Aston Villa 1 -2 Sheffield utd; Didn’t go, so can’t comment, but…

As above, I didn’t go, so please don’t bother asking why I’m commenting if I didn’t see the game.
No, these are more general comments based on what I heard on the 5live extra commentary.

This is the FA cup and this sort of result is what makes the tournament so magical for me.
A struggling league one side can overcome teams at a higher level with a fluke result, which is not only magical in itself, but more importantly these days, leads to another chance to put some bonus money in the pot.

Only, from what I heard, this was by no means a fluke result.
Comments included “really struggled”, “Sheffield by far the better side”, “outplayed” and the usual “can’t break them down”.

Never mind, Lambert made it plain he didn’t give a toss about the FA cup and called it a “distraction”.
Hence he’s no doubt happy.

Only, he obviously won’t be.
Despite his comments, he played a strong eleven, so I can only assume he was expecting us to have enough to win this one.
I wonder if the penny might have dropped now? Indeed, if Lerner gets to watch the game, I wonder if the penny will drop with him too?

I can live with a fluke loss at home to a league one side in the FA cup, don’t get me wrong.
It happens.
But it was telling that there was only one commentor who actually predicted a win for us in the preview article.
The truth is, that’s what we’re down too at the moment.
I mean, who would bet against a Boldmere second X1 beating us at home, the way things stand at the minute?

The worst thing for me is that I’m not actually surprised that we lost today.
As opposed to the poor mugs who attended.
It sounded to me that they had finally lost their patience today, but I’ll leave it for someone who went to comment on that.

I still refuse to call for Lambert’s head, as it won’t happen.
But something has to change.

A WEEK IN THE LIFE OF PAUL LAMBERT.

Monday……takes 2 training sessions where the main focus is on long balls. Each defender is given a ball and are shown a target that is 70 yards away. The first 4 defensive players to hit the target will be in the team for Saturdays premier league game. Brad Guzan is concentrating on distribution where distance is also worked on. Currently his goal kicks are only travelling 82 yards!! The midfielders are doing as they please but are encouraged not to pass the ball forward. The first 3 players to pass the ball sideways or backwards will be the midfield for Saturdays premier league game, apart from Westwood, Delph and El Ahmadi whose names are already on the team sheet. The forwards are playing connect 4 where the 3 who win there first game will be in the team for Saturdays premier league game, except for Benteke, Weimann and Gabby who all haven’t scored for 8 weeks and clearly need to be given time to show what they can do.

Tuesday…..Lambert spends the day with a speech therapist whilst the players are told to watch Billy Connelly and Rab C Nesbit DVD’S in a bid to get them to understand what lambert is saying.

Wednesday…….the lads are given the day off and are told to report for light training on Thursday.

Thursday……the players turn up for training where the defenders are practising catching crosses, the forwards are practising sliding tackles, the midfield are practising passing sideways and Guzan is practising distance and distribution. By the end of training his goal kicks are reaching 94 yards.

Friday. The hardest training session of the week. Before training Lambert names an 18 man squad, despite the players efforts earlier in the week they struggle to hear what Lambert is saying so are non the wiser as to if they’re in the squad or not. Lambert selects 2 teams of 9 and gets a game of murderball underway. The game lasts 2 hours and goes exactly how lambert had hoped. 8 squad players all suffer serious injuries meaning Lambert is down to the bere bones and the team literally picks itself.

Saturday…..MATCHDAY…….it’s a disaster, Villa are beaten 1-5 at home to West Ham but Lambert remains upbeat and and can’t fault the players for effort. He has a special mention for sub Bacuna, who’s deflected freekick gives Villa a 4th minute lead. “He does it in training everyday” says Lambert, who refuses to be drawn into discussions that Villa are in a relegation battle, “the lads will be fine, we’ll pick ourselves up and go again.

    SUNDAY…..day off.

It’s disappointing to still read all these posts focusing on Lambert. When will you wake up? Lerner is the problem the criticism of Lambert takes away the emphasis from Lerner. You are all playing into Lerners hands. These posts and the out campaign need to focus on one man. One common cause, one common factor which is destroying our club LERNER. If you want things to improve all efforts/posts should be about removing Lerner. Lerner out

Ted total bollox, Lerner does not pick the team nor does he layout the planned game, that is the manager, let’s not be mistaken here, the first step is club stability, making the accounts tally up and ensuring you invest in your business and Lerner has done that, like the fact or not that’s a true statement. Lambert is the stabiliser of the product, and he’s shite at it.

        VTID. How naïve are you?
Are you seriously telling me you agree with LERNERS managerial appointments, selling of assets and lack of investment?
A man who loans money to the club and pays himself interest on the loan, a man who keeps the sky money and refuses to invest. We cant even compete with Cardiff or Hull.
Lerner stopped investing/supporting the club after MON left.
Ask yourself where is the general?
ultimately Lerner employs the managers, has total control of finances, is therefore responsible for the limited budget and the poor standard of players.
Do you honestly believe Lerner is not making money?
        LERNER OUT

Agree VTID…problem is now he’s turned us into a club that needs serious reinvestment to take us back to where we were. This is a serious project for someone to take on and with the fair play rules I cant see anyone wanting tot do it…

We are the most shocking team in the prem, the only reason we are not in the bottom 5 is because those teams are just as shocking.

Lambert needs to go, I’m sorry no more excuses, Sheffield were penned in their own half and we were still hoofing the ball up from the goal keeper, abysmal football.

Lerner if you are reading these comments you need to remove Lambert NOW!!

Today represents a new low in recent times. No matter what the manager said about the importance of the Cup, the players have proved that they are not good enough. I have backed Lambert and the philosophy of building a club around young hungry players. But the shocking home form over the past 2 years and the complete inability to breakdown poor teams gives me no choice but to say enough is enough.
We keep seeing the same performances over and over and I can see nothing this year that makes me think the manager or the players can improve. Yet again today Clark Westwood and Delph booked. Before Christmas all 3 went into games on 4 bookings, all got booked and all missed crucial games – to me this just shows the lack of control ,judgement and ability needed.
I can’t trust Lambert to spend any money wisely to improve us. The only solution is a new man in now with a realistic budget to improve the team in this window, and start again.
My choice would be Glenn Hoddle.

Why is there a sudden interest in hoddle. He’s not managed for years like houllier and has a continuous wankfest over spurs like houllier with Liverpool. He was never even successful as a manager either

Agreed, we are scraping the barrel talking about a guy whose last job was a total disaster at Wolves a decade ago.
We need a continental manager with fresh energy and good footballing principles like Pochettino.
