t give a fuck what other fans think about that, but I must admit if the R word happened I’m with you on that Markham seeing that yanks pockets hit would put a big smile on my boat race.UTV

Agreed with the fact it will hurt Lerner most and I will take satisfaction in that. At the end of the day we are Aston Villa we have amazing fans and we will 100% be back within 3 years if not sooner.

Just what is the point of clinging on to year after year of scrapping relegation, rubbish performances, no goals, no entertainment and every week a gut churner as you wait for another set of dismal results and pray that somehow 3 other teams will be even worse.
The PL is nothing unless you are one of the rich 4 / 5, with a hope of getting on the Champions League gravy train.
Even if we improve and even get decent again we will not break the top 4 and the Europa league is no prize to aim for – so 5th and down is nothing.
Far better imo to go into the championship, win a few, lose a few less, score some goals, play with more freedom, play at 3pm on a Saturday, have some great away days, local derbies beating the blues and the wolves and enjoy the game.
    Money has ruined the PL.

It’s what iv been saying for years couldn’t agree more. Unless your in the top 4-5 teams you are nothing in the prem. At least we will win a lot more in championship problem is if we one up again then it will still be the same rubbish. Until lerner goes supporting this club is pointless literally!

In all seriousness, i aint giving up any time soon. We’ve got 12 games left, almost a 3rd of the season! We need 5/6 wins tops, its very doable especially withthe up and coming fixtures.
Id say at the moment we’re 50/50 and im not expecting miracles , ive seen this squad too much to expect that but i do believe we can string a few wins together.
As for relegation its not all rosey there, there’s no evidence to suggest we’d be able to bounce back and if learner cant sell he’ll try and run the club on league 1/2 money until he does.
and its worth remembering that for every club that bounces back there’s more that don’t. I expect when they were relegated the likes of Leeds, Coventry, Wolves, Blues and many many more thought theyd be straight back too. Christ blues came in a whisker of playing league one football last season not challenging for promotion!
Also the premier being all about the top four, well isnt the championship all about the top 2 and the top 6? Isnt that what every league is about?
I agree the money has fucked it all up at the top but hopefully ffp will start to take its effect to some degree as time goes on, the likes of man city and Monaco already feeling that.
    ready to go down?
    Am i fuck!

Wish we had this bunch of players instead – http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31588196

Parma are broke and haven’t paid their players yet ‘Parma’s players are prepared to pay for their transport to Sunday’s Serie A match at Genoa if the club cannot afford a bus’.

Showing some bloody gumption. Someone please send a large tin of it to VP.

I’ve been reading all the blogs and I honestly think we’re gone.

Interestingly the 5 stages of grieving explain a lot –

    1) Denial and isolation. Giddy and Hitchens take note 😉 Also fans not turning up for games or wanting to even discuss football

    2) Anger – Just read any blog post of the last year or more and you’ll get shed loads of this

    3) Bargaining – ‘God I’ll be very, very good if you give us a couple of goals’ …been saying this all season, hasn’t worked yet

    4) Depression – where I’ve been for quite a while

    5) Acceptance – where I am now

    ..or in short…. we’re f***ed

Pat obviously I have to disagree I’m not in denial I’m fully aware of our present position,as are another handful of teams above us.36 points up for grabs & as you know this time of the season the form books are fucked off out the window the top teams hate playing the strugglers any manager would say the same.we have a new manager who I believe will do things,if we had got even a point Saturday I’m sure the mood would of been more positive than it is Sherwood said we’re going to lose games between now & the end of the season give him a chance FFS the way some of you lot go on it seems pointless getting out of bed in the morning.UTV

A WBA supporter said to me on Sat that the difference between Pullis and Sherwood is that Pulllis would not have lost that game v Stoke. He would of took the point and moved on. Though you can’t legislate for what Vlaar did or maybe we can he always has a mistake in him.

Scenario. We go down learner gets a right kick in the arse everones delighted cus learner got he deserved but then he tries to offload club but no fucker wants to buy us the better players we have (tongue in cheek ) fuck off for half nothing then we are rightly fucked more likely to drop again so anyone who thinks we will waltz back up again is coding themselves. Yes it would be nice to hit learner where it hurts but be careful what u wish for

What is keeping me positive is the fact we should have earned a draw on Saturday…. It was just terrible bad luck and Vlaars awful (cart horse) judgement which made us lose the point which would have pulled us out of the bottom 3.
If we would have won 10-0 pundits would have put it down to ‘new manager syndrome’ and wrote us off…. I predict a draw against Newcaste, and two wins against West Brom and Sunderland……. Anyway must go as the nurse is here with my medication !!

50/50 for me. Our position is retrievable as long as we outperform 3 of the other clubs and it is very tight. I had all but accepted relegation as inevitable under Lambert. With the change of manager there is a glimmer of hope. Nothing to get carried away with, but it’s way too early to throw in the towel. In truth, saying you accept we are going to get relegated is just a protection mechanism, trying to prepare yourself for the worst in order to lessen the pain if it happens.

if we can win a couple of games soon it will look a whole lot different.

Well must admit thought we would have a perfect start with Sherwood! When we scored that goal I thought woooooo, here we go, what the hell is going on at villa, I mean ffs come on why was it left so late in the season to change the manager and now with all the backroom staff changed too its madness, I really hope with all my heart we can make a great escape, but time is fast running out, its the goal diffrence that is gonna see us off, crazy our two strikers are on loan Lambert should have been told to keep his indiffrences with Bent off the pitch, stupid prick! Anyway all that said I have faith in our new boss he seems very passionate, about the job in hand its funny in our house coz my old man is a spurs supporter, he said bloody hell if anyone can do it Sherwood can so over to you Tim we are all behind you , and we have got macdonald back at least he knows the players, hell even Paul Merson is backing Sherwood, so cant be all bad

I would like to make an apology, for the past few months I have been referring to a certain Mr Vlaar as a carthorse – which he is obviously not and this is unfair – to carthorses

After a thorough investigation (i need a hobby) I have discovered he is the following:

The Sloth (latin name Ron Vlaar) is the slowest animal in the world and the name sloth is actually a synonym of slow motion. The top speed of a sloth is 0.003 miles per hour, (considerably faster than Ron Vlaar), they are so slow algae grow on them, but get agitated and like to kick out at humans, especially in penalty areas.

It would take almost a perfect storm for a club the size of Villa to go down, and it might just happen. Terrible top level decisions, poor management, consistently bad tactics, injuries, players woefully off-form and a shocking inability to score goals.

I can still see us squeaking out of it if we can start scoring, but I think if we do go down, there wont be too many Villa fans saying ‘I cant believe this has happened’. Its been coming for a while now.

Although, think of the irony if Derby (managed by Mclaren and spearheaded by DB9) take our place!!
