Gardener and Bent recalled? UPDATE 31.12.2014 – 13:04

Late night posting and all credit goes to Vital Villa for the spot.

The Argus newspaper have quoted Brighton and Hove caretaker Nathan Jones with the following

He’ll be out for seven to ten days because of the groin strain. Villa have recalled him and Gary (Gardner) anyway. They want them back involved and then we have to revisit that in the near future.

They’ve both done fantastically well. On behalf of the football club we’d like to thank them for their endeavours

With the injuries and red cards, this should come as no surprise but to be honest, it has surprised me a little.

I am glad to see both return, but can’t help but think where this puts the likes of Grealish and  especially Robinson who was also brought back from a loan spell.

UPDATE

It is being frequently mentioned that Alan Pardew will make Bent his number 1 signing once at Crystal Palace; this would put a bit of pressure on Derby who are also in for the forward.

After the way he has been treated at the Villa, I can’t see him staying which makes it a bonus if there is a price war (if only a small one).

Does this mean little transfer money. Gardener yes, but bent. Will they sit on bench ? What is going on in Lambert head ? Am suprised myself about this.

Seems Bent is going on loan to Derby because they’re willing to pay most of his wages, unlike most other Championship teams.

Gardner’s a clearly obvious one because of the injuries and suspensions to our midfielders. We needed one anyways, so why not give him a chance. Does mean we don’t need a CM currently.

Agreed; I think we are pretty much OK for DM and CM even after selling Delph. Must buy an attacking midfielder in January……..oh wait a minute we’ve got Cole for about 3 of our remaining games! I do rate Cole if ONLY we could keep him fit!

So a £30k fine for failing to control our players. Didn’t look any different to what the likes of Chelsea get up to throughout every game.
Anyway was the incorrect decision to make us play Man U for 30 mins with 10 men more than enough punishment?
And while we are about it, what about a sanction against the ref – a huge cock up all of his making, and only Villa get punished. A week later the refs at Everton, letting Barry kick lumps out of opponents and Walters rugby tackle Baines as he approaches the area only the keeper to beat – no red card.
About time the FA looked at its own incompetencies and dealt with the cheats making the most of mistimed tackles to get opponents sent off.
    Rant over.

RW – you echo my earlier comments. There is no consistency and IMHO the only answer is to use instant video replays and a ‘third referee’ to judge. Works well in rugby so why not football?

At the risk of starting to feel paranoid, I’ll chuck Sterling’s slap v Swansea into the mix. Comparable, or worse than Benteke v Spurs??
Benteke gets 3 game ban. Cost us 3 points in that game, and probably another few in the games he missed.
Sterling? Well the officials saw it, thought it was fine, so no punishment. Consistency indeed.

I see lambert wants a Xmas break stating that quality suffers. What about the dross we have served up all season. It wed be better if HE had a permanent break.

Let’s not blame the player’s, Lambert played players out of their comfort zone and bewildered us all, what he’s up to now is a selling and buying issue, I don’t trust the idiot what ever he tries, my minds made up about him ever becoming a manager in the real world. I know this we will not go down but not be a club teams will fear.

Am I the only one who wouldn’t mind Christensen from Fulham? He has quality, he’s young which was part of Lambert’s original policy and unlike other signings he actually seems to have some promise.

And now we have some leverage! Imagine if we could use Bent as part of some deal to bring Bolasie to Villa!

I hope you’re right about Derby. No point having filling up a spot on our bench. Would much rather see Robinson get some game time. Bent does absolutely nothing as a sub. No reason Gardner shouldnt get a run out, esp in the FA cup.
