Massive, massive, cock up then, again did Sherwood know about this when he took it on? If so he’s a twat. So where’s the blame falling at Lerner’s feet? or Fox?, how are we the fans going to get over idiotic management when they go down the line to experiment on running a football club.it now looks like a no way out club.

Surely when Sherwood was having his interview the matter of transfers & the clubs policies would have been discussed or was it a case of I want the job yes sir no sir 3 bags full sir.again I feel he’s pushing the blame off himself because he knows he’s in the SHITE

TS said (when he took the job) that he didn’t think twice and jumped at it – or words to that effect. As I said he’s a fool if he took it without understanding the his and other management roles and how they fitted together. That I think is either desperation or pure arrogance.

Overall it seems he lacks the experience for the job – whatever else one thinks of Rodgers he does have a wealth of experience. TS kept us up no doubt, and whatever it costs to dismiss him then Lerner’s still quids in. He has to go now and bring in Rodgers – he’s used to American style management and he might just keep us up.

Oh yes, concerns about his defensive abilities as coach – actually if we play attractive attacking football and give the new signings a chance – so be it.

i would imagine Sherwood had put in his wish list of players required, fox and Reilly have identified as good or better alternatives, i don’t see a problem with this if Sherwood is as good as he thinks he is then it should not be a problem sorting out your best team/formation/style of play, thinking any modern coach should be able to do this without having to resort to favourites think Wilkins is a bit of a hindrance as well

On a different subject, did anyone hear Paul McGrath being interviewed on Talk Sport this morning. Have a horrible feeling our old hero is back on the sauce, he was struggling for words and seemed to keep repeating the ones he did find. Alan Brazil kindly and politely cut the interview short, hope to God that God is ok.

He’s gone, and no matter how much of this type of crap he leaks out to the press, he will never get another big job. Sherwood is finished

    my problem with this is
at the end of the transfer window Sherwood thanked Lerner for the investment, was happy with the business that had been done and said the book stopped with him.
if he wasn’t satisfied why say anything.

From various media stories this morning there seems to be momentum gathering about all of this.

Various sources reporting that Sherwood is under real pressure and a few even suggesting that Lerner or Fox are already ‘looking’ at Brendan Rodgers.

It’s only Monday, but with some steam building up behind this, I’m now wondering whether Sherwood will still be in his job by the time we get to play Chelsea?

I’m starting to wonder that I feel though Chelsea will be make or break anyway there struggling but we’re just SHITE so I’m sure this time next week it’ll be a case of adios ta for keeping us up last season

I’m sure I’ve read comments on here slagging Rodgers off and laughing at Liverpool’s misfortunes. Lot’s of Liverpool’s transfers haven’t worked out, but who is responsible for them? Liverpool fans have been critical of his management, player selection and tactics. If Sherwood goes is he the right man for the job? Personally, I think he is a decent manager and he may well be one of those that are better on a tighter budget than being given the keys to the sweet shop.

I said it before Lambert being fired. Who would expect the management at the club to make the right appointment? We just seem to lurch from one bad appointment to another.

I’m in the camp of those that feel we have a decent enough squad to not be in our current predicament. Team selection and tactics and maybe motivation are what’s missing. Is Sherwood going to suddenly get this right? It seems unlikely, but it looks increasingly as if he is going to have to to keep his job.

Think you make a good point about Rodgers regarding budget and maybe a different kind of expectation. If we do go down, I would rather Rodgers than TS in charge of the club for next season – if you get my drift.

As it happens I agree with DS on the squad and I feel that TS has completely blown a gasket. All goes back to the Leicester game; TS panicked and over reacted. I’ve moved decisively for a new manager before we really are in the cr*p

I’m usually supportive of our managers because of the fact that it is a tough job and does take time. In this case I am concerned that TS has lost the plot. The first hour against Leicester was good, and he needs to get the team playing like that asap. I don’t understand why Ayew is getting so little game time. We need results soon and it’s hard to see where they are coming from. I wanted Rodgers before he went to Liverpool, and I agree he may be a decent long term manager. A foreign manager may not be the right appointment given the position we are in. Allardyce would have sorted us short term, same as Pulis would have.

Lot’s of people said anyone would be an improvement on Lambert, but we can see it’s not quite so straightforward.

We have to think outside the box Moyes and Rodgers are another Lamberk imo. A safe pair of hands but that’s it. I keep saying we need a forward thinking foreign manager like Kouman or Ranieri we always end uk with these Scottish and Irish grey suited clones

I actually agree. Someone outside of the UK would be better suited to the new club structure we now have at the club. Rodgers really is the same as Lambert and I’m pretty sure Moyes isn’t interested. Sadly no names really jump out to me though…

From the players he has mentioned, only Townsend would have been a good signing. And lets be honest, with Traore, Gil and Grealish we have good players in those positions.

The problem is that Sherwood did not seem to have a formation or team in mind when he was bringing these players in…he still has no idea what to do after 10 games.

IMO, we should play this team (4-2-3-1) for the next few games and try and play some football instead of long balls to gestede.

    Guzan
Hutton Richards Lescott (or Okore) Amavi
    Sanchez Gana
    Traore Gil Grealish
    Ayew

Give Ayew a chance to play up front and link up with the other 3.

It is irrelevant who signed the players. If you are a PL manager and you are given a squad of 25+ players many costing upwards of £7mil , you must do better than 1 point out of the last 21 scraping through in the league cup against 2 lower league teams.
Tim has to go simply because there is no evidence whatsoever that he can do anything about it.

Heaven forbid the board try and operate the club with a longterm strategy in a sane, functional manner. Regardless, the reason why we have been so poor this season isn’t in who we have signed as the articles may or may not suggest, but rather Sherwood’s inability to adapt to the situation on and off the pitch, his poor tactical nous, and his questionable ability to be a manager in general. Credit to Sherwood for keeping us up last season, he was the right man for the job in the short-term, but if he cannot come to terms with the realities of managing a football club then perhaps he should find a new profession (ie pundit).

Had Sherwood had his way in the transfer window I honestly believe the club would have been worse off. Not only would we have only signed 4-5 players, due to wages and transfer fee, we would have been stuck with players like Lescott who sure have the EPL experience but are long past their best. We tried that recruitment policy under AMC and look what happened – still paying N’Zogbia’s insane wages, Jenas was immediately injured, and Hutton is still a hot point of discussion.

What I cannot understand is that when TS started he was a breath of fresh air. Kicked every ball and most importantly got the fans on his side from day one, then it looked as if he was going to build on what he did at the end of last season having secured our PL status. You cannot tell me that a manager is completely overridden when it comes to new signings, and then is told this is who we are buying without him having a say in in any of them. If we had bought those 3 from Spuds then we would be right in the shit, 2 are crap and Townsend is just no better than we already have. I just think he is very much a manager that thrives on positive results and has no plan B to put things right when it goes wrong and it knocks his confidence, which does not bode well. Even Wilkins with all his experience just brings nothing to the cause. As much as I agree we should change it now, my thoughts have always been give him a chance, but it may be too late by then. We have the players they just need to be playing to their strengths and in the correct positions ie Grealish is not a winger he must be given a free role in behind the strikers, Baccuna is not a right back and Kozak deserves a start. Guzan is a stop gap as he is an unpredictable liability. Even though Gestede is our top scorer he has the first touch of giraffe with a club foot, but when we do play to his strengths he will score, so set the team up to supply the crosses
He will need at least a point at Chelsea and a win against Swansea, other wise any less than 4 points and he will be gone. We will be lucky to get a point from the next 2 games. If TS does go I hope we appoint someone before the wally with brolly gets the push!

I know a lot of people are talking about it, but i honestly dont think we should play Richards at RB. I think he is doing well at CB just needs a regular partnership. I do however think we should sign a RB in the Jan window.

Richards should stay at CB, he only wants CB and he’s done really well at CB. Plus he probably has a better shot at England for CB with the way the others are playing. A Rb is definitely needed. A few I can think of off the top of my head. Arias, Corchia, Mallo, Debuchy if he ever got over his injury problems, Uchida. Just a few that are actually talented RB’s.
