Aston Villa have collected more points than any other team from losing positions this season, and yesterday’s game has added another point to that statistics. It’s something that fans should be proud of and more importantly, the players. It shows how much fighting spirit Villa posses this season. Aston Villa have come from behind to beat Arsenal, Manchester City and most recently West Brom. These comebacks give me hope as a supporter in many games. When I see Villa concede I often have that ‘that’s it, game over’ attitude, but now, I’m slowly converting to a ‘alright boys, lets get something’ attitude.
Most of the comebacks have been in the second halve, so Lambert must be doing something right during half time. I know many aren’t a fan of Lambert and his tactics, but you must give him credit in motivating his players. What I especially loved during West Brom’s game was the impact of our three substitutes, Weimann, Delph and Agbonlahor. Their involvement gave fans so much energy, belief. This is what I want to see Lambert doing more often, changing the dynamic of the game if we’re losing.
Obviously it would be ideal if Villa could put together two quality halves, we haven’t seen too much of this and I’d like Lambert to work on that. Still, Lambert is doing something right. He does bring belief to his players, and especially during half-time. I’d like to see more of this, because comebacks like these will make Villa a top 10 team this season.
