I think you are a bit wrong. It’s shaping up that I could see 35 being enough in all honesty. Big clubs trampling the smaller ones so it’s basically going to be (who of the smaller clubs can beat the smaller clubs the most) kind of deal.

He’s not strong enough for what Lambert wants him as, but he’s more than strong enough to be in the team each game behind the striker. Lambert seems clueless on how to use him. He can play as an out and out striker, did it really well, but he can and has played behind the striker, and was assisting a lot, his passing and vision is class and he really doesn’t need to learn from the 3 strikers to make it as his own ability is enough to make it. Use him the way he wanted to be used when he first came “I wanna play with Benteke, not be his back up”.

Well said mate, I’m a tad disgusted with Lambert. He’s taken Helenius from Aalborg where he was becoming a prolific striker and winning the SuperLiga player of the year for his goalscoring ability and general all round play.

It should be Holt learning from Helenius on how to score/pass not the other way round….The “How to fall on ur backside after the slightest touch” technique is not what Helenius is about. He’s a footballer, not a brute…

        Andrew January 22, 2014 at 8:13 pm . Reply

Exactly, but I would rather him go on loan than to be forced to sit out the rest of the season watching players he’s just as good as with his technical ability. I think he’s best suited for a more technical game and that’s not Lambert’s game, so I can’t see him being a Villa player under Lambert as no one should want him to have to change his complete game to a lesser game.

True but he coukd be injured for those games and no guarantee utd will win anyway. What about the long term gives utd a chance to get champs league now and with mata they will attract much bigger players next season and be challenging Chelsea. The only thing I can think of is mourunho might go to utd or it might pave the way for Rooney to go there. Anyway they’ve done utd a massive favour IMO

United are hardly a rival… Mata’s not gonna fix United, he’ll help, but their midfield and defense is garbage.

He wont fix, but will help repair. Think of all the players City and Chelsea have got in the last year compared to Utd. Once and if United decide to get in the quality and when the injured players are back they will be a force again.

It proves my argument though that a manager is only as good as his players. If we signed messi and mata today we would shoot up the table. Not because lambert has become a genius but because we have two works class players on board. Moyes will get himself out the shit simply by throwing bug money at it a luxury he never had at Everton. This does not make him a better manager just a manager with better players.

          2. Andrew
            Andrew January 23, 2014 at 3:04 pm . Reply

The thing is though is that Moyes is going after players not interested. Vidal, Marchisio, Pogba, Hamsik, Alcantara, Fabregas… None of them are going to join United. Bayern aren’t going to sell Dante in January. He’s scouting all of these players hoping to sign them when he’s not going too. Moyes needs to learn who’s realistic and who isn’t. Mata’s realistic because Mourinho’s a strictly counter-attacking manager and Mata’s not going to play that style.

In the short term yes. But next summer they will have mata Rooney Rvp januzaj and a few other additions and will be challenging again. Utd will start throwing big money at it now and the signing if mata will attract other big names. Effectively Chelsea have thrown them a lifeline and they should get champs league now.

That’s if Moyes can get the best out of him. He can’t get the best out of Kagawa who’s incredibly talented and also an AM.

Guess so but he will be moyes signing which makes a difference plus utd will be able to attract better players once Matas signed. I’m amazed that they are selling him to utd though villa yes utd no

Mourinho aren’t going to find United a threat as he knows yes while Mata, a returning Rooney and RVP will be great, they don’t have a squad good enough on all fronts. Midfield is poor and defense is poor. Plus with Rooney playing as an AM, Mata’s most likely going out wide which will considerably limit his influence.

Mata to ManU. He’s one of my favourite players. Of course he’s just cost them more than our entire squad did but what a player he’d be in claret and blue! Sadly that will only happen when he’s 36 and we have a Spanish manager.

If Hutton goes we may see a Defour type player but I doubt any one would seriously want that pile of money draining shit at their club. So it will be Hoolahan and that’s it I reckon. Links to Kakuta on loan, quick player with bags of skill but hasn’t set the prem on fire maybe he isn’t suited to the league or maybe we could get the best out of him. Would just be another loan to help Chelsea though at the end of the day.

You’re right, you’re right and I agree. However the 3 loan signings I don’t get the problems with. We needed a LB, and while I might be wrong, I still don’t think Bertrand’s all that great. We needed a replacement for Kozak and why sign a striker permanently when we have a few and Holt could prove decent. Dongou will not only improve us immensely, but seems Villa are hoping for some kind of partnership with Barcelona. If we got first dibs on their incredible academy on loan, even if we were a title challenging team, I’d take that in a heartbeat.

I’m not sure loan deals smack of short termism and small club mentality. What’s the point in having a loan player to knock of the rough edges for the big clubs. It means that these clubs get even bigger and better squads as they can keep them all happy by loaning them out. It’s all wrong especially loaning from the same division.
