Getting impatient? Don’t worry, it won’t be long, imo.

It seems the natives are getting restless!
Or at least some of us are.

And to be fair, I can understand, as it’s become seemingly more obvious day by day that Steve Bruce is the man who’s going to be coming in.
Well, at least that’s how it seems.
Which means if it’s true, there’s a very valid point to be made that each day that passes means less time for Bruce to get to know the players before a very important game against the Wolves.
Hence we’re quite simply wasting time and should have appointed the bloke last week.

So what are the reasons why we haven’t appointed him yet?
I can think of a few, but the main ones revolve around Xia not being in the country and China has just had a week off. I know we think it’s highly urgent that we appoint, but while I don’t know what Xia’s actually been up to, maybe he’s just wanted to try and get his head around things and think about our situation?

Let’s face it, while we’ve said “this next appointment is one of the most important in our history” every time we’ve been after a manager since Martin O’Neil, I’d guess many of you will probably agree with me in saying that this time, it really, really is.
If we get this appointment wrong, the simple fact is we could end up back in the third tier of the Football league.
And that’s downright scary.

And then consider who’s the one who’s going to get the dog’s abuse, if we do get it wrong?
It isn’t going to be you or me, as much as most of us are calling for Bruce to come in.
I really don’t envy Tony Xia having to choose in the slightest.

There are also other reasons.
We know we’re down to two candidates, with the other possibly being Steve Clarke.
But maybe there’s another candidate that we don’t know about? I agree, it’s unlikely, but the press don’t have a clue, as we’ve seen by some of the people who’ve been put forward in their stories.
Just the same as we don’t.
Or of course, it could be something as simple as ironing out the details is taking longer than it ought.
Bruce is known for being a straight player and will want things his own way.

Whatever, I’d be surprised if the new manager isn’t in place before the Wolves game.
Because, regardless of what we might have read about the board being impressed with Steve Clarke, I think if that were particularly true, we’d have appointed him straightaway. Why wouldn’t you? He’s here, after all.
No, Clarke doesn’t make sense.
So if it is Bruce, I reckon he won’t want to let Clarke lead the side out. He seems itching to get going again, which means he’ll be doing it himself.

Talking of Xia, he’s been listed as one of the crazy top ten owners.
And apparently got the right hump.
You have to laugh.

And then Ayew is crocked after his Ghana escapades. What a surprise.
What next? Jedinak? (if he starts for the Aussies, that is).

If we didn’t have bad luck, we wouldn’t have any at all.

I’ll go along with that, he’s been having talks with his boss’s in my mind and as you’ve said wants to be here to break the news, I’m convinced it’s Bruce and the club is following protocol in finishing interviews with all applications. Shame is we should have had Bruce done and dusted last week to take the team forward , my hope is that the team know how important the next game is for the fans.

I don’t understand why everyone seems to think that this appointment [if it is Bruce…] has ‘taken so long’.

Assume that the club did have him at, or near, the top of their short-list. Assume that he’s interested in the job.
    Good, it’s a starting point.

But given the stated reasons for Bruce’s departure from Hull, I can understand why he might actually want to meet Xia face-to-face and directly confirm the basis on which they are going to operate.

And given Xia’s already-dodgy form when it comes to appointing and then firing his manager, it seems quite reasonable to assume that Xia might want to check-out his next prospective appointment in person, before going down that route again so soon into his ownership.

Then add all the usual guff around ‘terms’ [i.e. the contractual stuff] and presentations, and to me a ten-day/two week process from start to finish doesn’t look at all slow,

I don’t think Bruce was ever first choice, I’m sure the club sounded out other better options but given the position the club’s in it was always going to be hard to attract someone of a top calibre.
Nevertheless, its pretty underwhelming knowing that its a short term appointment. We have to hope Bruce can someone get us up by the end of next season and then we can move him on for a manager that can actually build long term. I presume this is the clubs plan. However, we seem to have been through so many plans in the last few years, its hard to imagine things panning out so clearly

To be honest all this ‘getting to know the players’ is pointless talk as half of them are away on international duty so wouldn’t get to meet them as a group until Wednesday or Thursday anyway. I think Xia will opt for Bruce personally, Dyche is going to cost more with the compensation.

Not claiming to be ‘ITK’ but just been told dug outs at VP have been swopped around this week because the new manager is not prepared to walk past the away dug out to get to the home one (eg home one has heated seats – away one doesn’t ). No name provided but has to be Bruce – doesn’t it?

We have been joking about what a Feng Shui expert would have told the owner. Such as swapping the main entrance to Witton Lane, not terribly practical, but this is classic advice, do not pass your rival’s house take another route.

Maybe it’s Dr. T that has swapped the dug outs then? Best keep a look out for bulldozers along Witton Lane!

My information is fact that the dug outs have been reversed (or at the very least there has been a lot of hastily organised work carried out) – maybe it’s supposition about who instructed it.

i think Lambert swapped the dugouts round so the home dugout would be nearer the holte end. We have been shit ever since so swapping them back might be a good thing

Looks like the club are at least trying for Dyche. As I expected, Bruce is a kind of worst case scenario option.
I think we’ll probably still end up with Bruce as I cant see Dyche wanting to drop down a league (such is the shambles we cant attract managers from Burnley and Huddersfield at this moment). But credit to Dr Tony for giving it a try.

Interesting that Dyche has moved to evens money so quickly which suggests a fair amount of money has come in for him. On one point the media appear to agree and that us Villa will appoint a new manager before the weekend – whether he will be in charge on Saturday – who knows.

The other interesting points are that Dyche has not ruled himself out and he has now moved to being favourite for next manager to leave a Prem club (over Bilic). Stranger things ………….

Ok IV heard on very good authority that Bruce is first choice and we want to offer him the job. However he is allegedly involved in the Telegraph corruption investigation and the club are making sure it won’t come bk and bite them or him on the arse. As long as club are convinced that it’s all over and sorted then they will employ him if not they won’t. That’s y there is a delay. Bruce being involved is alleged of course.

I’ve always rated him and will continue to fight his corner when some want him out. He is a class act, he needs to be in a team playing with confidence which is why he hasn’t hit the heights with us but does with the u21’s. Also he needs to be played just behind the strikers not as a winger. It will happen for him at Villa guarantee it.

Hi Bill, I watched the game and he was very impressive. He was given licence to roam both right wing and central midfield starting from a deeper position where he was running at the opposition. I think we should be playing him more as a number 10 type player rather than seeing him as an out and out striker.
