Aston Villa and Liverpool Agree Deal for Benteke

Talksport has published an article claiming that Aston Villa and Liverpool have reached an agreement over the transfer of Christian Benteke. Yesterday it was rumoured that Benteke would prefer to move to Liverpool over Tottenham.

“My understanding is Christian Benteke, who has been on their radar for some time, is very close indeed to signing for Liverpool.

“I expect him to sign if not today then certainly in the not too distant future. Liverpool have done their work and have sealed a deal [with Aston Villa].” – Anfield insider Graham Beecroft

There has been no mention regarding what kind of fee has been agreed, whether or not Liverpool have matched Benteke’s buyout clause or if Aston Villa have agreed on a player plus cash agreement. There will probably be more news on the subject in the next 48 hours but this will probably mark an end of an era with Benteke. Benteke will definitely go into Villa’s history books as one of our best ever strikers and if Liverpool did match Benteke’s buyout clause he would also become our biggest ever sale as a football club.

Whilst you write this, other insiders claim there’s no deal and the rumour is false……..

But but but talksport said …
Ya let’s not shoot the messenger either. Worth posting it adam.
If and when we do sell benteke this summer. With that money, I think we should pursue loic remy now
I know everything all the time though

I’d take Remy in a heart beat.

Too right – better than Benteke, imo.

I think that there is definitely something going on. I could be wrong with the timing of the transfer but I think there has been more dialogue between Villa and Liverpool.

I guess we’ll find out in a couple of hours if this is true or not

  2. If this story carries any weight it’ll be cash plus player deal, Ricky Lambert anyone??LOL

Fine, if he’s going get it done quick and then reinvest in the team – none of this last day bo***cks with either no time to spend the receipts or, worse a last minute over priced and poor panic buy.

Good Call H60, if he wants to go, get rid quickly and at the right price for the Club and lets get spending !

  4. If true, then Villa have screwed up again by:
    1. Not getting the full amount
    2. Not signing a replacement before selling

Why do the club remain silent on Benteke and Delph? We are both fans and customers and we have a right to know what we are spending our money on IMO

but thats just the point Langford we have no right at all sadly and the fact is why keep a player that does not want to be here just sell up and move on the club is bigger than the players so fuck em

I’d probably be in a minority here but I wouldn’t mind getting Borini, it just hasn’t worked for him at Liverpool and I thought he did very well at Sunderland, maybe he could do the same for us.

If Borini was involved in a deal, we’d be letting one striker go, bringing one in, as well as getting some money to spend on another striker as well as other targets.

  6. they are silent because there is nothing going, on its the press trying to generate story’s, they need a feeding frenzy in order to sell papers/advertising space it wouldn’t surprise me if Liverpool aren’t interested in benteke at all. when i see him holding a shirt up and saying this is the team i dreamed about playing for all my life i will believe it.

Word on Twitter is we’ve also made a 9 million bid for Lille’s Idrissa Gueye. Although I can’t see this one happening, as Marseille were supposedly closing in on a deal for the player Monday.

They were but they haven’t sold Imbula yet so don’t have the money. 4 Premier League sides including us have made bids.

        Imbula signed for Porto today.

Some people saying they don’t know what this move would mean for Delph though? Two completely different midfielders in my opinion, a move for Gueye would hang a doubt over Sanchez’s future, rather than Delph’s.

        1. Andrew avatar

Think he’s more a replacement for Cleverley if anything.

agee 100% spot on Ifiruledtheworld if they dont want to play for the club fuck em off they will soon be yesterdays news anyway move on not sure that Borini is prolific enough though

  9. If they manage to off load both/either borini & Lambert to us in return for benteke the scousers will be laffing their bollox off how gullible we are.no fucking thanks

  10. If Benteke is going, this is what worries me more than anything:
    a. If Randy is still the owner, he will pocket most of the fee received….I am convinced of that!
b…..If prospective new owners have sanctioned the deal (if indeed they are allowed to do that) what sort of message does that send out to us with regards to their ambitions?

    1. johnnyuk avatar

A deal isn’t struck until the deal is signed – if they’re at the point of signing, they’ll have full say in any huge financial commitments on the business or they pull the plug – easy. Needless to say, if Benteke goes and we’re about to sign a new owner, then there’s no chance Lerner could pocket the cash or the deal would just spin. Their due diligence and value of offer would include Benteke’s worth.

  12. Seeing is believing in my book, still waiting from the staff being called in, also fucking Hard Rock new buyers, all a load of bollocks, full stop. your right about one thing IF THEY WANT TO GO FUCK THEM OFF, Aston Villa is the poor footballers club, and the shite owners put us in that league.

  13. Benteke pic now removed from kit unveiling feature on OS …..ominous!

Happy this is almost done. Hope it’s true, the lad is quality but has no loyalty to us and showed that on the pitch far too often. I personally thank him for all he did and the goals he got us but we’ll be better without him.

Thinks he’s bigger than he actually is.

Look on the bright side, The Beast probably thinks Anfield is somewhere near London and with Brendan Rogers coaching him, he won’t score more than 10 next season.

Didn’t he claim to want Champs League footy tho?

  19. Maybe he wants to join a club that’s got ambitions, the total opposite where he presently is.

Slightly off topic. Prepare for a farcical season of player errors in the EPL in floodlit matches, by many players with dark eye colour. Nike can and do screw anything – Ask Rory McIlroy – but the new EPL ball is 50% red. This may make it difficult to spot in the background of lights, particularly for players with dark irises, e.g. those who can do without sunglasses. Cricket, not being run by the insane, does not play floodlit matches with a red ball.

In non-made up news by Talksport news, Tjarron Chery missed first day of training with Groningen and expects Villa to meet their asking price.

    1. Darren avatar

I personally think this guy could end a great signing. Groningen fans are upset he is leaving. He was in the top 5 for involvements in goals in the eredevise last season and apparently has that killer unlocking defence pass we don’t have. And a great free kick. I’ve read he would of been in the Dutch international setup a long time ago but has been too lightweight until he bulked up in the last year or two. Could be the perfect time to buy in my opinion.

      1. Darren avatar

And yes you are right Andrew. He has not returned for pre season training.

Not bothered about Delph leaving tbh I really don’t rate him though he is better than the other shit midfielders we’ve got

  22. Andrew avatar

According to Swedish Newspaper Expressen, we’ve made a bid for FC Copenhagen Left Back, Ludwig Augustinsson.

  23. Lol…dont tell me..we’ve bid £1.3 mil and refuse to go to £1.6 mil (the asking price).

My lifelong club is now making feel so embarrassed! More cheap, unproven rubbish no doubt!

  24. Andrew avatar

Kinda sad you feel embarrassed by this. Actually pretty highly rated, Liverpool target in fact. 21, already a Swedish international. Players gotta start from somewhere, no? But then you’d rather us pay what, 8m for a crap Premier League Left Back?

    1. Andrew avatar

Just won the U-21 Euros too, probably where we scouted him.

      1. In case you missed my post earlier, I will repeat it here!

10 reasons why buying cheap or taking players for free RARELY works
        Senderos
        Cole
        Tonev
        Sylla
        Bennett
        Stevens
        Helenius
        Bowery
        Lowton
        Westwood
NOT one of the above would get regular gametime in a top 10 PL team. I repeat, our supposed transfer targets are embarrassing and not befitting of a club the size of Villa!

        1. Andrew avatar

I saw your post, in fact commented on it.

        2. Darren avatar

That shows nothing about whether you can or can’t buy stars for cheap. Fact is, you can. And you can build an entire club on it.

All that shows is we did a crap job of it, which no one is arguing. Whether that was bad scouting or purely down to Lambert I don’t know.

        3. I don’t agree about Westwood

  25. Quantity not quality it’s now becoming a reoccurring nightmare.

    1. Giddy…exactly mate. Its just like Lambert’s 2nd season all over again.

Randy does not seem to have learned his lesson!

      1. MATE we won’t get away with it next season that’s for sure Lerner don’t give a fuck he won’t more than likely be here someone else’s problem
