Aston Villa 0 – 1 Palace; Relegation? Probably.

I quite simply don’t know what to say.

Many of us had real fears about losing this one and so it turned out.

My predicted draw was looking in the bag, but we never really looked like scoring did we?

And what about that first half? I struggle to recall such a poor performance from two teams in the top flight, ever.

Even before the goal, the fact that Guzan had made the better saves in this game says it all and it’s simply not good enough. I even went so far as to think that Palace would probably nick it.

I now believe we stand every chance of going down, as we create absolutely nothing, especially at home.

How can it be that we are reduced to this?

I’m thoroughly despondent after that display, so am cutting it short. I just feel sick to the stomach.

But I will say one thing.
While I heard many boos and jeers, I never heard anyone calling for Lambert’s head.
I’m perplexed as to why.
Unless of course, most agree with me, in that we won’t appoint a decent replacement or give a new manager any money to spend.

Please, Lerner, do something or we’re doomed.

the worst thing about the result yesterday was that it came as no surprise. we are one of the worst 3 teams in the prem at the moment and have been the last what 2/3 months? along with west ham and Norwich, other teams in the lower reaches like Fulham, palace and sunderland are showing signs of fight and improvement we are not, relegation yet again is a distinct possibility and for that reason and the fact that the football is getting continually worse along with what ever tactics we are supposedly playing means that exactly 1 and a half seasons in to lamberts reign I think anyone with any common sense would have to call it a massive failure.
I, like many others have tried to be positive, optimistic, even generous in supporting our club and the manager and the team, we have as a whole been more than patient but its clear this is not working.
its not even the results, its the way we are playing, commentary on the game yesterday said ‘both teams were playing like they didn’t want to loose'(this was on about 80mins)how can we be approaching a home game against relegation candidates hoping not to loose? says it all really.
the only thing I could say in lamberts defence is that he’s had to get in a whole squad on the cheap and what we have is maybe 3 players you could call prem quality, maybe a further 4 or 5 who might make it in the future and the rest, well sorry just not good enough and being beaten week in week out is not going to help the potential of any of the prospects we have, if it was me id be praying my name WASNT on the team sheet come tomorrow.

Without doubt, the worst performance of football I have ever seen. I don’t mind losing as long as we have a go but to see us lose without trying is simply not acceptable.

I’m still backing Lambert but only by a very thin thread.

For Swansea I would play the following:

GK: Guzan, RB: Lowton, CB: Clark, CB: Baker (reluctantly as I think he is pony), LB: Luna (again I think he is pony), LM: Bacuna, CM: Delph, CM: Westwood, RM: Albrighton, FW: Tonev, FW: Helenius

I want to see Lowton at right back and Bacuna on the left flank with Albrighton on the other as part of a 4-4-2. It can’t be any worse than the system we are using.

With Bacuna on the left at least he can cover for the awful Antonio Luna when he gets caught out by opposing players.

I think that if Tonev drops a bit he will be quite dangerous as I think that Gabby needs a rest, plus I think Tonev can provide a goal threat if he can reign in his shoot-at-will policy.

I reckon its about time Helenius got a chance.

Gabby needs a rest?……that was his first game for a fortnight FFS. How can Everton can play for 70 mins with 10 men and still create chance after chance (9 shots on target to our 4), most of which were fairly easy to deal with!
Fuck off Lerner, the Villa is OURS!

Where are you Randy, you fucking ignorant twathead………FFS speak to us. Tell us that we will put things right in January. Tell us that substantial funds will be available. And tell us that we will have a decent manager to spend those substantial funds on EXPERIENCED PL players…….we fucking deserve respect. We can no longer remain patient and loyal to the club we love when you constantly ignore us. Grow a pair FFS. Randy…..your taking the piss (again)!
RANDY…..TALK….OPEN YOUR FUCKING MOUTH, THEN OPEN YOUR FUCKING WALLET!
Fuck off Lerner….the Villa is OURS

I think things will go pear shaped giddy, I have absolutely zero confidence in villa getting a result tomorrow, zero!
I don’t think we will see any significant spending in jan nor any significant players come in tbh and I doubt lambert will be sacked either, we’ll just erm……go again, and again until we finally end up relegated.

If we turn back time to Alex McLeish’s last game in charge, away at Norwich City.If you recall, some Villa fans were chanting Lambert’s name as his Canaries side had a reasonable season that year. One thing sticks in my mind though, even though I was happy to see McLeish be replaced. That is that Lambert’s sides always seem to concede goals. The general thought was that he would bring attacking football to the club.Fast forward to now and we are no further ahead of where we were in terms of both league position and style of play. The same old rubbish comes out of Lambert’s mouth each time.Phrases such as “I THOUGHT WE WERE EXCELLENT IN THE FIRST/SECOND HALF” or “I COULDN’T FAULT THEM FOR THEIR EFFORT” The man is deluded.I heard that his sidekick Ian Culverhouse was allegedly abusive to a fan who stated his justifiable anger in the game against Palace. The home record with Lambert is downright embarrassing, laughable and wholly unacceptable. What are these people doing in training ? is what I wonder. I am not usually in favour of sacking a manager but how much time do we give him ? Can anyone see things getting any better ?
