Terry Jones asks the following;
So, it’s the Baggies up next and Christian Benteke, according to the Evening Mail has picked up an injury on international duty.
So who is good enough to take his place? Bowery, Kozak or Helenius?
We are already without Wiemann and Gabby and for the life of me I can’t see any of those three being anywhere near good enough, especially if CB is going to be out long term.
I’ve had a little more hope of late as the win at home to Cardiff and a clean sheet to boot was heartwarming.
But without CB, Gabby and Andy can anyone see the three I have mentioned winning us games?
No doubt tactics will have to be changed to suit, so any progress made is going to be lost.
I would like to think that it’s not, but we all know our midfield does not have any goals in them.
So what are the predictions for the Baggies, Sunderland and Southampton games?
A draw at the Baggies will do for me. Sunderland however, that’s nothing less than a win, whereas Southampton, now that’s a difficult one to predict, knowing what happened last season and they have massively improved. So I will go for a draw as long as we are back to full strength.
Please, let’s have your thoughts on this as I will be out of the country for the next three games. I have joined a winter fishing league in Belgium and will be partaking in contests for the next couple of months.
I’ll keep in touch though.
I’d take five points. Could easily be four with a loss to Southampton.
Things may have changed since yesterday’s articles on Benteke, but I thought the Belgian camp said he would be fit enough for Monday? I haven’t read anything about Gabby or Weimann yet, but I’m predicting one of them will be fit for the Baggies game as well. I know Gabby will want to play in this match regardless.
Nevertheless, if Benteke is rested I would say it’s a pretty safe bet Kozak will start. Although if Gabby is fit I think his pace and Kozak’s height could be a real threat. My main worry though is Wiemann. I love the player he’s becoming, but his form this season has just been awful. I would be gutted if he was immediately thrown back into the team, especially after the Cardiff game where Bacuna and Lowton really shined in the second half.
Baggies – Draw
Sunderland – Win
Southampton – Draw
It should be said Southampton, while they have been great this season, have had a pretty average fixture list up until now. They’ve only played two of the ‘top’ teams so far, a win against Liverpool and a draw against an out of form Man Utd. There upcoming fixtures are – Arsenal, Chelsea, Aston Villa, Man City, Newcastle, Tottenham. I just hope they enjoy 3rd while they have it…
Bowery and Kozak up front, now that’s a worrying thought!
I thought Gabby and Weimann were supposed to be fit for this game. Nothing wrong with those two up front. Personally, I hope we switch to more of a 4 4 2 anyway
If we win, draw and lose the same amount (W9 D9 L9) we get 50 points. That’s a good target.
So 4 points. Anything less, not great. Anything more, bonus.
