Christian Benteke’s agent has spoken out today and said that Benteke’s future will be decided after the World Cup. The Benteke’s transfer saga looks likely to continue for the second summer in a row. Benteke did sign a new 4-year deal last summer but that was only after he handed in a transfer request.
It’s believed that if Benteke has a very good World Cup, Villa will have a real struggle in holding onto their key player. But the same can be said if he fails to feature at all, Benteke may decide that he needs to move in order to break into the Belgium team. The best case scenario for Aston Villa is for Benteke to play a handful of games but never impress to the extent that would see the likes of Liverpool, Atletico and AC Milan interested.
“He wants to get ready for the World Cup. For the future, there is time. Currently it is too early to talk about it.” – Eric Kismet
This season he has failed to achieve the same standard that was set from last season. So far Benteke has scored 10 goals in the Premier League, that 9 short of last years tally. I’m still hopeful that Benteke will stay, and honestly I think he will, but fans will certainly go through another transfer saga. But I’m sure that we’ve all gotten used to them by now!
