Aston Villa 1 -2 Sheffield utd; Didn’t go, so can’t comment, but…

As above, I didn’t go, so please don’t bother asking why I’m commenting if I didn’t see the game.
No, these are more general comments based on what I heard on the 5live extra commentary.

This is the FA cup and this sort of result is what makes the tournament so magical for me.
A struggling league one side can overcome teams at a higher level with a fluke result, which is not only magical in itself, but more importantly these days, leads to another chance to put some bonus money in the pot.

Only, from what I heard, this was by no means a fluke result.
Comments included “really struggled”, “Sheffield by far the better side”, “outplayed” and the usual “can’t break them down”.

Never mind, Lambert made it plain he didn’t give a toss about the FA cup and called it a “distraction”.
Hence he’s no doubt happy.

Only, he obviously won’t be.
Despite his comments, he played a strong eleven, so I can only assume he was expecting us to have enough to win this one.
I wonder if the penny might have dropped now? Indeed, if Lerner gets to watch the game, I wonder if the penny will drop with him too?

I can live with a fluke loss at home to a league one side in the FA cup, don’t get me wrong.
It happens.
But it was telling that there was only one commentor who actually predicted a win for us in the preview article.
The truth is, that’s what we’re down too at the moment.
I mean, who would bet against a Boldmere second X1 beating us at home, the way things stand at the minute?

The worst thing for me is that I’m not actually surprised that we lost today.
As opposed to the poor mugs who attended.
It sounded to me that they had finally lost their patience today, but I’ll leave it for someone who went to comment on that.

I still refuse to call for Lambert’s head, as it won’t happen.
But something has to change.

  1. It was two league one standard teams having a game in frount of 24,000 people it was always going to be close but the best team won. This villa squad would struggle to get promotion from league one so i dont see today as a shock, i was expecting it. However Lambert is a disgrace and fans who support him should be ashamed. they are supporting a man who has no respect for us or the clubs history. II am a season ticket holder who will be throwing his season ticket away and staying away from Villa park i cant take watching lambert destroy our club.

  2. Badger123 cannot believe your not calling for his head? Anyone would be better than that twat, even I would do better, the man has no idea of the English football game, everyone sees his mistakes he makes, at interviews he mumbles his excuse, the man is totally inept of the game of football.

    1. Bill pearson for manager you get my vote mate & yes you would easily do a better job than that 4eyed clueless arsehole.

Sir oohahpaulmcrath for manager. Lamberk out

      1. Nah mate you’d be another arsene whinger. 😉

  3. I gave my ST away after the Sunderland game. Not so much the results, but the dire football.
Will my grandkid who has my ST report me to Social Services for cruelty? 🙂 slightly tongue in cheap, but only slightly!
Fuck off Lerner, the Villa is OURS

    1. * tongue in cheek *

I’m amazed you gave it away and you wernt charged for him having to take it of you 🙁

Bill, it’s pointless, as Lerner will not sack Lambert without any mass protest and I’m not seeing it or even hearing of it down the ground.

In the meantime, I’ve added a very apt song to the article.
Read into that what you will.

    1. Badger can’t catch the words its something very cheap, or better change? Go for change

      1. Badger123 avatar
        Badger123

        Something better change Bill.

  5. And in addition if you think about it if Lambert has no interest in being in the cups he is effectivley saying he wants you to turn up every week and pay to watch them in the knowledge we have 0% chance of EVER winning anything. What a way to treat your paying customers it is a disgrace.

  6. Markham avatar

Lambert out that was pathetic ! I’m not wasting anymore time & money on the club ! Season ticket in the bin .

    1. Done!!! The worrying thing was, that’s what we knew would happen. ST. Anyone in the Lower holte please take it.

If you pay me a million quid to take it of your hands il think about it lol

  7. Worse than billy mcneil ,this edit has to go and no i cant stomach a fluke result against a league one side like i couldnt stomach losing to fuckin bradford last season ,two shit teams who we should be pissing all over .Fuckin get rid of this mumbling clueless twat before he signs more piss poor shite players this month .How the fuck we are eleventh is a massive fluke.

Hi little 8 please don’t use the C word mate thanks. Oohahpaulmcgrath

  8. Told the lamberk fan club on here time and time again what a mumbling farce of a manager he was, an embarrassment of the highest order. On a side note, Solskjaer wins his first game away at Newcastle yet the same experts on here told me he was “shite”.
Foreign manager in ASAP, get the useless oaf out now

    1. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
      OohAhPaulMcGrath

Internet rumours that lamberks been fighting with players down the tunnel what next ffs!!

      1. Really? Wouldn’t surprise me, he’d stooped to every other low anyway. What an absolute disgrace of a manager and man he is.

      2. Badger123 avatar
        Badger123

Oohah, if that’s true, it’s only a matter of time.
Culverhouse’ swearing at the fans last week and now this?

Whatever we think of Lerner, he likes the way we British do things the “right way” and I believe this could be enough to push him over the edge.

Whose players was he fighting with though?

        1. I really do believe he’s lost the players belief in him.i think it’s showing.

      3. Oohaah, Sir I extend my humble apologies I’ve been on you case the past few days, you were right I was wrong, he’s gotta go.

          1. I foolishly thought that Sunderland would be a turning point but as they say you can’t polish a turd.

  9. saddened avatar

Lambert is so deluded he thinks the Villa are bigger than the Fa Cup, so its no cup runs and simply trying to avoid relegation each season, there is no point attending the Villa again until this bolshy, mumbling, big headed toss pot is removed….
Today was not just a piss take for the fans who paid good money travelling to and attending the game, but also against the poorer clubs that try to win a game in the FA Cup purely to gain financial security for another season… LAMBERT OUT

  10. Villan1 avatar

So the shit league 1 players lamberk bought couldn’t even beat league 1 opposition, says it all.
This club will be rotting away until lamberk is removed, the home record is disgusting

  11. Good tune shame about the score.

Can’t understand how what look to be a half decent bunch of players are so inept as a group.

Benteke would have had a hattrick in this game last season, looks a pale imitation of that player.

    1. COE1982 avatar

One season wonder Benteke I’m afraid, said it last season that he reminded me of papa cisse for Newcastle when he arrived. He was on fire the first season and has been shite ever since, as will Benteke….Lambert out.

      1. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
        OohAhPaulMcGrath

I did say he was the new Heskey when he arrived. Heskey was great at Leicester then died a death.

  12. IanRobo avatar

not sure what to say …

Well my little un loved it but not many others did …

Vaze on Benteke to me he looked unfit/could not be arsed take your pick and you know what

    I DO NOT BLAME HIM

He is playing for a manager with no other plan and with team mates like Luna who I think is the worse ever player I have seen at VP, that takes some.

No Lambert out for me, the cause is not him.

    1. Badger123 avatar
      Badger123

Ian, what’s your thoughts on the crowd wanting him out?
As I said, I’ve certainly not seen it in the back of the Holte.

      1. IanRobo avatar

nope, not Lambert out at all in K4 …

Just total resignation and thats worse

        1. Badger123 avatar
          Badger123

Cheers, that’s how I see things too and as long as it stays like that, I won’t be calling for his head.
If the rumours I’m seeing are true though, things might change.

          1. IanRobo avatar

            what rumours ??

      1. I heard the ripping up tickets and throwing them at Lambert on WM but were’s this Lambert fighting with the players thing come from? Not that I doubt it, the goal celebration at Sunderland when they sorta blanked him was odd to say the least.

  14. Morgan Villa avatar
    Morgan Villa

Fans tearing up tickets and throwing them at Lambert, and rumours of a bust up with players. If Lambert stays i am confident we will be relegated

    1. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
      OohAhPaulMcGrath

If he’s lost the dressing room then that’s it he’s off

  15. If we go down now won’t lambert look an even bigger clown.

    1. He can’t be a bigger clown, he was an inept moron from day 1, a point I made to all Villa fans yet was slagged off continually.
Thats now 3 lower league sides we’ve lost to, any chairman with ambition would have sent lamberk packing, actually they’d never had appointed a dour useless oaf like him in the first place. I’d rather AVFC die than watch another game under Lamberk

  16. It’s no good dwelling on it, it’s gone. We’ll pick ourselves up and go again.

    1. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
      OohAhPaulMcGrath

Almost as bad as dol they’re an honest bunch of lads lol

      1. Dont worry, Randy has given me 2.5 million to buy 3 experienced players so ‘we will be fine’

  17. So pissed off with it all, Lambert has to go. Know a few Sheff Utd fans and the all said as long as we pass the ball we’d win. So what did we do, spent the whole game hoofing it aimlessly. What a joke. The Sheff Utd defenders like Maguire are comfortable handling long balls all day long, this is school boy tactics, a kid would know that.
Lambert is simply horrendous from a tactical point of view, his signings are awful and I can’t see his dour tone motivating anyone. Why the hell is he still in a job? Answer please Randy Lerner.

Ian, nothing private, I’m on about the rumoured Lambert bust up with players in the tunnel.
Fan’s throwing STs at him would help back up any case.

    1. IanRobo avatar

I have not seen any comment on that TBH … depends where the source is

      1. IanRobo avatar

OK asked on twitter and some kid, ignore it.

          Ah, ok, cheers.

  19. I decided to go as the wife was cleaning up after Xmas, wish I had stayed at home. My ST is the lower DE stand and believe me 90% of them want Lambert out, and also today they were saying they are not renewing next season if Lambert is there.

I now want him gone the project is going nowhere but down

    1. Badger123 avatar
      Badger123

      Duly noted VTID, cheers.
Better confirmation of Lambert fighting with players and as the song in the article suggests, I might just “change my tune”.

  20. “You couldn’t fault the lads effort and endeavour”
That’s original Mr lambert well makes a change from ‘effort’.

  21. Badger123 avatar
    Badger123

Lambert told reporters after the game: “We lost a poor first goal but we got back in to it with a really good equaliser”

Which is interesting, as the commentary said ours was a typical League 1 goal.
    Hmm.

    1. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
      OohAhPaulMcGrath

It’s no problem badger the lads will pick themselves up and go again. 🙂

  22. A WEEK IN THE LIFE OF PAUL LAMBERT.

Monday……takes 2 training sessions where the main focus is on long balls. Each defender is given a ball and are shown a target that is 70 yards away. The first 4 defensive players to hit the target will be in the team for Saturdays premier league game. Brad Guzan is concentrating on distribution where distance is also worked on. Currently his goal kicks are only travelling 82 yards!! The midfielders are doing as they please but are encouraged not to pass the ball forward. The first 3 players to pass the ball sideways or backwards will be the midfield for Saturdays premier league game, apart from Westwood, Delph and El Ahmadi whose names are already on the team sheet. The forwards are playing connect 4 where the 3 who win there first game will be in the team for Saturdays premier league game, except for Benteke, Weimann and Gabby who all haven’t scored for 8 weeks and clearly need to be given time to show what they can do.

Tuesday…..Lambert spends the day with a speech therapist whilst the players are told to watch Billy Connelly and Rab C Nesbit DVD’S in a bid to get them to understand what lambert is saying.

Wednesday…….the lads are given the day off and are told to report for light training on Thursday.

Thursday……the players turn up for training where the defenders are practising catching crosses, the forwards are practising sliding tackles, the midfield are practising passing sideways and Guzan is practising distance and distribution. By the end of training his goal kicks are reaching 94 yards.

Friday. The hardest training session of the week. Before training Lambert names an 18 man squad, despite the players efforts earlier in the week they struggle to hear what Lambert is saying so are non the wiser as to if they’re in the squad or not. Lambert selects 2 teams of 9 and gets a game of murderball underway. The game lasts 2 hours and goes exactly how lambert had hoped. 8 squad players all suffer serious injuries meaning Lambert is down to the bere bones and the team literally picks itself.

Saturday…..MATCHDAY…….it’s a disaster, Villa are beaten 1-5 at home to West Ham but Lambert remains upbeat and and can’t fault the players for effort. He has a special mention for sub Bacuna, who’s deflected freekick gives Villa a 4th minute lead. “He does it in training everyday” says Lambert, who refuses to be drawn into discussions that Villa are in a relegation battle, “the lads will be fine, we’ll pick ourselves up and go again.

    SUNDAY…..day off.

B6 your post would be really funny if it wasn’t so near the knuckle. Love the rab c Nesbit lol

  23. Get PL out he’s brought the club down to a level he is comfortable managing at…Bring in Harry…..
Lerner I suggest you start socialising the sale of the club with people who take a genuine interest!

  24. Irony of the day…Wes Hoolahan left out of Norwich squad so that he wouldnt be cup tied erm!

    1. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar

      That’s quite funny lol

    2. Brilliant just brilliant I do rate Wes though

  25. Think I’ll go down in the morning and get a new shirt with Hoolahan on. L f.

    1. I’ve already got one….Dwight Yorke should pull his boots back on….I’ve still got his shirt too back when it meant something…
