ADAM i have just tweeted the only departures will be the fans deserting the club in droves unless experienced players are bought in or Lambert is sacked.

Ever ask why do these professional players stop playing ? Like Ireland, Sylla, all reputed to be excellent players for other clubs, to me things are not right inside Villa Park. Again the words out in football don’t pick Aston Villa.

Well hell, when all you do is defend, defend, defend, would you not be bored? When you’re a pretty decent, technical player and know you can actually work the ball but are told not too, would you not care? When you have a bunch of idiots coaching you, yelling at you and such despite following exactly what they say, would you care? Of course not. Despite it being Villa, you’d be bored out of your mind as Lambert is the definition of anti-football.

Well put. Sylla’s a solid player if played correctly but again, why would a Villa manager play a player correctly? That would probably cause mass hysteria at Villa Park if that happened.

the only players we are currently attracting with our prospects and wage structure are lower league players like westwood who are like ‘me play in the premiership?! fuck yeah! count me in!’ or cheap euro players who are exactly the same.
anyone with any ambition or quality will be put off by the state of the club, the low wages and the lightweight squad. if you’re an experienced quality player we can afford you, if you’re a talented prospect looking to break into the prem then there’s better clubs to aim at.

I’m at a loss, even after Lambert makes it clear we won’t be spending a lot of money and Lerner continues the decline of our club. There are no posts on this site questioning Lerner or more importantly calling for him to go. WHY? Instead we have trivia, WHY? No wonder Lerner feels he can do what ever he wishes. Villa fans appear naive and accepting of our clubs decline under Lerner WHY?

This site has called for lerner a head from time to time Ted and I for one would love to see him go. Problem is there is nothing we can do to get rid of him and I think morale is low with most fans at the moment that no one can bothered to boycott or protest in earnest. IMO boycott club and merchandise is the way forward but we will still sell 20,000 plus STs in the summer as the villa pr machine will link us to Messi and most fans just don’t see light tbh.

YES JD I agree with you Boycott, don’t spend money. I nearly bought my daughter a shirt yesterday BUT couldn’t tolerate the thought of giving LERNER money.
As long as individuals attend villa park and hand over money Lerner will continue to show no interest and make money.

Lerner gets money if Aston Villa stays in the premier league, and I guess everyone wants that. A businessman with an idea of earning money on an EPL team will not sell or leave because fans ask him to, forget that, get it out of your system. What we can do is support the team and try to help players get the mental strength and motivation to overachieve for the cause instead of making them scared and panicking while boos are ringing out within their own stadium. A lot of people here are crying out for experienced players that can “put an arm” around the young scared players… What about the supporters, do you seriously think that arm will matter if your supporters call you p*sspoor in every football forum… Like that is really going to get you playing to your best abilities. What separates athletes at this level is motivation and mental strength, we should do our small part to give our players that edge both in the stadium and on twitter and forums… even if they fail they should be supported so they can come back stronger… this negative shitstorm is what is going to drag the club down…

Rubbish the fans are behind the team every home game and still get one of the highest averages in the prem even though home form is shit. These are highly paid players that should be motivated by just putting on the shirt ffs. The team does poorly at home simply because it is not good enough there is no quality and no ability to break teams down at home. The fans under MON used to get on the players backs at home from time to time but they still won a fair amount of games. Why? Because we had better players who had quality in the team not a bunch of lower league nobodies who cant beat teams like Sheffield utd at home ffs

You are right that the support, especially away, has been very good! But I think all the character killings and slating of players at the web, at least when they are young can get in the players head and will not help them to have the confidence you need whatever money you get paid when playing in front of a big crowd. It is simple psychology really, time and time again it is proven in sports that the metal strength and confidence is strongly related to results. Although it is easy to understand because of the really bad play and form, I have trouble understanding how the boos can generate anything positive. It creates a negative atmosphere which will make it more difficult for the manager to keep the spirit up, he could loose a bit of confidence himself which make decisions worse and the negative spiral is spinning down. Last season we also had a really bad spell, even loosing a two legged game to Bradford as we all know, but later in the season the support that stayed managed the team to pick themselves up and actually finish pretty strongly. Thus there are some ability there, but something seem to be missing now, perhaps som quality players I do not know. But certainly all calling for manager to go and Lerner out is not going to produce much of positive results for the club. It is difficult to be an EPL manager focusing on football, but if you always have to be in constant crisis management not much creativeness or excellence will be created like in any other organisation. I want things to improve but have a trouble seeing the negative postings will result in that, my trust in Lambert falters but think it is best to help him doing something good until Lerner decides to change if he decides to do so. Fair play to him in the last Lambert pre Arsenal presser I actually thought he was quite good.

Ted! .. totally agree.. the team is is playing rubbish football .. Lambert has only got us marginally higher than last year. Lerner is not releasing the funds and bringing in the type of players that will get us to compete for a top 4 or even top 6!
Once all us fans stop going to matches/ buying merchandise etc protest whatever we need to do .. i am just thinking a little further but .. what should we protest for once Lambert is gone say? .. who should we protest into the managers position at villa?
in terms of Lerner .. once our message is finally made clear and he has no other option but to sell Villa.
who do we try to get to buy the club and how do we achieve this?
Also how do we keep this secret from the other fans of the other 15 clubs in the premiership who don’t top tier managers or owners willing to spend 50–100m each transfer window. Considering no one else has figured this out yet?
forgive me if i am thinking too far ahead or to relative or comparative to other premier league teams.

TED JAYDEE LANGFORD As i see it no good slating Lerner at every cut and turn we know he is not going to sell the club unless either he is made an offer he cannot refuse or disaster strikes i;e relegation as in my opinion he would not fund the club to try and bring us straight back up.What is interesting however is that he seems to find the funding to bring in a player or two to keep us up in the same way as Sir Deadly did for many years and he knows that the fans in those dark days were content with that as we did not expect anything else.I for one would welcome new ownership of VP as long as they breathed eat drank and slept VILLA as the saying goes. But how many perspective owners are out there in that vain.

there is one way to get your point across with a banner, but you need balls and be able to run and two of you, when villa go a goal down ,on the pitch you go, head for the center have the banner facing the directors box “Lerner out”or what ever ,but do it peacefully ie: no hitting any of the stewards or any think like that as you want the press to say things about the banner not the fans….you will get chucked out you might get your season ticket revoked but as long as no trouble its just a protest and cannot get banned for to long.

Bill Pearson. January 12, 2014 at 9:26 am . Reply

A good suggestion only two things wrong with that, you would be charged with trespass plus incitement to cause trouble. It would then make the club ban you for what ever they deem. I’ve know local papers get banned for just writing detrimental things about the club. Your only way is wait for the directors to leave the club and protest then.
