Everton Vs Aston Villa Review – Today we were a disgrace

10 minutes into the second half I sent this to Badger,

I'm not going to be able to write the review today. I'm livid, absolutely livid.

Making me angry watching this shambles. Everything that can go wrong, is going wrong.

The only reason I have now come to write my review is because I just watched Albion slot one past United and it brought back all the anger from Saturday. That should set the mood for this post.

Our past 4 fixtures have seen Villa lose 11:0.

This is the longest running fixture in top flight football and we did that feat no justice. We are becoming a disgusting disgrace.

I spouted in the preview about how this was going to be an attacking team and we should win 2:1, I couldn’t have been further from the truth. Our attack, our holy grail Benteke was MIA. He just was not in the game at all. The only good that can be taken from this game is that the away support was fantastic, completely out singing the home support (Not that Everton ever make any racket. They have one of the quietest supporting base I have ever witnessed “3 nil up and you still don’t sing”), if only the players played with as much passion.

Where to start then?

DEFENCE

The mighty Vlaar was back, but not back on form. It wasn’t just the defence, because the entire team looked shook by the constant bombardment that Everton threw upon us. Weak points would be Clark and Cissokho. Clark is scrappy, unmatured and needs to leave the club immediately.

Clark was not supposed to be on the pitch but was brought on early in the first half when Baker suffered an injury. This adds to the curse of the Villa CB’s and hopefully we will find him back in the team very soon as he started well and I believe he really has come of age.

Cissokho is awful going forward, we have talked about this in previous weeks. He comes across as rushed and sloppy with his passing being off and balls being well wide.

Hutton has been brilliant and spot on all season. He had a great game but was let down by the majority of the team (who would have said that a season or two ago?)

Midfield

With the absence of Delph, we needed players to step up and that didn’t really happen with the exception of Cleverly.

Cleverly played his socks off. He passed well, he got into space and ran himself ragged getting the ball back. Again, it is a shame that the rest of the team was not on form or even on the pitch.

Where was the rest of midfield?

Strikers

Did we have any on the pitch? Are we seriously the only team in the Premier league that doesn’t have a decent strike force? We all put too much faith into Benteke and too be honest with you, I think he will find it hard to replicate his first season for us, very hard indeed and since i’m saying that, what chance does that leave Gabby and Wiemann? I’ve said it before, I have no faith in either of them as goal scorers.

Honestly from the minute we started the game to the minute we ended it, we only looked decent for roughly 3 minutes of play. Our team is just not up to the standard the premier league is expecting, it’s becoming a harder competition and you either have to swim or sink. We are a sinking and doing so without so much as a fight.

We need players. After the game I counted and named the players on current form who I would keep in a team if I had to pick.

Guzan
Hutton
Baker
Vlaar
Cleverly
Delph
Westwood

I would only consider taking 6 of the players from the team that started and I honestly believe that we need at least 6 new players in order to sort this mess out. 2 strikers, 2 wingers, 1 left back, 1 centre back. If we don’t spend in this winter window, we may run the risk of going down and it really saddens me to say that.

Please. We want your opinions as well. Write an article into us and share your perspective on the matter.

I take my hat off to you Mr Cheese, it always hard to suddenly see what been said now for season after season and be humiliated by knowing its not going to get better, I don’t know what the answer is its turning me against the club in general, How much more can fans take, other clubs find solution we just ignore the problems, the players are not good enough full stop.

Understand where you are coming from. Benteke is a must in any team we put out. He needs game time after so long out and he needs a team that can attack in numbers and create chances. Agbonlahor and Weimann are both one-dimensional players. Weimann is a total waste if played out of position. Agbonlahor simply isn’t good enough.

I too watched WBA vs Man U. We would be negative against them and let them totally dominate us. Barahinho has already scored at least as many goals as Gabby or Weimann will get all season. I am no football coach but Gabby and Weimann in a front three are totally and utterly useless.

Until we can retain the ball in the opposition’s half and provide some attacking threat we will struggle. The players are not top class but we should be a whole lot better than we are. Lerner is certainly culpable but at least has some excuse in that he tried and failed. I don’t get the feeling that Lambert has any real conviction about the team and starts from a position of not wanting to get rolled over. Just too negative and I’m fed up of it and I can’t defend it any longer.

We play QPR next. A similar performance and defeat against them then I feel there is nowhere for Lambert to hide, He needs to show some balls and go for the game. I don’t mind getting beat if we have tried to take the game to the opposition. looking to lose by the least amount possible is simply unacceptable.

Have a go or just fuck off.

QPR game is big and getting bigger by the day, redcrap could be sacked, if he fails 2 beat villa, he could even leave before the game 1/2 favorite nxt manager 2b sacked, QPR played really well against pool, but they leave massive gaps at the back, gaps that gabby weimann and benteke will av a field day,
p/s drop nzog for weimann and work on cissokho passing and crossing

Agbonlajor will be useless unless the QPR ground has a barn door next to the barn door that he can’t hit (actually one on each side of it). Weimann the same unless he can play alongside Benteke and stop doing the headless chicken runs on the wing/in the channel.

Don’t give a stuff about Redknapp. Dead man walking. Just glad we will play them before he gets fired, though I expect us to give him a reprieve for a week.

The shots on goal stats are truly shocking. There is no way in the days of OPTA and sports science, let alone just watching SKY that Lambert can’t know that. How on earth can he even seek to justify it???

Like I said earlier. Show some balls and get sacked having a go rather than limp along. Better to go out in a blaze of glory than a bullet in the back of the head in a dark alley. If you get my meaning.

The qpr game is going to be tough, very tough, they know they need a win and unfortunately we are a great chance for 3 points, just get a man 10 yards near out players and watch us give the ball away. They will be all out attack and we will try defend the whole game again.

We need to attack fast and hard from the start my team would be
    Guzan
    Hutton, vlar, Senderos, cissoko
    sanchez, cleverly
    Bacuna, weimann/cole, grealish
    benteke

Cissoko obviously can’t cross so just let him defend and support grealish while Bacuna can cover defensively for Hutton when he attacks and not to mention bacuna can attack and score a goal too.

Weimann Benteke did combine well before so if they both stayed around the box I feel they will get goals and cole can come on later or vise versa.

Talking to my greengrocer who’s VILLA through & through said he feels the QPR game will be a bench mark for the season ahead as for scoring goals as they have a well dodgy defence.if we don’t score against them we couldn’t score in a brothel.

BWS , I think everyone’s had enough now, year after year, month after month, week after week, how much more till the club breaks, Birmingham city it self should be on the map with at least one decent club, why don’t the media of Birmingham come out and spell how humiliating it is for our city alone, it has to be dying slowly and a yank doesn’t care, even businesses have to be pulling out, sales are down, what the hell is going on?, I can only hope someone will have the balls in the city to say our city being pulled down by bad leadership at Villa Park . Don’t I go on, 🙂

watch chelsea now on telly now the formation and set up is the same as aston villa are TRYING to play, hazzard and william aren’t wingers they are inside right and inside left and its the ivanovic azipillcueta that are the width and oscar is the guy in behind the striker

the only difference is aston villa aven’t got the quality but nzog and gabby are playing the hazzard and william and clevery is doing the deeper oscar role but much deeper

Yes seeing that Nath, when it kicked off I could see that the two backs are the wingers, and Oscar and Hazard William central midfield, as you said they have the know how we don’t.

Too be honest, I am putting most of the blame.on the players. I won’t let lambert of of the hook though because it is him buying.these.players and not picking up on when they go wrong.

The players have been somewhat awful, not all of them but let’s take cissokho and Richardson as an example. Both players.miss.passes consistently and cissokho screws up crosses. How are we supposed to make scoring opportunities if the ball can’t even find its way to the right players feet or head.

These are things that need to be sorted out. Play the passing game, don’t hit the ball up front in hope. These players need to be told. If you can’t get the ball where you want it, pass and move to make space. This is where.lambert comes in. If the players don’t do what you want them to do, you warn them, you work then harder until they get it. The team has to start think, reacting and playing like a team.with football heads.

Plus Chissoko first job is to DEFEND.. the fact he has to try and create is due to us having rubbish on the wings.. now again.. why hasn’t the manager rectified this.. the guy is a clown.. full stop.

chelsea played as a team lion, defended as 1 and attacked as 1, the 3 behind the striker rotated, Willian ended up in full back position and Hazard also tracked back and did his covering in the full back area. VICE VERSA Ivanovic and Filipe Luis both were in wot you regards as winger territory, now you telling us this is a big no no . you wanna watch more football and study your formations if you go for your badges.

cissokho needs to be able to pass the ball and cross it, cresswell is crossing some beauties for the hammers wasn’t he a lambert target but we couldn’t prize him away, being the big attraction

anyone think cissokho is a earl barrett mark II he was a good defender at times and dead awful once he passed halfway

He chose to play this system and get these players in.. no wingers.. creativity.. goals from midfield..

I can’t believe people are blind to this..

We can simplify everything.. last night did you see Chelsea Barca Bayern played with 11 players.. a GK like we do.. a midfield and striker(s).. so everyone plays the same it’s just our players are not good enough.. the manager isn’t to blame 😀

PL has 8 MILLION sitting there to invest and his answer to our lack of creativity and goals from midfield was Tom Cleverley lol

Now TC is a decent player IMO.. so is Kozak as back up to a degree.. BUT when you have gaping holes in your team that need attending too.. they are NOT the answer i am afraid..
