Aston Villa are set to sign Swansea midfielder Ki Sung-Yeung. Paul Lambert has stepped up his efforts to sign a new holding midfielder and Ki will be Aston Villa’s first cash signing of the transfer window. Ki spoke to Paul Lambert over the weekend and will most likely be the 4th addition to Aston Villa.
Paul Lambert has asked Randy Lerner to offer Ron Vlaar a new contract. Vlaar has had an excellent World Cup campaign and there are clubs interested in his services so it’s important for the club that he stays on. In general, following the signing of Ki, Lambert will switch his attention temporarily on handing out new contracts to Vlaar, Delph and Agbonlahor.
Vlaar has been linked with moves away from Aston Villa, while Newcastle have made a £5 million bid for Delph.
Signing Ki would be a fantastic move. Failed to impress in his first season in Swansea but massively improved at Sunderland. He can hold on to the ball very well and offers more creativity than Westwood, Delph and El Ahmadi. Ki would be, so far our best signing should this move go through.
