Darren Bent is set to join Bright on loan for 28 days. The deal will be wrapped up within a 48 time period so the 30-year old forward will be available for next weekends round of Championship fixtures. Bent, Villa’s record signing has made only 8 appearances this season, the majority of these came as a substitute. It’s apparent that Bent isn’t wanted by Paul Lambert and a move to Brighton will give him the opportunity to get some game time. It also seems unlikely that Bent will be offered a new contract, Bent’s current deal expires at the end of the season.
Brighton have already brought in Gary Gardner and Joe Bennett. Both have performed well, Gardner has chipped in with a series of assists and a goal or two. Bennett is regaining his confidence, but Bennett still intends to play a role at Aston Villa next season as he matures and improves his overall game.
In other rumours, apparently Aston Villa are recalling Callum Robinson who has had a very successful loan spell at North Preston. Robinson scored a hat-trick in their FA Cup fixture against Havant & Waterlooville and most recently in Preston’s 1-0 victory over Bristol City. This could be Aston Villa’s response to Bent going out on loan. But personally, more game time at Preston would be more beneficial for Robinson, rather than the odd Premier League experience. If Grealish is yet to get some serious game-time, I struggle to see how Robinson will achieve that, especially with Benteke coming back very soon.
last night lambert sent him on to see out game today sending him out on loan,and we have only 2 different scorers scoring the grand total off 6 goals in 13 matches no to mention end off last season,lambert hasnt got a clue next 4/5 matches we need a goalscorer not a love child in wiemen

I reckon Bent hasn’t been given a fair chance, Bent should’ve started at least once in the Premier League. That would’ve been a fairer evaluation on his performances
Sorry, but I have to disagree, I don’t think we have the team or style for Bent to be effective in our squad. We need players with energy who are more than capable of moving for the ball. That might sound like a dig at Bent, but I don’t mean it to be.
Robinson would be more effective in our team and what is worse than not scoring already? Give the lad a shot.
Lambert has destroyed Bent, in my opinion. Probably he was too outspoken in the dressing room.
darren bent played under three fulham managers 2013~2014 jol, meulensteen and magath. he hardly made a impact,motivation or lack off or maybe hes lost his mojo, but he had been bench warming there also, 2 academy kids were keeping him out towards the end of season.
robinson will be a breathe of fresh air, hes hungry and will grab any opportunity hes given, same with grealish hes twice the player of nzog hes another flop that needs a drop kick into touch

And keeps wiemen who could of won & killed that game yesterday with a simple side foot like Clyne but no decides to blast it as hard as he can and hope for best. It bent was on the end of that pass he’d of slide that home!!

It’s the same old argument with Bent though, if you don’t play to his strengths he offers little else.
Agreed BWS. Bent wouldn’t have got on the end of that because he would have been closer to the 6 yard box.
I know Bent isn’t the perfect team player, but he saved us several seasons back, and I have never seen a senior player disrespected to such a degree as Bent. Seems it’s the only thing our club specialises in.

Bent needs the service to get the goals unfortunately we presently can’t provide that.I feel it’s like we’re playing with a man down when he’s on the field,I have a feeling he won’t be wearing a VILLA shirt again especially if Robinson & grealish prove themselves.
Bent looked really slow when he came on against Saints.He needs service of real quality so he can tap it in.I think he’s past his best and we have to move forward.I agree that Bent is a goalscorer but who is going to feed him?utv
