There has been a lot of talk about players moving to Aston Villa, some names include Hoolahan, Lescott, Defour and Wells. But with one or two players joining Aston Villa this season, could we see a player or two leaving the club in January? Some clubs tend to have a sell-then-buy policy. However I’m sure Villa have a buy-first-sell-second policy this January transfer window.
Goal Keepers:
Brad Guzan, Jed Steer and Ben Siegrist will definitely stay until the summer! Guzan is number 1 and Steer is number 2. Meanwhile Siegrist is out on loan at Burton. Shay Given was linked with a move to Swansea but with his current loan deal at Middlesbrough expiring in February, he won’t be sold this month either.
Defenders:
Lambert will not sell a single defender! Aston Villa have had numerous defensive injuries so far this season so every player will be needed. Bennett and Herd are close to returning from injury and Okore will be back by March. The only exception is Allan Hutton. Still out of favour and will be looking for a move. He plays regularly for Scotland so hopefully he can find a club.
Midfielders:
With a few midfielders linked to join Aston Villa I reckon we could see a midfielder leave Aston Villa. As of right now, Marc Albrighton has played the least amount of football in midfield. However, with his recent form he’ll be given a chance and will probably not be sold. However, last season signing Sylla could possibly be sold. If Aston Villa received a bid for the Malian midfielder, I’m pretty confident Lambert would accept it. Sylla did well last season, but this season he has been poor.
Forwards:
Jordan Bowery, that’s all I really got to say. All other strikers have scored a goal except for Jordan Bowery. He has had two seasons at the club and has been restricted with first team appearances but still had a few playing time. Aston Villa have a lot of strikers and the Bowery experiment has failed. He is the same age as Benteke but he just isn’t anywhere near that level. Should an offer come in, I’m sure he’ll be off.
ADAM i have just tweeted the only departures will be the fans deserting the club in droves unless experienced players are bought in or Lambert is sacked.
That’s actually a valid point, if Lambert doesn’t bring in any experience then the fans will lose hope.
ADAM mate is there any hope it seems that any player of quality does not want to come to VP take Ireland for instance he only came as he was forced to as make weight for Milner. We are not going to get players of quality come in unless they are forced to by way of making up a fee for one of ours and at the moment we have not a single player anybody wants apart from one.
Ever ask why do these professional players stop playing ? Like Ireland, Sylla, all reputed to be excellent players for other clubs, to me things are not right inside Villa Park. Again the words out in football don’t pick Aston Villa.
Well hell, when all you do is defend, defend, defend, would you not be bored? When you’re a pretty decent, technical player and know you can actually work the ball but are told not too, would you not care? When you have a bunch of idiots coaching you, yelling at you and such despite following exactly what they say, would you care? Of course not. Despite it being Villa, you’d be bored out of your mind as Lambert is the definition of anti-football.
speak for yourself TJ i will still continue to support Villa
Same, I still enjoy watching the games. We haven’t been that bad this season. We’re still 11th. If history is to repeat itself, then Aston Villa will have a great second half of the season
Sylla’s played little football and when he has he’s out of position. Lambert’s ruining a potential quality defensive CM’er
bang on mate
Well put. Sylla’s a solid player if played correctly but again, why would a Villa manager play a player correctly? That would probably cause mass hysteria at Villa Park if that happened.
Can’t see many clubs banging the villa door with the dross we have on offer bar guzan.we can say we’re safe in that dept.
the only players we are currently attracting with our prospects and wage structure are lower league players like westwood who are like ‘me play in the premiership?! fuck yeah! count me in!’ or cheap euro players who are exactly the same.
anyone with any ambition or quality will be put off by the state of the club, the low wages and the lightweight squad. if you’re an experienced quality player we can afford you, if you’re a talented prospect looking to break into the prem then there’s better clubs to aim at.
*should say *cant afford you*
obviously 😛
bowery and sylla were both gambles and admittedly didn’t come off but if they get sold or went 4 nothing, it would mean we lost nothing really, so its worth the calculated risk on these types ok not this time but there are rough diamonds out there
Going all tits up for us again I see, Sunderland 2 up, West ham 1 up, Barry with a 25 yard goal. Oh happy days.
But OGS our new messiah who we wanked over is losing at home to west ham!!
Well the Albion are 1 down big help.
That’s the bonus with low transfer fees. If they don’t play well, then it was still a decent deal nonetheless.
I’m at a loss, even after Lambert makes it clear we won’t be spending a lot of money and Lerner continues the decline of our club. There are no posts on this site questioning Lerner or more importantly calling for him to go. WHY? Instead we have trivia, WHY? No wonder Lerner feels he can do what ever he wishes. Villa fans appear naive and accepting of our clubs decline under Lerner WHY?
This site has called for lerner a head from time to time Ted and I for one would love to see him go. Problem is there is nothing we can do to get rid of him and I think morale is low with most fans at the moment that no one can bothered to boycott or protest in earnest. IMO boycott club and merchandise is the way forward but we will still sell 20,000 plus STs in the summer as the villa pr machine will link us to Messi and most fans just don’t see light tbh.
I really don’t know what to say about Lerner. He can’t just go, he’s the owner. So I feel a bit silly writing posts like that. Lambert has said that he will be bringing in a player or two this January. The month only just started so we all have to be patient. Most of the action will happen towards the end of the month.
Also since Lerner doesn’t really talk much it’s difficult to report much. Also I don’t think he’s a really bad owner. I mean, have you seen Cardiff City?
Anybody else watching the Everton game? Lukaku’s body language and all round game is no different to Bentekes.Been very lazy, rarely chases down and only comes alive when the balls played to his feet (at least he gets it to his feet). Must be a Belgium thing.
Barry’s goal wasn’t bad. Though I prefer tonev sylla Westwood and kae anyday…not!
Lukaku has been out of it for a bit, hasn’t been scoring as many goals. Surprised that they’re letting Jelavic go. I guess they’ll try to sign a quality striker in the summer.
Hazard’s been doing really well, I watched Hull V Chelsea yesterday and he was the catalyst of the team.
Fuckin sell the lot apart from guzan and benteke .
Don’t be silly Little 8 we might win a game, Helenius I did have the privilege to watch Hull and Chelsea and to be honest its good to see a decent football game.that’s something that you don’t see at Villa.

Why all these irrelevant comments? wake up the club is being destroyed.
Who cares about HULL V CHELSEA?
LERNER OUT
TED…. think you will find that I ALWAYS slate Lerner every time I post…..this one is just for you!
Fuck off Lerner, the Villa is OURS
🙂
Ted mate questioning Lerner is pointless as we have beaten that monkey with a stick time & time again. We all know Lerner isn’t properly funding Lambert but we have no way of doing anything about it.The only way to get the message to Lerner is this…..Get the bed sheets out with a message saying”LERNER FUND LAMBERT” then next upcoming games nobody goes so VP is empty devoid of home support.Thats the only way UTV
The only problem with that banner jay dee is that the jobs worth stewards won’t allow it and neither will the club per se. No free speech at VP fuckin disgrace v
Ted of cause you don’t care about Hull and Chelsea , but I look at the wider picture, Hull is in12 drop position with us, you should bloody care now where other teams are,you know I fucking know we are in shit street full stop, I can only say like others Lambert and Lerner are the worst pair of crap anyone would want a club to have, I’m fully awake to our plight Ted what do you expect me or others to do, you get the banner and I’ll write the words Ted but don’t, blame people that care .
Its looking like we will only be spending pennies in this window. One player I wouldnt mind signing….cos he is cheap, is Jordi Gomez. He is not a bad AM and was quite good forWigan last season
Ted…………Fuck off Lerner, the Villa is OURS
Gomez scored a few goals last season. Not a bad shout, but I’d still prefer Hoolahan.
We could do with a new fucking team let alone a couple bar guzan.fuck off you yankee arsehole & most certainly that 4eyed fucking prick.im past caring now.
Told you we should have signed my boy Lolley pop…got a hatrick for Kiddy today mate.
🙂
Fuck off Lerner, the Villa is OURS
At least he knows where the net is,good game im going to use a word iv not used for ages mate ‘entertaining’now you don’t hear that word at vp.
There is a good article on the AVILLAFAN site, highlighting comparisons between VILLA and the Cleveland Browns. LERNEWR really is answerable there are far too many coincidences.
YES JD I agree with you Boycott, don’t spend money. I nearly bought my daughter a shirt yesterday BUT couldn’t tolerate the thought of giving LERNER money.
As long as individuals attend villa park and hand over money Lerner will continue to show no interest and make money.
Sorry But if people are happy to accept our current position and give Lerner money, we will be relegated.
LERNER OUT
Lerner out UTV
Lerner gets money if Aston Villa stays in the premier league, and I guess everyone wants that. A businessman with an idea of earning money on an EPL team will not sell or leave because fans ask him to, forget that, get it out of your system. What we can do is support the team and try to help players get the mental strength and motivation to overachieve for the cause instead of making them scared and panicking while boos are ringing out within their own stadium. A lot of people here are crying out for experienced players that can “put an arm” around the young scared players… What about the supporters, do you seriously think that arm will matter if your supporters call you p*sspoor in every football forum… Like that is really going to get you playing to your best abilities. What separates athletes at this level is motivation and mental strength, we should do our small part to give our players that edge both in the stadium and on twitter and forums… even if they fail they should be supported so they can come back stronger… this negative shitstorm is what is going to drag the club down…
Rubbish the fans are behind the team every home game and still get one of the highest averages in the prem even though home form is shit. These are highly paid players that should be motivated by just putting on the shirt ffs. The team does poorly at home simply because it is not good enough there is no quality and no ability to break teams down at home. The fans under MON used to get on the players backs at home from time to time but they still won a fair amount of games. Why? Because we had better players who had quality in the team not a bunch of lower league nobodies who cant beat teams like Sheffield utd at home ffs
You are right that the support, especially away, has been very good! But I think all the character killings and slating of players at the web, at least when they are young can get in the players head and will not help them to have the confidence you need whatever money you get paid when playing in front of a big crowd. It is simple psychology really, time and time again it is proven in sports that the metal strength and confidence is strongly related to results. Although it is easy to understand because of the really bad play and form, I have trouble understanding how the boos can generate anything positive. It creates a negative atmosphere which will make it more difficult for the manager to keep the spirit up, he could loose a bit of confidence himself which make decisions worse and the negative spiral is spinning down. Last season we also had a really bad spell, even loosing a two legged game to Bradford as we all know, but later in the season the support that stayed managed the team to pick themselves up and actually finish pretty strongly. Thus there are some ability there, but something seem to be missing now, perhaps som quality players I do not know. But certainly all calling for manager to go and Lerner out is not going to produce much of positive results for the club. It is difficult to be an EPL manager focusing on football, but if you always have to be in constant crisis management not much creativeness or excellence will be created like in any other organisation. I want things to improve but have a trouble seeing the negative postings will result in that, my trust in Lambert falters but think it is best to help him doing something good until Lerner decides to change if he decides to do so. Fair play to him in the last Lambert pre Arsenal presser I actually thought he was quite good.
Ted! .. totally agree.. the team is is playing rubbish football .. Lambert has only got us marginally higher than last year. Lerner is not releasing the funds and bringing in the type of players that will get us to compete for a top 4 or even top 6!
Once all us fans stop going to matches/ buying merchandise etc protest whatever we need to do .. i am just thinking a little further but .. what should we protest for once Lambert is gone say? .. who should we protest into the managers position at villa?
in terms of Lerner .. once our message is finally made clear and he has no other option but to sell Villa.
who do we try to get to buy the club and how do we achieve this?
Also how do we keep this secret from the other fans of the other 15 clubs in the premiership who don’t top tier managers or owners willing to spend 50–100m each transfer window. Considering no one else has figured this out yet?
forgive me if i am thinking too far ahead or to relative or comparative to other premier league teams.
What about adding that fat b*****d faulkner to the list.
TED JAYDEE LANGFORD As i see it no good slating Lerner at every cut and turn we know he is not going to sell the club unless either he is made an offer he cannot refuse or disaster strikes i;e relegation as in my opinion he would not fund the club to try and bring us straight back up.What is interesting however is that he seems to find the funding to bring in a player or two to keep us up in the same way as Sir Deadly did for many years and he knows that the fans in those dark days were content with that as we did not expect anything else.I for one would welcome new ownership of VP as long as they breathed eat drank and slept VILLA as the saying goes. But how many perspective owners are out there in that vain.
Good point Terry! I agree with that.
Irony of the day….Notts County 2 Sheffield United 1……Man of the Match……Jack Grealish!
Fuck off Lerner, the Villa is OURS
Grealish should be in our first team every week IMO and Robinson, two players that can make things happen. Then there’s carruthers too. Anyone see the worrying statistic that Arsenal have played villa 14 times at villa park and won 7 drew 7 add that to the fact were awful at home spells trouble to me!
We haven’t beat utd at home since 1995 and wev only beaten Liverpool a couple of times at home in last 20 odd years absolute joke club
I’m not sure if I’d like to have three very, very young players starting for us week-in week-out. They need time to develop but soon they’ll be playing in the first team. I’m mostly excited about Grealish right now, looks like a real talent!
Would like to see Robinson go out on loan
Grealish has been recalled by Villa.
That’s the best bit of news I’ve heard in a long time. Let’s hope the kid can make an impression. Now to find out if Gardner is ever going to get some first team playing time. Helenius comes on and scores but will we see him again?
I don’t think that’s true. They just extended Grealish’s loan deal. Lambert wants him to be playing at Notts County where he’ll experience lots of first team football
Yes it is true. He states it himself on his own twitter account!
That’s great news, hope he gets his chance to impress. Gardner must be chomping at the bit to play he should get some game time soon. Got to play Helenius too after his goal imo. Mirror have us linked to Kyle naughton, good right back and very quick just how a full back should be. Would like that to happen.
there is one way to get your point across with a banner, but you need balls and be able to run and two of you, when villa go a goal down ,on the pitch you go, head for the center have the banner facing the directors box “Lerner out”or what ever ,but do it peacefully ie: no hitting any of the stewards or any think like that as you want the press to say things about the banner not the fans….you will get chucked out you might get your season ticket revoked but as long as no trouble its just a protest and cannot get banned for to long.
A good suggestion only two things wrong with that, you would be charged with trespass plus incitement to cause trouble. It would then make the club ban you for what ever they deem. I’ve know local papers get banned for just writing detrimental things about the club. Your only way is wait for the directors to leave the club and protest then.
