Bristol City 1 – 1 Villa: Not good enough.

I watched this, but actually managed to miss our goal and the highlights of it, somehow; go figure.

Either way, it doesn’t matter.
Why we started with Samba in a back three against a well known lively Bristol attack, is totally beyond me and you have to call Bruce’s tatcics out here.

The disaster was corrected after about 20 mins, but it put us on the back foot from the off.

The simple question is, who looked the better side today?
It wasn’t us, by a long chalk, in my opinion and while we came back into it later on, we never deserved to win that game.

And While Bristol won’t be challenging for the league title, on that showing, they’ll finish higher than us.

And that isn’t good enough!

They had shape and more importantly, a plan.
Whereas we seemed devoid.

Big shout out to those who were there, as they deserved a lot better than what they got.

Cor it’s really kicking off on here, come on boys play nice.

Back to footballing matters, if we sign Peter Crouch i’m done, that would be the most pointless signing i can possibly think of, when Rashford broke thought at Utd, they played him whenever possible, why would we hamper Davis’ progress, i’m sure Agent Bruce is trying to dick us over.

I think that Jedinak and Whelan both needed in midfield our midfield has been too lightweight since 2011. They’ll make sure we have lots of the ball for the forward players to exploit .

It’s not so much it was lightweight as it just wasn’t good, and that was because we never had an out and out defensive midfielder. You only need one in the team, alongside a player that will work hard but can push the ball forward. Hourihane, O’Hare, Doyle, someone of that nature. Then the attacking mid behind the forward.

I sort of agree but we are very flimsy in midfield and I wonder with Bruce whether he’ll always play Whelan as he seems to like him despite his indifferent start. Jedinak will always play. He’s the real captain and leader of the team. Onomah played well in a central role against Colchester He could play with Jedinak and Hourihane in midfield. At home you are right, we shouldn’t need two defensive Mids. But away where we are terrible I reckon Jedinak and Whelan might just start together regularly. Good that Bruce has options. Could be Elmo and Snodgrass on the right and Taylor and Green on the left for a while as well.

Think you’re being a little harsh on Chester, JVillan. He’s not the best but he’s more than adequate for a lower-end Premier League side, let alone the Championship. We have to face it, until we make changes overall to the entire club, we’re going to be going for the experienced Premier League/Championship players, whether they’re good enough or not.

The signings we’ve made are so lazy, where is this so called scouting network with Steve Round and co. What scouting do you need to sign John Terry, Samba or Snodgrass. Its just Bruce and the old boys club again.
Have to say its depressing and hard to stomach watching West Brom signing top class international players like Krychowiak while we’ve got Glenn Whelan. Just hits home as to how far this club has fallen over the past decade. The journey back is an absolutely mammoth one and it emphasises the need for a better manager and coaching staff to pull us out of the deep hole we are hovering over.

            look at
bournmouth making 25m twenty five million pound bids
swansea signing lad from bayern munich
            west brom you mentioned
we are reduced to 36 year john terry on a free, giving hutton new contract

Been claiming that since we signed Bruce, that we’d be going for solely British-based players that he knew. Which makes him a mediocre at best manager. It’s not even about how much he spends (and we all know he’s spent a hell of a lot, between transfers in January and especially on wages), but it’s on who he signs.

by time chester gets back to pl if with us,he will 29 ,2 years out of pl so cant really see how he will be fit to pick up pace again, seen somewhere to day blues top wage earner on about 10 thousand a week ,snodgrass, jedi lainsby all on over 40 thousand a week here never mind elmo whelan terry and rest of new signings

I think Chester could last a season or two in the Prem. As I said, he’s a lower-end of the Premier league defender. But he can hang.

I know, our wage bill hasn’t gotten smaller, it’s drastically getting bigger, which our fans don’t get also plays into FFP. FFP is everything, transfer fees, wages, utilities, etc, etc, etc. We’ve wasted a lot of money this summer on wages for crap players, and even in January on Lansbury, I completely agree.

chester and if he would play bree are probably 2 of our only defenders that i would keep if we got promoted

Still think the team can make playoffs but that’s it. If we can sneak back up we’ll be able to sign better players. Bruce under loads of pressure though.

A few games from now I expect Bruce will be just another ex-Villa manager. That’s what I thought before day 1 and I don’t see any reason to change my mind.

Right or Wrong? What do YOU think?
