I’d take him in a heartbeat. He’s clearly the best left back we’ve entertained since Wilf.

Spot on we the villa pr machine is shameless spouted out false ambition just to sell STs. Can’t believe 20,000 people fall for it. Probably the same people that that do rip of phone ins and vote on X factor etc

Ah yes, Bertrand, that big name signing Villa fans want that will get 10,000 more Villa fans buying ST’s. Bertrand might get like… 5 more people to buy ST’s if Villa fans are only buying them based on who we buy this summer. He’s not some big name player that’s going to go… “OH MY GOD, MUST GO TO VILLA PARK, HE’S SO GOOD”.

Plus, 20,000 people are falling for what? You really think they’re buying ST’s based off media rumours anyone can make up? You also might want to consider that other media outlets from other Countries are the ones starting the links because they know we’ve had scouts at their games. Unless Lerner’s in Italy telling Sky Italia to link us to Konate or Faulkner’s in Bordeaux telling a Bordeaux-based journalist to tweet we have Scouts at their Lyon-Bordeaux game, it’s not a PR stunt.

You can’t also blame the players for the mess, why would they pass up the chance to move to a historically big club with a large following so why would fans not buy season tickets as it’d only hurt the players. Financially its not going to hurt Lerner.

It won’t hurt the players not buying STs as sky money pays for most of that. We still got 20k when we got mcleish and we will get at least that again. How anyone can buy a st to watch the most shitiest squad iv ever seen at home is beyond me. And benteke will be of as well.

Of course it would. Imagine playing in a stadium that can fill 40k+ and only seeing around 10k in it. That only hurts the players. Of course its not hurting the players financially, but morally?

Not even morally players are professionals and should put in their best every game regardless of the crowd. The team and the club are a shower of shite and I for one will not set foot in vp until things change dramatically. Though I will still go away simply as we are better to watch away.

I don’t buy my season ticket based on who we will buy or rumours! For some strange reason like so many other people I buy a season ticket because I support Aston Villa regardless……

Just a question Coe 81, So you don’t believe Aston Villa’s PR machine spins stories and drops the Media little bits of information when its season ticket buying time, then shuts up shop and as soon as the shit hits the fan, only allows interviews with the chosen Media who will never ask anything that challenges the Club… The important part of the club (the Fans) can never get the true focus of where the club are heading……. But you will buy your season ticket regardless ???? The Club is a business which rely’s on being in the Premiership, but flirts with relegation each year and treats its customers (us fans) with contempt….
Just my view mate, but personally think a large number of fans will start to get pissed off like some people including myself on here and its hard to get a new fan base as most of the young kids want to support the top4 or Barcelona…… I think they are treading a very perilous path….. but if every fan is as committed as you, Randy doesn’t have to worry too much !!!

Fair enough but a lot if fans are not like that. If we signed messi at least another 10,000 STs would be sold. I feel sorry for u wasting your hard earned watching another season if shite next season. No wonder Lerner takes the piss. But it is your right to do so so I respect that

Of course if Messi signs, the stadium would be filled every single game. For just about any club. However we’re not linked to anyone close to Messi’s ability. You’re claiming fans are buying ST’s for the players VILLA are linked too. The players Villa are linked too, only fans who know of football outside the EPL would know who these foreign players are as they’re not big names so 95% of ST buyers are not going to buy tickets off who we’re linked too.

It’s not the point why should 20,000 fans spend their hard earned on watching a team that can’t entertain in anyway whatsoever. Forget the results we play boring negative football. Exactky the sane as mclown. Yet lambert is allowed to get away with it. Under Lerner and lamberk Wev had the most unwanted records in iur history. It’s scandalous they are allowed to get away with it.

Not true. Walker was seen as a quick fix by Houllier who were scouting other RB’s as we had no chance at getting him. Spurs aren’t even close to Chelsea in pulling power, Chelsea can go out and sign any LB bar Alaba, Alba and Marcelo (unless Madrid want rid), Spurs can’t do that. So Spurs weren’t going to sell him to us, Chelsea on the other hand have another LB out on loan who’s better than Bertrand is, and it being Mourinho, will no doubt as per usual spend a ton of money, 1 being for a LB.

I’m with COE81 on this one.

I enjoy the day out and social each match, I don’t wait to see which foreign unknown we are linked with before deciding to renew or not.

Do I think that I’m being treated with contempt by the club ? Not particularly.

Back to the post, I’d like us to get him if we can, a decent player.

its a no brainer as far as we are concerned in my opinion, as long as Bertrand is genuinely up for it then its a good move, id have thought though being a Chelsea player his wage bracket would be out of our or should I say the ‘learner/lambert remit’. temp is understandable we may break that but long term? obviously im not sure what his wages are but im sure that they are at least double that of Bennett and Luna.
also im very concerned about the wording of the article,

‘Paul Lambert has been impressed by Ryan Bertrand’s recent performances for Aston Villa and is “VERY LIKELY” to make an offer for the Chelsea left back this summer.’

don’t know what your source is for this adam but the words ‘very likely’ are very non committal and don’t mean much.

I like bertrand and hope we sign him. On another note john Terry gets a lot of stick at Villa and I am one of those who dishes it out. Tom will be different I understand that JT is very good friends with Stan Petrov. He was also very suppoerive to him throughout his illness and so I will hold me hands up and say Any friend of Stans is a friend of mine

Listen to ya “20000 people fall for it” maybe these people aren’t as naive as you say and just happen to, whatever’s served up, go and support their team, to mingle with other fan’s and spend their afternoons watching the villa instead of sitting on their setee posting about it…..????
