There’s been very little to write about and the only thing that has been really noticeable for me is that we haven’t moved quickly to bring any players in.
That tells me we had no plan in place to save our position in the Premier league, plain and simple. If we had, we’d have got them in quickly so they can bed in as quickly as possible in my opinion; but we don’t seem to be in any rush at all.
It’s just common sense really, but I’m just putting my view on record. A view that says we’re going down the “we’re already relegated” route. More of which follows further down.
There is an interesting story via the Daily Mail though, that suggests Leeds United, QPR and Derby are all interested in signing Jack Grealish on loan, presumably until the end of the season.
I think this is a great idea, as although it seems Remi Garde is easing the lad back into the squad, I don’t believe he thinks Grealish does enough to warrant a start overall. Which is a stance I totally agree with for what it’s worth.
So given that we’re massive odds on to be relegated, does it make sense to get him in amongst the blood and guts that is the Championship (in the middle of winter, no less) to get him acclimatised beforehand?
I think yes, if he isn’t going to start much in the rest of this season. He’s going to have to get used to it sometime after all, because I very much doubt he’d want to leave the club, as much as things aren’t going his way at the moment.
Which leads me on and takes me back to where I started. We’re now solely concentrated on our next season being in the championship, if the Daily Mirror are to be believed.
The article talks about us aiming solely at championship level free signings, which is all very depressing in itself, but probably not as much so for the everyday people who are inevitably going to have to be sacked/laid off/made redundant or whatever you want to call it.
It’s all quite sad and nothing winds me up more than people being put out of work, but these are the realities of relegation and it’s all very probable.
I suppose there are a couple of plus points in that we may actually be able to sing Gestede’s praises next season, if our moneyballers (if they aren’t sacked too, which they should be imo) can actually find some players to provide the ammo.
And maybe the defence won’t look quite so bad as it does now, although I wouldn’t bank on it. As I said, all quite depressing really, but it’s hard to put a positive spin on anything these days isn’t it?

Bws
Very well put, remi is another yes man for fox, no one has ever replied where has all money gone we are playing in richest league in world with nett spend of lot less than 20 m a season since Lerner took over
Cheers JV it’s a classic piece of misdirection mate.
Hi Villaawayindiv3
Last time in the second division I went to the Bradford v Villa match. One of the best I ever went to – we won 4-2 and if memory serves me right Stuart Grey scored on debut and all our goals came 15 of an hour either side of half time. Plus a man looking like Benny from Crossroads was on one of the terrace roofs!
Sid…….As my name implies I was at both times in Div 3….last one Charlie Aitkin scored to the winner.
But i was on about Bradford Park Avenue who went out of League before then.
Yep JVillan…who nicked all the dough.
I think it would be madness to let Grealish go in any form. Yes, he hasn’t set the world on fire this season, but he’s a talented player and one that can change a game.
There are a handful of players that would star in a Villa team in the championship, and he is one of them.
we are not in the championship yet, will not be very impressed with the club if they don’t try to turn it round, half way through the season and surrendering! suppose its the French influence.
It’s not about letting him go Benno.
It’s just about letting him go out on loan,
The point was that Garde doesn’t seem to rate him enough as an all round player who needs to track back and pull his tripe out. He’ll never be that sort, imo, as it’s not what he’s about.
So to me, it makes sense to send him out to the championship (if he isn’t going to get much playing time for us this season), where he’ll probably do well given the generally lower standard of opposition and it should build his confidence.
Which will be ideal for next season.
Me, I’d look to let him go to Derby.
They play decent footy and he’ll be able to stay at home, away from the bright lights and erm, distractions.
As for those asking about where’s the money, hopefully many will realise that I’ve been consistent in saying I don’t believe the figures for a long time and Lerner’s been milking the club for years.
Which I don’t necessarily have a problem with, as he did put it in originally and is entitled to try and get it back.
But just as he overspent in the early years, so he pulled back too much.
That’s why we are where we are, imo.
Good post Badger. It seems emminently sensible to me for Grealish to spend time playing football regularly and where better than the league we will be playing in next season (no I haven’t given up but we should be honest with ourselves).
Grealish has a lot to learn and he is far from being the ‘wonder kid’ he’s sometimes made out to be. I believe he’s been unsettled by all the media hype about his international future and has got ahead of himself. A few months out of the limelight will be in his and ultimately our best interests.
Finally, I really don’t understand why we are again turning on the manager. What the hell does anyone expect with the players we’ve got at the club? At least Garde had the b**lls to try.
@H60
‘I really don’t understand why we are again turning on the manager…’
Totally agree. I’ve no idea yet whether he’ll make a good manager but he’s come over okay so far and, okay he hasn’t won a game yet, but with the team we’ve got who’s really surprised.
I like that he’s already stated that he’ll stay if we get relegated and I’d like to see him get at least this and next season to see what he can do.
If you want to blame anyone blame Lerner but then again I have the feeling that its just our turn and we should just face the fact with the best grace we can.
Spot on mate
And that Hitchy my friend is precisely why we’re doomed!
Lets look at why Mr Gardi got the job – Fox is going to ask for advice from who?
Is old mate Arsène that’s who and who Arsène going recommend? An out of work fellow Frenchman who he’s worked with in the past but the the problem is Mr Garde as absolutely no experience in English football, we was at the Gooners for three seasons and played a grand total of 31 games so I think we can safely say Mr Wenger had little confidence him as a player.
Did you also know that the powers that be at Villa sent Paddy Reilly out to talk to David Moyes but he allegedly reported back that Moyes wanted too much of a ‘root and branch dissection’ (and by f**k is that needed) but no they don’t want anyone with an opinion that may rock their little boat.
Then Nigel Pearson – our Glorious Leader allegedly labelled him as toxic, why’s that you’d have to ask? Just maybe because he’s a strong character?
In conclusion If Mr Garde is at VP come next Christmas then I will eat my hat.
I didn’t know you wore a hat? BwS , that sounds about right mate, i can imagine that Lerner being lead and not a clue hes being conned, yes go with that, now BWS this is interesting ,Top hat, clothed hat,? or a tin hat? You got to laugh mate its enough to drive you bonkers thinking about it.
Not arguing with you over your sentiments BWS but my question is would they have done any better than Garde and my instinct is no for the very reasons you set out in your post!
A paper hat Bill.
Just watched the BT sport clip. How very, very true. This should be projected onto the side of VP so the club can see what a laughing stock they’ve become. Interesting what they said about the media being banned too. What a bunch of wankers we have running our club. Thank God someone else echo’s what we’ve seen for ages.
Villa Park has always had th a policy of banning media if you make waves Bum Bum, they hate to be criticized and use the belief they are in control. Heaven knows that board of misfits should be ashamed of how they do business. Lerner in my mind doesn’t know sod all of our way and most likely gets wrong information by not being hands on. Hitch spot on mate don’t blame Garde and if truth be known even our last managers, Something rotten to the core at Villa Park the medea knows it so do we, Grealish would most likely learn more by a loan move in our flavour and not to sell.
Most likely stay now traore out for ten weeks!
I knew he sounded too good to be true another crock
First it was the banning of signing decent players, then 40,000 AVFC twitter followers were deleted, now from what I am reading the media have been banned, what next? I understand the General wanting to hide away as being in the Yank forces, judging by the activity over the last 30 years or so, it is what they are trained to do. Either his influence is massive or hiding away from reality is clearly an American trait.
Stubbs Villa fans should be the first to retaliate over things they had done of late, I’d love that bt, and sky pull the money away in support of the fans, the FA to address the ideas of foreign management and owners changing the old tradition of centuries old our invented sport.I know it would never be, but what a kick up the arise us fans are getting off a man that dont give a toss.
Vive la revolution!
That sould be up the arse still arise will do.
Bill it’s been reported Remi Garde has revealed that talks are underway for Arsenal right-back Mathieu Debuchy but I say Play the Debuchy ‘pon the left hand side.
🙂
BWS , you did say paper hat? Play Debuchy on the left hand side, good un mate, you have to laugh. I did.
Hey Bill got t Radio WM’s phone in on and they are are saying Nigel Kennedy’s saying he’s happy for Villa to get relegated so that Randy will have to sell cheap and that it should to British owners.
Who knows he must have some wealthy mates, perhaps plans are afoot?
His heart is Villa I had the honour to meet him years ago, real down to earth fan. Yes I bet he’s pissed off like us and could point the way.
Just maybe there might be a pin prick of light at the end of the tunnel?
Or is that wishful thinking?
Oh dear………..

More good news then – Traore out for 10 weeks!
We’ll be officially relegated by then so who cares.
Another wonderful signing who came with a good reputation .we hardly ever seen him.
Apparently Grealish won’t be loaned, and we’ve so far rejected the option to sign Beauvue from Lyon, as we want Lorient striker, Moukandjo. who has 11 in 19 so far this season.
Would that be Leyton orient???
I reckon we need him. Can’t give up on staying up until it’s mathematically impossible (lol). Get him as much PL experience as possible, as it will make him a better player when he ends up playing in the Championship with us!
If Kennedy took over nothing will change…Sir Randolf has been FIDDLING the books for years.
Ho ho – very droll 🙂
Yes but to the TUNE of how much?
I know one thing …its been going on longer than 4 seasons……..
Ha ha ha, brilliant.
