Gardner and Robinson sign new two year contracts. Good

It’s been desperately difficult trying to find any news about the Villa lately, let alone anything even remotely good.
But this piece, is for me, definitely good news and quite frankly, makes a change from me just having to talk about bad stuff.

So Gary Gardner and Callum Robinson have done what’s in the title and they’re both players I like the look of, although to be honest I know a fair bit more about Gardner.

Of course, they aren’t the spectacular signings I’m sure we’d all like to see, but they are the future.
And at least the fact that we’ve re-signed them means even Lerner isn’t that stupid in thinking that we should let them go. Thank goodness for small mercies eh?

The OS gives the usual PR type quotes from the lads, which bores me to nearly tears to be honest.
I’d much rather hear the basic “I’m chuffed to bits” type comment that young lads typically come out with, but there you go.

It’s also nice to hear that Gary regards himself as a fan.
As opposed to a certain brother of his, who I won’t mention.

Regardless, I wish them the best of luck in the upcoming season.

Andrew , all what your saying sounds great to me, just a thought am I right in saying it was Roy Keane that at the end of his playing days had heart problems?, I’m for his hard approach in the game long overdue, if you recall some of our players are still in the cradle days and need to understand all are equal on a football pitch. I’m ready to give Villa benefit of the doubt in what’s going on with a tight git like Lerner, l now hope a change will come.

I think its a case of wait and see with Keane. Sunderland players cheering when he left? I seem to remember they were crap and didn’t get any better without him. O’Neill says he has been great with the Irish team. He isn’t stupid and he does tell it how he sees it. Maybe his experiences will help in this current role.
You also have to consider the fact that we are not an attractive proposition at the moment. Who of any real proven quality would want the job in the current circumstances? The future looks grim, but we really have to have realistic expectations for now. A few places higher in the league without a season long stress about relegation would be welcome. It’s not much, but I can’t see it being much better than that, and of course it could be a lot worse.

Lambert is waiting for all the Division One players to get back from their holidays in Cleethorpes, so the WC is a red herring.
I don’t think I’ve dreaded a season like the one we face. Pray for a new and decent owner!

Donacien’s signed a new 2 year deal. Well at least we’ve understood keeping our youth.

Whats this pathetic obsession with these “young players”.
One of them signs a new contract and all of a sudden its the best thing in the world.
The success rate at Villa of players actually breaking into the first team and becoming a good player is very low.
Just because they sign a new contract doesn’t mean they are any good.
Clutching at straws springs to mind.

If saints pay £15m for that useless lump on the back of a couple of decent wc games then they really are stupid. Great business for us for once. Thou we are stuck with sender dross now obviously why he was bought!

Only way Vlaar can be sold is if the money can be reused. Could get 2 solid CB’s for 15m, no one world class but good enough for top 10.

Why on earth would anyone want Vlaar gone?
Oohah, even though you think he’s crap, he’s still the best we’ve got by a mile.
And if we do flog him, do you see Lambert getting the money to spend/waste?
    Because I don’t.
Get rid of Vlaar and we’ve weakened the squad, yet again: something that you’ve constantly complained about, the same as me.

I really don’t understand your thinking sometimes mate.

Yes badger he is the best of a bad bunch of defenders but even with him playing we were still poor. I do think Okore coukd potentially be very good and send dross is the obvious replacement. I agree though lamberk won’t have the money to spend but from Lerners pov would I trust him to spend it I wouldn’t.
